Man, TH-cam has everything…this is exactly the fix I was looking for! I used some wire threads for the crosshairs too - a bit thicker but they do the job well, I may even like them better. Thanks for the post.
Thx so much...just bought a used telescope and the owner had at some point dropped the finder scope......so....now it's good to go again thx to your advice 👍🤗
What i did with mine was put in a vice then used super glue with one of them very very fine nozzle and quick setting spray 2 seconds did one side then pulled it as tight as possible dabbed glue then quick mist of spray came out very taught and clean just a suggestion for you in the future When people tighten the grum screw to tight on a suppressor or put thread lock on it use a electric soldering iron stand tip in the crum screw comes out very easy thought i would tell you that little trick Have fun 👍
After destroying my cross hairs today i found this video great. Luckily one of our friends visited today. Her long straight hair came in handy, though i recommend asking nicely for a couple of strands rather than the hog tying method i employed. Thank you very much.
If you search for "scope crosshairs" (I looked for Unertl crosshairs) EBay has repair kits consisting of 3 foot lengths of tungsten wire fairly inexpensively. Sizes range from 0.0005 to 0.0015. Much finer than electrical wire.
If you want really strong thin wire find some old fuse wire. It may be hard to find these days with RCCB's, but you used to be able to buy it in various Amp ranges, and therefore thicknesses on a little card from the hardware store.
I have a 6524 tasco apartments scope with a broken crosshair I sent it to Bushnell to get it repaired but because it didn't have a warranty they sent it back to me.
Hi there, I've tried unscrewing that inner ring out but it's just firmly stuck there and it won't even move a mm as I tried to unscrew it with everything that could grab those two holes in the sides, is it glued or I don't understand something? I'm talking about 1:22 part
Every manufacturer does it differently unfortunately. This viewfinder was from a Meade telescope and thankfully they didn't glue it in. I don't have the proper spanner wrench to undo it, but a set of carefully handled needle-nose pliers or hemostats can sometimes span the gap.
I can't believe that NOBODY makes cross hair replacement pieces . You should be able to screw it back in with the cross hairs already in . I actually was able to unscrew it with my fingers , apparently , I got lucky .

I'm glad it was helpful. This was the first (and hopefully only) time that I've had broken crosshairs. However, I've been told it's quite common.

That is a VERY clever way to make sure there is tension on the filaments! Thank you for this tip.
Sorry for the suppressor thought it was for a Rifle but you may need it if some thing is over tight
For a thinner diameter use the wire from telephone cable usually there 6 colours with very very fine wire in each colour .001

I'm glad the video was helpful. I've heard from a lot of people who have used different things like spider web, hair from their pets, etc.
Just the project I have been putting off. Thanks for the directions.
I was apprehensive about it at first, but it ended up being more simple than I expected.
@@AstronomyGarage Used strands from speaker wire. Little thicker then original but it will do!
Thanks alot bro i fixed my old broken gamo 3-9 40 scope
Thanks for the feedback - I'm glad the video was helpful!

Thanks! That is excellent info.
That's where I just bought mine , eBay
I am about to try this on a vintage sans and streiffe guide scope.
Go slow and be careful. What did you use as a thread?
@reflactor I have an Asian wide with long black hair I was thinking of using a few strands . But I haven't started yet

John I have even used spider web thread it is really fine! or you could use human hair?
Thanks! I see lots of room for testing various filaments!
After seeing this video I think I can fix it now
Take your time and I think you'll do a great job.

Εγώ στη δική μου περίπτωση χρησιμοποίησα τρίχες από τα μαλλιά της κόρης μου, σας πληροφορώ ότι ήταν το αποτέλεσμα το αποτέλεσμα εκπληκτικό😊

Years ago wen i could see better i nicked a few hairs of my dog worked fine.
That'll work!
Use black widow spider web filaments.
I've heard very good things about using spider web.
Why wire r u using
Very thin electrical wire from a strand of wires.

That sounds like a great business opportunity!
@@AstronomyGarage It sure as Hell does .
i cant take it out
My ring is glued on and hard to get off so i cant fix it 😢
Sorry to hear that. If it's just hot-glue, you might be able to bust that bond pretty easily.
i think its better you use a women hair
looks like shit haha, but the premise is sound
