    Sunshine TV,
Thank you very much for this video! I just rebuilt the carb in my Stihl BR420. It would start and run at part throttle but bog down and want to stall at full throttle. I used the Walbro kit you used and now my machine is running great. Thanks again
    Paul (in MA)

Thanks man I found my problem. I cleaned the orifices and pin holes on the diaphragm side, they were really plugged, and totally missed the orifices on the other side. My blower dies when I hit the throttle, it's getting plenty of air but no fuel.

I set the fuel mixture screws to the factory settings and while i was using the blower they vibrated loose out of setting i then reset the H and L screw settings again and watched them vibrate loose that time just to see if that's what they were doing and that's what they kept doing on the walbro carburetor i have cleaned the walbro carb twice and its good ready to reuse except it needs the H an L screw replacement parts so when i set those and run it they'll both stay in place and not keep vibrating out of setting can't put glue on them because i still need to be able to adjust them whenever

Question, did you have issues with idling, is the idle high normal? Mine I have to keep the throttle press in order to keep it running otherwise it cuts off...any suggestion or comments? Thanks much!

There are idle adjustments on the carburetor... there are a couple of set screws that you can adjust. Try those and see if that works... I also hear that the spark arrestor in the exhaust can get clogged and can cause issues.

Twist in the bigger flathead screw below the H an L screw that'll help it some but yours probably has worn out h and l screws like mine does and that's the main problem with mine.
If turning in your idle screw a hair doesn't work then turn out the L screw counterclockwise just a tiny bit not alot and do it with the engine off not running

Im a little late to some comments but they're still on here so if you didn't know some of this stuff now you do

@@sunshinetv2419 mine didn't have the spark arrestor in it i bought mine well used those other people never kept the machine cleaned out it all. Im always buying something used or getting it free and there's always something wrong with the stuff its always something simple and easy to fix.
If i can I'll just buy a new walbro carburetor for the br420 because mine just needs the high and low screws new screws that was the same problem with my old fs45 weed eater of stihls i fixed the old fs45 and its still working good it has a original stihl zama carburetor on it.
I did plan on using the br420 this fall so i gotta get the h an l screws for the old carburetor or just a new walbro if they're in stock

The walbro carburetor problem was the H and L screws vibrating loose so i took the walbro carburetor off and put on a zama carburetor and the zama just isn't working good it all the blower is starving for gas and adjusting the screws doesn't help so
Im thinking about putting the original walbro carburetor back on it it needs and new screw and all those same rubber pieces and needs new H and L screws or it ain't gonna work
Im tired of messing with the zama carburetor it shouldn't have no problems because its brand new but it does atleast its H and L screws stay in place.
I was wanting to clean the top piston head off but can't take off the muffler without the right tool it does need cleaned on top still idles though with a dirty piston head
My br420 wont run with the choke knob on choke it runs with the flap open it shuts off when i put it on choke when the flap is closed so this is how it acts with the new zama carburetor and i don't like it something's different on zama than the walbro carburetors
My walbro carburetor needs the new high and low screws thats the main thing it needs now i could try other screws in it but it may not work or work the right way im just wasting my time messing with this zama thats not wanting to work

Great video,, but why did you not change the spring as well? Also it would have been a good idea to change the fuel line as well. Did you change the gaskets that fit between the engine and the carb as well?

    • @sunshinetv2419
      @sunshinetv2419  5 ปีที่แล้ว

The kit didn't come with a spring and I didn't notice that till I did the video plus the original spring seemed to be in great shape. Changing out the fuel lines would have been a good idea as well but I didn't pick up any of those parts at the time. I didn't replace the gaskets because when I took it apart they were still intact and there was no signs of leakage. It would probably be best to change them but once I finished everything up it started right up and ran great which really was my ultimate goal. Thanks for reaching out!
