2020 Subaru Ascent Spark Plug Replacement
This video shows how I replaced the spark plugs in my 2020 Subaru Ascent. I was due for a 60K mile maintenance and spark plug replacement was part of that service. Dealer wanted $500... local shop wanted $700...
Parts for this job was $112 ($26/plug+tx). Level of difficulty 4 out of 10 for the passenger side... 6 out of 10 for the driver's side. The driver's side plugs had very tight quarters to work in. I had to buy a few tools like the low profile, swivel socket wrench, $26 and a 10mm deep well socket $9... still a considerable savings. Time to complete job, probably 2hrs (mine took longer because of filming)

Replacing and Staining Chair Back Caning
มุมมอง 19Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I will show you how I replaced the caning in the chair back of my favorite bamboo chairs. To have them recaned and stained by a professional was $250 per chair, so I decided to try it myself. Here's what I did and what I learned. Now I'm passing that knowledge on to you! I did 4 chairs myself in total. The first one took a few hours and the last one took a little over an hour. Tot...

This is only the 2nd time I winterized my Seadoo. I couldn't find a video to show how its done so I did my own. This worked for last year's Maine winter. Anyone out there with advice on things I could have done, or things I missed please leave comments in the feed. I'm not a mechanic and don't claim to be, I'm just going by advice I had been given. Hope this helps for anyone out there who wants...
Building a 2/3 Scale DC-3 Airplane
มุมมอง 59K6 ปีที่แล้ว
We scaled down and constructed a DC-3 in the Full Sail University soundstages in December of 2013. The DC-3 is part of the Full Sail logo, so we built a prop version for their Christmas event called Santaland and again utilized it for their Hall of Fame celebration. The plane is mainly constructed out of wood and foam. It took approximately 2 weeks to build with about 8 people. The plane needed...

How to Repaint Brick Paneling for a Realistic effect
มุมมอง 66K7 ปีที่แล้ว
I teach set construction at a college and we use a lot of brick paneling. I like the paneling but students often times want the bricks to be a different color or look more realistic. We used to paint each brick by hand and that took forever... then I came up with an easier method. It allows you to choose the mortar color and the brick colors. The key to a great look is using saturated colors an...

Removing an old Sta Rite Max-E-Glas 2 Pool pump motor and installing a new pump motor
มุมมอง 232K7 ปีที่แล้ว
When the old pump motor started making a high pitched sound it was time to replace it. The motor ran for several hours everyday for 11 years and the bearings had finally given out. Instead of buying it from a pool supply store I looked up a local electric motor supply store on the internet and saved about $100 on the cost of the motor- All you need are the old motor specs in order to get a suit...

How to Build a 4' x10' Hollywood Style Flat
Great video, just to clarify, you still have confidence in this method adding marine antifreeze with the drill pump without running the motors works fine as long as i take out the plugs and cover with a rag before starting in the spring? Also, don't run the motor for more than a minute. Is there anything else i should do different ? Thanks
I did this for many years when I stored my boat in Maine… it worked. You may want to look through the comments for other peoples suggestions. Some people don’t always agree with my technique. I asked Sea Doo mechanics about it and they said it’s fine and will work, they use a different method now where they use compressed air to blow out all the water… I don’t know how to do that… you may or may not have to remove the plugs in the spring… only sometimes would the antifreeze get into the cylinders… when it does the motor can’t compress the liquid and you can burn up the starter trying If it won’t turn over in the spring remove the plugs, cover the holes with rags and turn over the engine… the antifreeze will shoot out of the plug holes… the rags help to mitigate the mess… good luck!
@toddsadowski5074 Great. Did you continue to spray fog directly in the carburetor, or did you just use the fogging holes in the cover? I'll be storing it in the garage in northeast Ohio. Typically, 30 degrees below zero outside. Should I use -100 marine antifreeze? Also, do you know if i can leave the battery hooked up with a maintainer hooked up to it continuously? Thanks for all the help.
@@larrysobol3052 I took the screens off the carburetor and sprayed directly into the throttle area... I felt as though the spray would have a difficult time getting passed the mesh filter... I don't know much about the anti-freeze... I bought what was available at the local auto parts store, and just made sure it was safe for venting into the soil. I don't think I would leave an electrical device hooked up to my battery in the engine compartment over the winter... one short or surge, or something and the fumes from the gas in the compartment could cause an explosion.
I watched this to completion. Very good video and If I was 20 years younger I think I’d give it a try. Thanks.
Nice T shirt. Been up tp Northern Outdoors a few times. In fact heading up to Maine this weekend to winterize my Sea doo.(from Florida). Great video.
Northern Outdoors is one of my favorite Maine spots… I live in Florida as well and would have to either winterize the boat after using it a few weeks in the summer or I’d have the local shop pick it up and fix it then winterize it because I’d run out of time up there… with such deep freezes up there I was always nervous as to whether I did everything right but I never had an issue except sometimes the antifreeze would get in the cylinders and I’d have to remove the plugs and crank the engine to blow it out… sadly, last year my wife got rid of the boat, we began renting the camp and the boat had to go…. Glad this video helped. I made it because I couldn’t find one out there that explained exactly what to do, and it also reminded me what to do each year when I winterized it.
Nice video. My daughter just got a quote of $572 for this while some warranty work was being done. Crazy.
Thank you man. The same thing happened to my house too and I was trying to reuse the tile. It’s a nice video.
Most excellent video. Thanks! Unfortunately, I won't have the patience or small nimble hands required to do this for my sister. Now I remember why my first Subaru (89 XT) was my last Subaru. This is a ten minute job on any Honda. I could do all 16 plugs on my Hemi in as much time with far less aggravation and be good for 100k miles.
youre thermostat is not open...... and you can fog threw the intake till the motor chocks out
What product did you use for fogging?
I don't remember, just some fogging spray I picked up at the local Napa Auto Parts store... any kind will do honestly
Just replaced mine today using your video. Perfect! Thanks
No anti- seize on NGK plugs, not required with NGK spark-plugs; also anti-seize compound can give you false readings if using a torque wrench. Also you’re spreading anti-seize compound with your bare fingers, you’re an idiot because it’s a carcinogen. The spark plug should be torqued to about 14 foot pounds into an aluminum head if possible, if a torques wrench not possible (tight space) then about a half a turn after it bottoms out to crush the spark-plug gasket.
Well, it looks like it is $76 dollars now. Looks easy enough, but I would probably get the cheaper part--if it is like a fan blower motor in my corolla, a cheap part will last a couple of years. Thank you so much for sharing this. My friend has a 2007 freestyle he is about to trade, but he was delighted that he can turn the annoying fan off.

Thanks so much for making this!
Thanks for the video I'm having ti do this soon can't wait to fix all those symptoms you described match mine perfectly
thanks for the effort, - not I know how I would NOT do staining.
I keep having water leak from bottom but can't see why it is leaking
Could be the large seal under the stainless band. Be sure it is in working order, that there is no debris on it and there is silicone lubricant on it. It could also be the shaft seal gone bad or it could be the small drain valve at the bottom not sealing. Or it could be the 2" pipe connection not screwed in tight or not glued properly.
So very helpful. Very neat job. Thanks for sharing.
My hvac on my 2006 started going loco yesterday. This morning all was good but by the time I drove home it decided to go fast, slow, off, and nothing i pressed on the screen work. Got home and stopped all together. No light no fan nothing on the hvac. I am assuming it is this part unless someone says otherwise.
Does anyone know if a Ford Explorer bumper would fit a freestyle?
Great video! The only thing I would have done differently is NOT use any anti-seize on the spark plugs. This could cause over tightening/torqueing of the plugs. However, great info on the tools needed as well, I'll be doing this soon on my 2020 OB XT.
Well done, dude! Looks like it was a challenge to reach everything...
can you stain first?
No, you have to soak the rattan in order to make it supple. If you stained it I am not sure if you soaked it in water afterwards if it could absorb enough water to make it soft enough. Also it expands when it's wet, as it dries it shrinks and pulls the rattan tight.
Great video brother I’m doing mine this week.
Excellent video!
This is retarded - why would they design it like this, knowing that a serviceable part on the maintenance schedule?
At 10:31 you placed a clamp around the housing. What's the exact name for that housing? I am replacing my Century 3/4 hp pump and need the housing as well. I can't find anything on the internet that resembles that housing. There's no markings on my existing housing. Thanks.
I'm currently working on a project just like this. When I took the tiles up, none of the old thin-set was attached to the tile. Definitely, a pressure issue?
damn! That thing is a bear to get out...I finally just removed the front seat and it was much easier to squeeze in there and get to the resistor.
Oh, and I used my multitool to just cut the "ears" off the old one.
Wish this worked for a 2020 Forester...that driver side rear doesn't have enough slack in the harness to pull the boot out, and trying to disconnect that coil from the harness has me defeated, at the moment. 3 out of 4 done but I can feel that the engine isn't enjoying the lopsided ignition.
I have a cane-backed rocker that needs replacing but trying to figure out how to put the new webbing on. It's not stapled or anything to the back; just wrapped around top and bottom of back of chair. My question is does anyone have an idea how to get the webbing to be secure enough that when I lean back in chair it won't come undone? I've never tried this before but my current webbing is really falling apart with no back support and I need to replace soon. Thanks!
After putting in your Spark plugs did your motor shake.
Did it get better? That sounds like a misfire. Maybe a boot wasn't on all the way?
loved the stain matching element. what was the cost of materials? what was the cost of the repair?
That information is in the tutorial and in the description above
Never use staples
What about the oil valve you never mentioned if its suppose to be in or off??
really???? dude this is like the worst work ever!!!!! you should do it line by line not to staple it and glue it! REMEMBER WHOEVER STAPLE AND GLUE THIS KIND OF WORK IS COMPLETE BEGINER AND BAD WORKER!!!!!
in their defense, there were already staples and pin nails in the original work
Wait. Can you refer with a better link? Lol
Hi from Kissimmee, Florida. I have a beautiful dining room table and 6 chairs with wicker backing that my dad bought in 1971, when I was 6, in Daytona Beach, Florida and the table and three of the chairs will look wonderful. The set was made by American Furniture Company in Martinsville, Virginia. I found a place that will replace the wicker backing of my chairs for $150 per chair. I thought that was a lot, but now I see why! So, after I watched this video, I bought the kit that Todd suggested from Amazon and I hope I can do it myself. I just started this earlier today because my wicker backing kit just came in the mail. MY chairs do not have that thick piece around the edge that Todd's chairs do and I am having a lot of trouble getting this edging off. I have tried several tools, but it is going to take some effort. I think the easy part is going to be putting the wicker backing ON once I get the spline OFF! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, if you know where I can find antique American Furniture chairs , I would love to check it out because I can't find the exact chair. Thanks so much.
Thank you for this full tutorial video! It will come in handy for my husband and I this summer when we redo the retan in our dining room chairs
Not checking gap or did I miss that step I confirm all gaps
Spark plug replacement should never be this hard. Sorry...no Subarus for me.
Most cars are this hard, try v6 front wheel drives
what do I need to do to de winterize? just flush it out with water?
Yes, just run the motor with a hose attached so the coolant doesn’t end up in the lake or river
Thanks for the really helpful video.
I've always been told to disconnect the battery before doing these types of jobs. Is this correct?
What the name if your cutter tool?
Oscillating saw...
Is the procedure the same with the forester?
I don't know... I'm not a mechanic... if your engine compartment looks similar than maybe... if you are a bit mechanically inclined you should be able to figure your way through it.
@@sunshinetv2419 okay thanks!
Getting my spark plugs in at orielys tomorrow. Cant wait to do this on my 2021 60k outback xt
Excellent and smooth explanation of how to replace a pool pump
So you leave the treated gas in over Winter and instead of drain gas
Yes... the more empty the tank is the more condensation can build up inside the fuel tank and put water into the fuel
Just a heads up here... Tighten the spark plug finger-tight until the gasket reaches the cylinder head, then tighten about ½ - ⅔ turn more with a spark plug wrench. (Taper seat you go about 1/16 turn more... These are way to tight.
Just a critical warning for newcomers, DO NOT REMOVE THE RED TERMINAL FIRST (like in this video)
Thanks, I was like "what?!!' Luckily the positive did not touch the chasis and give his ECU a stroke.
Looks great!..but a lot of work...is it worth it?..bc i have 4..3 are damaged..I am ready to throw them.out n buy new😮
I looked all over to try to find comparable bamboo style chairs, I got these from Badcock furniture years ago but could not find anything anywhere like them without spending less than $1000 per chair. To get them professionally redone was $250/chair. So before throwing in the towel I thought I would give this a try. The first one took a few hours but the rest took about an hour and a half. For me the time was well worth end result.
@@toddsadowski5074 thank you..I will try👍👍and thank you for this tutorial..😊
