Has to be hard to film in the middle of raising a family, but if you didn’t show it at the end of this video we would never know how hard it’s gotta be for you! Good job Mama- your videos are much appreciated and enjoyed
That wood stabiliser worked wonders with that log, I have use a hand planer before on wood and I can tell you it usually takes off large amounts each time you go over the wood. That stabiliser made the wood so hard the planer just could not get stock in to do it job. All you need to be able to turn the lamp stand on and off is a “in line switch”, they are cheap and most electrical shops or DIY shops will stock them.
Nicely done and I do enjoy the outtakes it show your family is just like everyone else. You could use a smart bulb instead a smart outlet that way you can dim it and change colors for different moods all with your phone.
So your son likes beyblades too.. I needed to buy a backpack for him to truck those things back and between his mom's house and mine. He is obsessed.... Lol. Love your channel btw. The combination of your sweet spoken voice, your one of a kind creativity and your skills is truly unique and inspirational. (Your porch ceiling project inspired me to do the same to my basement stairway) Keep building 😊
Do they still make the Clapper? for your on off switch, Needed your help 2 years ago, tried the same with 2 inch wide cookies from my daughters wedding, but they stayed oily, but now willing to try again, thanks, like your videos
Since you used threaded schedule 40 galvanized fittings it would have been advantageous to use galvanized threaded schedule 40 steel pipe. It's heavier duty which would help with moving the lamp around.
IMPORTANT! DANGER! Check with an electrician if you need to earth this. You've added a metal body and if the wire shorts in the conduit, someone can get electrocuted. Appliances with metal housing need to be earthed. The original Ikea lamp probably had plastic housing which means it didn't require earthing. Update: I showed this video to an electrician and he said the metal needs to be earthed.
@Welcome to the Woods The wire is insulated but the insulation can wear, decay or melt. If the wire shorts, the pipe will become live and anyone who touches it will complete the circuit and be electrocuted (ie they will become the earth path, rather than than the earth leakage protection in your breaker box) All your appliances that have metal housing (washer, dryer etc) are earthed for this reason. Things that have plastic housing (hair dryer, glue gun, phone charger etc) won't have an earth wire. In Australia, the earthed appliances have a three pronged plug. I'm not in the USA so I don't know how your safety standards work. But I'd be checking with an electrician to see if you are in danger. If the appliance overheats and melts some of the insulation, you could have a live lamp stand and the world's weirdest hairdo (or worse)
@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog Yes, Feck off G+ is correct, it needs to be grounded. I'd remove the plug on the existing wire, tape/tie it together with the new 3 wire and pull on the socketed end. Rewire the socket, and attach the groundwire inside the reducer. Might as well add a switch while you're making it safe.
haha, now i finally get it 🤣. I always wondered why your channel was called welcome to the woods whereas you live nowhere near the woods 😂. keep up the good work!
Nunca voy a entender lo que dice. Pero me gusta cómo trabaja. ¿Serán los niños decoradores también? Los niños se enojan. Pero bueno. Donde manda capitán, no manda marinero. Ya se les pasará.
You scared me by placing your hand on top of the open cut when the electric saw machine was inside the cut at full speed and only held with one hand. It sometimes can jump back and up.... 😢
Good work mrs woods but a bit boring don’t you think? I think you are more talented than that a black pipe with a wire and clip on hood you need to spice that lamp up the wood is great but everything else is blah! maybe some Salvador Dali for some inspiration some curves on the metal some LED lighted leaves some glass or crystal I don’t know but something artistic or it’s curtains for your channel ???
Love the outtakes. Puts a human touch on these magical, superhuman projects!
You are super patient with your kids! You are a good mother.
.....seems like such a wholesome, all-American family..... you a good Mom...!
Agree with all the other comments on the outtakes part. Any parent can relate to all of these and they enhance your videos that are already well done.
good JOB to you. at least you had a solution to your mistake.

Almost first.
BTW: your outtakes are good stuff. Kids add so much character to life.
Love a good shop steward/helper! A very neat project.
The snow shovel that your husband was carrying when talking about taking the kids sledding, explains his attitude ;-)
😂
Jeez, every time you say wood cookie lol 😜 great job!
I loved the out takes at the end. Kids are so much fun. Interesting to see the behind the scenes before the final audio over dub. Great work.
Very nice, I’m inspired to make one.
Love it very nice job looks fantastic
Yours is way more sturdy than the ones you buy at the store! The joining pieces on those easily strip out, then the lamp wobbles like a drunken duck.
Hi Melissa,
That lamp came out fantastic!!
Oooooh, the lamp from Instagram! So that's where the wood came from.
Great job 👏
Im only scribed cause I "Want to touch the hiney!" Lol
Awesome!!!

keep up the great work!!!!
tool for your wish list: arbortech turboplane blade
Very beautiful result well done ✅
So nice video
Great video! The only thing I may have done differently is thread the pipe rather than using the connectors.
Freaking awesome. Salute to you. 💪👍 Inspires me to also seek the se type mother nature feel. New subscriber 🚀🌹✌

All of the wire in this project is inside plastic?

Awesome lamp. Looks like you use emt for the pipe. Very nice
This is sweet. I have two cookies I might just have to do this with them :D There pretty big like how yours were though... :(
You could also put an inline foot switch on the lamp
Great job. You might have a look at a Festool HL 850 planer for future jobs.☑️
nice if you have an extra 700 dollars laying around
Woman! Don't ever take a single hand off of the chainsaw ever again! -Safety police :)

Yeah it's my last name 😉
Can tell you're a Home Depot or Lowes shopper. The China name stands out big time.
I shop at Menards, but yes similar. I don't know where else I would source pipe from?
Just put it a regular hanging switch to make it more practical and it would be 100% ready.
A 4 1/2 angle grinder with a course sanding discs would have worked well too
Love your projects and your creativity!!! I am saddened seeing a decided lack of PPE, Safety Glasses and Hearing protection :(
Melissa's husband goes down to the Pub to have a beer with his mates and says to them, "This is what Melissa made today, what did your wives do?".
She's in the OR doing brain surgery...
@@multibikermike4681 your wife sounds much more amazing than me.

👍👍👍👍👌😉
Very nice 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
a switch would do the lamp good so you don't have to plug and unplug it
Nice project. Watch that hair around a chainsaw.
Make it wooden with the help of the Stodoys instructions.
Can I borrow you for a few days...

Nice lamp but that MADE IN CHINA (10:03) is a no go on a selfmade lamp.
