    I have been using Pantene for about a year and people tell me that it’s bad for my hair. So I tried a different kind and it ruined my hair. Back to Pantene 🎉

    Finally a hair dresser who does her own research! So many hair dressers are told something then just repeat it to everyone and not even look at the ingredients! They say drugstore shampoo and conditioner are stripping and coat the hair but is it stripping or coating ? Can’t be both lmao. Thank you for your video! I’m reality shampoo is not as import as food or clothes for family’s who don’t have as much money so dumping $60-$100 on shampoo is so dumb considering other financial things family’s go through.

      I found it so ironic how the professional brands had tons of drying, non-fatty/conditioning alcohol and silicones and the Pantene doesn't, especially because so many professionals say it dries the hair from the inside out and coats it 🙃 thanks for watching!

    • @shelby2493

      @@BoldlyLauren yeah like redken and other L’Oréal owned brands use isopropyl alcohol pretty high in the ingredients list and I’m not sure if it’s used as a preservative or what but the products smell like rubbing alcohol. The daily moisture line from Pantene has a silicone free shampoo but the conditioner still has silicone but silicone is such a good protectant for the hair and silicone is used as the heat protectant in all heat protection products. Sulfates and silicone are not bad and I wish people did research instead of listening to people who don’t even research things and spew mis information. It is so upsetting the amount of tik tok videos that bash drugstore products then promote “high end” products that LITERALLY have the SAME “bad” ingredients!

    There is definitely silicone in the conditioner of the Pantene you've shown. But it is a very good one! It is called Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, and it does NOT build up in your hair. The chemical structure of this silicone makes it physically impossible. It DOES coat your hair, but it does that to PROTECT it, in a very LIGHTWEIGHT way! If you've ever used a conditioner that uses coconut oil, argan oil etc, these will be coating your hair too, however they are actually much heavier!

    As the daughter of a hairdresser, growing up in the 80s and 90s, I was preached ( then preached myself) about Pantene and other drugstore dangers. Back then, the dirty ingredients to look for was anything in the inky that started with "ammonium...sulfate" or any ingredient that began with ammonium. Ammonia being the keyword. This is where the "strips and coats" thing comes from. The ammonia-based surfactant would strip the hair and then the silicones and waxes would coat it. It may even look pretty at first, but before you'd get to the end of the bottle, you'd have such a heavy product buildup (combined with lack of proper rinsing) that once the hairdresser was able to get rid of the buildup, what would be left was the damaged hair. At some point over the last decade--maybe longer--Pantene itself had a big revamp. Maybe that's when they changed the formula or it could have happened years ago that the use of ammonium-based ingredients stopped. A few years ago, I perused the drugstore cause I needed a budget friendly option. None of the big brands had ammonium anything listed in their ingredient deck. And since it had always been forbidden, I bought the Pantene.
    And it was just fine. ❤️❤️❤️.
    Now this was of course my understanding of the World of Drugstore Shampoo" as explained to me by a hairdresser mom. She may be wrong, but I can promise that "ammonium whatever" was definitely an ingredient in drugstore shampoo at least through the early aughts. My mother would have gone to beauty school in the late 60s. Whether she learned this in school or on the job, I do not know. But I hope this helps...❤️

      Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate is still used in shampoo's, it is very similar to Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Both great at cleaning your hair. The difference is these days shampoo's contain multiple surfactants and co-surfactants to make them gentler on your hair. I think the problem was originally shampoo's would only contain 1 surfactant such as ALS which would indeed be very harsh!

    Hairdresser of 20 years and I fell in love with Pantene hard. I went to Las Vegas on a vacation and didn't want to use hotel shampoo and bought the travel size Pantene shampoo and conditioner at a local Walgreens. My hair was the best it ever looked on that vacation and when I got back to my home I started using professional shampoo and conditioner again and my hair didn't syle and shine like it did. I was bummed so I went and bought big bottles and it came back to healthy, shiny and manageable! I use the volume Pantene when my hair gets a little built up because it's a bit clarifying. I'm very happy to see another professional sees how good this product is. I think Pantene put a lot of scientific research into their products and the types of alcohols and silicone or whatever may be high grade idk but I'm a Pantene fan for life.

      Proctor & Gamble actually own Pantene and have a huge research budget. Hairdressers in the early to mid 1990s kept saying how bad it was and wanted me to buy their salon brands but actually I read years ago around 1994 or 1995 Pantene was the top selling haircare brand in the world reaching $1billion dollar sales. I remember reading it was once a luxury product.
      I have used it on and off for 38 yrs. In 1990 or 1991 it came in pink(dry hair) white, blue, bottles with bright gold colored screw on caps. I used the pink one.

    I can't attest to Pantene 100% at this moment being as I'm here after my first use since childhood when I thought Pantene WAS top shelf. I grew up really poor. But not since my Dove lemon verbena pomegranate (discontinued) have I had my hair feel so nice. The loreal elvive was good but caused dandruff so bad. I've tried other store brands for the same results as Dove for years. I always avoided Pantene. Anyways, I bought the 2-in-1 clean tonight and I'm crossing my fingers that this is my one. I have been using Aussie Moist and, on my hair, it is mediocre at best. I've been letting my bleach grow out for over a year now and I finally took off a lot of it in one cut instead of a dusting... I did a CUT. The bleach was only on the top cap, so my under cap is completely virgin. I took about 2" off my burned hair and about an inch off the under. I got a double long layered look that I don't hate at all. That cut may have had an affect on my new found hair health. I love it enough that I'm not disappointed at all. Also, I always cut my own hair. I've taken enough cosmetology that I shouldn't have to pay someone. I'm a beauty school dropout lol. May go back

I thought you have to keep some on your hair, it works as a leave in conditioner and helps to keep your hair moisturized! 😮 I got this suggestion from an TH-camr. Should i completely rinse it off for better result and to avoid build up!?

    Me (being a 16 yo male) uses Pantene and I severely notice the difference , using Pantene my hair always feels silky and just genially smells great , I do notice my hair does feel stiff /dried out for several hours in the morning, maybe because I don’t have conditioner

    • @BoldlyLauren
      @BoldlyLauren  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oooh...if you're hair is longer, maybe consider adding in the conditioner (it's wonderful!) But if not, maybe try the 2 in 1 variation for more conditioning

    • @BoldlyLauren
      @BoldlyLauren  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also worth noting, that stiff feeling can be mineral buildup from water...a clarifying shampoo every couple of weeks can help this.

    Between my self and my daughters… we use Pantene. One likes the Smooth and sleek, the other likes the volume one, I use the ‘Classic Clean’ or whatever leftovers they have in a pinch. I miss the ice shine one. But there’s 13 feet of hair between us. I just lie to the hairdresser when I go in for my twice yearly trims.
    Same with my esthetician. She thinks I am using one of those fancy facial cleansers (because “your skin looks so good!”), uh… nope. Dove sensitive bar. 😂

    I realize this video was done a while ago but I would also like to mention, people with really bad contact dermatitis struggle with high end shampoo and conditioner. Pantene has a limited amount of ingredients and I never itch when I use it. When I get my hair highlighted, I will get hives on my neck from the shampoo and conditioner unless I wash my hair when I get home. I don’t have the nerve to ask my hairdresser to use Pantene on me 😬

    Honestly, I hate the products that beauticians put in my hair. I have curly/ wavy hair and they think that I need a thousand salon products. Nope. I also believe that your body chemistry makes or breaks a product. I saw somebody say they used Herbal Essence. That stuff was awful for me but worked for her. Great. My last thought is some people do overwash their hair. Many people wash their hair daily and it probably isn’t necessary. Anyway. Pantene works well in my household. My daughters have straight hair and they have shiny hair. It smells great and their heads are throughly rinsed. My oldest asks me to help her. So that point you made can be a problem and cause build up. My oldest still wants my help and that is why hers is probably shiny with Pantene.

    My hair was medium-coarse combo texture but I am post-menopause and it is now pretty much coarse with a little medium. I have used so many hair brands over the years salon and drugstore and Pantene seems to work the best. Even when I experimented yrs ago I'd go back to Pantene mostly their conditioners because their shampoos have sodium lauryl sulfate which is harsh for my hair which has tendency to rough feeling and strawlike.
    Any other suggestions are appreciated as I have always wished for finer strands that seem easier to care for but fine hair is not in my family genes.

But if you have it colored I'd recommend somethin else... if i want to keep my color looking good i use a sulfate free shampoo (loreal makes a great one called EverPure but there are others too).
