    My main worry about Apex is that if their Customer support is this bad for such a small amount of users, especially considering they are reviewing their product, then god knows what they will be like if this ever goes into production with average joe
    For a kick starter I would of expected the opposite in regards to customer services and their explanation about poor customer doesn't wash with me

    Re: your problem with the printer; I think you are on the right track with the build plate not lowering enough. After removing the screen protector, there is more space under the build plate. If it cannot lower any further, you cannot fill that gap easily.

    It’s so weird, this new range of companies making essentially the same thing. With all of the same parts and accessories.
    I’m using an emake3d Galaxy 1, same busted feet, same crappy shipping box, same build plate, same vat, same heater, same charcoal trap, same Z mechanism, same accessory film, tools, scraper, rulers, automatic feeder.
    It’s laser vs lcd, and it has a door that opens sideways. That’s about where the differences end.
    It feels like it’s all one company making slightly different variations to cash in on more than one kickstarter.

    I completely enjoyed watching this. I’m having a bad week too I think it works much better as behind-the-scenes members video than it does as one of your standard reviews. Despite your clarification at the end I found it really hard to believe that you were recommending this printer. But as I said, I love the video. My experience with bamboo lab support regarding my P1 P has really been an eye-opening experience about how reluctant these companies are to provide The level of customer service and return policies that many of us have become accustomed.

      I've actually said to support i've ran integrations at Siemens germany at age 16, i've quite literally made the machines that made the machines that make your product.
      It does clear up the bs and depending the company can get you a line to backoffice support to actually resolve some issues.
      But i wouldn't just rely on the channel when doing so (unless you'd use sub numbers/reach and impact on sales as pressing points.... which can be taken the wrong way, get back online and then impact you negatively. Really not ideal and would keep that for actual safety hazards lol 😅).
      Like they definitely ran your name through google or youtube, but willing to bet they haven't done more than skim through the content at best.
      'Drama' and clickbaity titles have rather adverse effects on people of a certain age in certain tech positions to word it nicely lol
      Cold hard facts, straight to the point tech info they can work with and accolades that have some tech merrit is what you'd want to send them.

    This issue only started after the hole / replacement film / removal of the protector so it stands to reason that caused the problem. Hopefully the new screen protector replacement helps. Thanks for this very insightful review. For resin printing I have 4 Saturn 2s + 4 Jupiters in our printing lab. They are super reliable, and Elegoo support is absolutely amazing when I had issues with any of them.
    This video reminds me why I’m just waiting for a company like Elegoo to release a massive printer much larger than the Jupiter. Dealing with some to these other companies seems like a nightmare. Reminds me of the nightmares of buying a Phenom that is was an instant return after 2 prints, it was also a clunker 😂

  • @AnimeKazuki
    @AnimeKazuki 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I really wished this review came out before the kickstarter finished. Honestly this is one of the things I was most concerned about. I wasn't scared of it being a scam, or not being a good machine. I was worried of how the support would be. I live in Hawaii, and I had to pay $600 shipping for this machine. If I wanted the wash and cure, they said that would be another $600. So my biggest issue really was how customer support was, and whether I would need to be paying a arm and a leg for replacement parts if I did ran into issues. I already know based off the Emake Galaxy1 that there would likely be some bumps in the road, particularly shipping damage considering how heavy this machine is. I gave benefit of doubt on slower communication in the facebook group considering I know how kickstarters can have alot of negative people. In particularly those who get mad when the question they asked that has already been asked hundreds of times isn't personally responded to. Really wish one of the more established printer companies would come out with a good large printer that could be closer to $1500. I do find it promising that the Galaxy1, Apexmaker, and now Starfield 3D showed a bunch of demand, so maybe we will see more soon.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah we are finally in a new generation of printers and this is a good printer, I hope I made that clear. but your concerns have been echoed here and I'm sorry, but also glad I could show people.

    I don't think you sounded arrogant or snarky in this review at all. It's not so much to ask for a little customer service. My Fokoos Odin 5 F3 came to me defective from the factory and after spending months and a bunch of parts later trying to get it work, it never worked right and is sitting in the trunk of my car right now... So many companies now want to release a product, build hype and offer no support after the fact.

  • @fluxcapacitor
    @fluxcapacitor 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm glad I saw this rant till the end so I am now aware that all the issues were not directly caused by how the printer is done technically, but 1) difficulties in communicating with the manufacturer because of the massive time zone differences, the language barrier and the filters imposed by their government; and 2) the machine having being crushed and f-up during transport (the most important part).
    I know this was a test prototype. But IRL, on a commercial unit, the best answer from a customer is to refuse such a parcel and send it back to the sender to get a proper replacement unit instead. No weird technical issues of that sort would have been experienced afterward, problems in the end that were pretty unique to you.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Whilst I completely hear you. My warning was be careful of how poorly this company communicates. because I'm saying this relative to knowing how all the other companies communicate.
      And if you have a look at the Facebook groups online, you'll see just how many people are now complaining about this company because they either have no printer, or a faulty printer for various reasons, some hazardous. and the company is just staying near silent to everyone.
      it;s an echo chamber of exactly what I said here. Not just bad communication, terrible to no communication.
      I have been speaking with them in what'sapp since January regarding the X1 Mini. and they message me at 3am randomly. or when they do message me during my awake times. I get "Hi Ross", I then reply immediately and they don;t respond to days. Whay are they even saying "Hi" they have done this about 12 times now. and it's just insane.

    • @fluxcapacitor
      @fluxcapacitor 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FauxHammer Thank you for the insight added about their catastrophic communication, because I was considering the upcoming X2. Insane as you say, especially with respect to the large amount of money spent by customers on these high-end machines. Speaking of very bad communication and large printers, the complete radio silence from Coolsiga since early 2024 is puzzling too (nobody received their machine, and the reboot from the FInderOne 136 to the completely different Classic One looks like a vaporware - a printer that it seems does not even exist out of a few 3D renderings)… I guess we now have to wait for more serious companies to come up with decent large printers.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fluxcapacitor No worries. another example of this was the Ultraprint, which found it;s way to some reviewers but I spotted it was a re-shelled Saturn 3 and warned people about it. You should see how much hate i got from the Community on Facebook for that machine. The company even responded by promising all users a 60 day free trial with full refunds if peopel were not happy. But now they ahve not responded to anyone since January except to say "we can't refund you becasue Kickstarter took a percentage of the money" Which is also what I warned people of...
      It was a complete scam..
      I think my frustration here though is that this X1, and the X2 (which ahs actually been renamed the X1 mini months ago but they never updated the site) are incredible machines! But you just cannot trust the company to support you. Mine is still broken... I use it as a table.

    • @fluxcapacitor
      @fluxcapacitor 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FauxHammer I have a scoop for you then: the X2 is real, and it's not the X1 mini but the second generation of the X1 (Yes, I know that at some point in the past the upcoming X1 mini was improperly nicknamed the X2). The build volume of the true X2 is a bit smaller than that of the X1 in XY (same 400 mm in Z though) because it has a 14" screen instead of the 16" screen in the previous version. But the definition is now 16K instead of 8K (with three times more pixels), what's more with SQUARE pixels (24.8 × 24.8 µm). The X2 is still huge AND is now high resolution too!
      It was "presented" by Apex Maker (rather hidden in their printed catalogue…) alongside the X2 mini at the 3D PRINT LYON exhibition in France, two weeks ago. You can see a picture of the catalogue page with these new printers in Thomas' video "News creatives 5" (French language, decent automatic subs available) on the PolyWorkshop YT channel, 1 min and 11 sec in ;-)

    Yea with all the problems with no support from the company, it doesn't give me a warm fuzzy about them. If you don't have good customer and technical service, when problems arise with just a few youtubers, imagine how much worse it will be when they get a ton of people.
    The big problem I see is the size and weight of this monster. I"ve worked at a UPS shipping warehouse in the US and I can tell you heavy items sometimes get flipped onto delivery vans like a strongman competition, or sometimes accidents just happen and stuff falls down (so yea packaging needs to be the best).
    I think this printer is a prosumer because of its size but not a prosumer product because of the lack of customer service and product support. That alone makes it a no, for me. Thanks for the video. I would have rage quite early if it was me.

      @@FauxHammer Thank you for your review and reply, I saw your video a while back but decided to back it anyway I'm glad that I did because it's a game changer especially if you like to print big. I just really hoped they would fix the support like they PROMISED they would once the Kickstarter was over.
      Unfortunately that's not happened if anything it's even harder to get a reply and they have stopped taking payments via there website so you can't buy one if you had the cash ready to go and that's kind of worrying!
      It's not so bad for me because I got the printer for £1150 so having to pay $300 for a screen isn't a huge deal but if you just spent £2500 on one + taxes and duties you really REALLY want that warranty and good quality customer service!
      I haven't been able to edit footage for a few months due to sickness and software problems so I haven't been uploading videos but I just purchased the full version of Davinci Resolve so I might do a little review myself next week.. Anyway I will point people to your review as you have already done an amazing job covering the X1 so I'm going to try and focus mainly on it's printing capabilities + some of the problems I've come across like them trying to save £1 by installing cheap nasty power switches like WHYYYY do that surly things can't be that bad you need to save £1 at the risk of customers getting electrocuted and machines dying because fuses are popping for £1!!

    wow, 45kg. With metal lid and gas stoppers. lol. Probably it will be not your exceptional damage-during-transportation issue. Based on damage you showed, it feels like it can't handle its weight. And.... why they did that? for what reason? I have CNC with 300x400mm table, 10mm thick steel portal and its weight only 30kg.
    Heated VAT - I like it. Really nice.
    Build volume - I rather like it than not. Yes, huge resin sucker. But good for some functional prints with rigid resins.
    Another good trend that Elegoo has started - is to use motherboard with ARM chip that can handle linux kernel. That significantly reduces cost/effort required to make good/stable/responsive UI and that gives all the networking protocols, HID devices, effortless internal storage, etc. For free. Because that's part of the kernel itself. I'm sure that it running on linux kernel because its UI looks pretty standard. But.... I can't see wifi there. Is it there? Because there is no reason to not add it when you already have motherboard running linux kernel. It costs nothing.
    Communication.... well, that feels alarming. Completely share with you your pain point here. It's not only about customer service. It's about engineering and production culture as well. If I would give my product for 3d-party beta-test/review to experienced person like you, I would assign dedicated support to guide you. Just to gather beta-test experience/issues just to be more confident on release. Not a big deal to support few chosen-one beta testers with dedicated engineer even if you don't have strong and solid customer service support. But that if I would care about my product and/or have clear understanding why this is important.
    Even if you had bad luck with it - they could support you, replace it, do something. Instead of saying "go buy saw". lol
    I would not trust to such company. Too high risk that mistakes will never be fixed.

    I don't get FauxHammer, releasing this video like a week after the kickstarter ends and yet you had it 6 weeks prior. Who is this video for, people that cancelled their pledge ? Because it's too late for us ! You are talking negativly about the fact that it's big and heavy, it's only 8k (46um), the buildplate is not laser etched... We already know all of that ! I don't understand why you say this printer does only passable miniatures. It is clearly not a printer meant for miniatures with it's 46um... Again, we know what we are buying. I get the fact that you are salty because yours got damaged during shipping and not having stellar customer service. Most of your gripes are because of this and this won't our typical experience with it. Multiple times in this video you say you will come back to a topic but you don't, I guess it speaks for the overall quality of this "preview". Finishing this Walter White style, do you know who I am ?!? Really.... I'm not impressed.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you missed the point.
      The printer itself is great and I'm not saying meh it only does a passable job. I'm saying wow it even does a passable job on miniatures. and sorry but yeah. miniature printer companies who print to sell are looking at printers like this.
      What did I not come back to. because as I wrote this script I made a note of every single "i'll come back too" since I knew it was getting excessive and made suer to have a point to say on each of them in he conclusion>
      Video release date was out of my hands and as captioned in the video, feel like the brand intentionally delayed me to avoid this video going out sooner. I wish i had got it out sooner but it looks like I didn't need to because they lost so many pledges in the final days with many comments blaming their poor communication.
      And I never said "Do you know who i am" I'm said I wanted to say that through the frustration and accusation and continued dumb requests to try tests I had already told them I had done. The point was, they were driving me to arrogance.
      This video is basically, great printer, bad company. And that is something that many people seem to have valued.
      I'm sorry if this video arrived late for you, I'm sorry if it didn't resonate with you. But it;s here for the Thousands of potential buyers, even now it's gone live who are considering this product.
      But mostly, this is, here's my opinion of this printer and this new brand. and in a year from now. people can look back and go - FauxHammer was wrong. And I hope that's the case. I hope this video which has almost had more views in a week than the next best had in 3 weeks. Lights a fire under this brands ass,, they realise how shit they are being, and based on many other comments here, not just with me. And they sort it out.
      In which case, I'll sleep sound believing I've done a good job.
      Or, they'll ignore it and in a year, others will echo my comments, in which case, My video was right.

    It makes you wonder how small the NA market for these must be that they care so little about providing more than slow T1 support to one of the more popular if niche reviewers. People that find and appreciate your channel are going to be converted into purchasers at a way higher rate than the average person.
    "I'm aware of it (arrogant tone) and I would stop it if I knew how" 30 minutes later... "Do you know who I am?!" lol not including those comments would be a start, I don't disagree and getting upset doesn't bother me at all though, statements like blaming your resin are flat-out insulting and are more than a simple language barrier.
    ApexMaker is definitely coming out swinging though, if they get all this ironed out before launch it's going to be an enticing choice for enthusiasts with more of a budget.
    I very much look forward to the dream printer 5~ years from now that combines a matured version of these technologies and isn't >$2000. self-levelling plate, heated self-filling reservoir, failed print detection. etc...
    I'm curious, what is a feature these printers could have that nobody has implemented yet that isn't yet a thing? What about a build-plate heater to assist with removing prints? Or a wash station that has a step that sprays the model with pressurized cleaner other than or in addition to submerging it?

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The innovation i want is a slicer that cures supports at a higher light intensity than the rest of the model. they do this in industrial grade printers and the results are that supported monster teeth the size of needles allow the supports to snap off easily and show no damage t the part, becase the support has been made more brittle than the cured model.

    • @Thardoc
      @Thardoc 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is an amazing printer, let down by the company who make it with their poor communication, inability to send these without them breaking during delivery and total lack of customer service. they are a joke of a company.

    I really like the features this thing has. Honestly if they made it a bit smaller and upped the resolution to 20-30 um than they would have a top tier system. Especially if they add lights to the inside, but I can just mod that in myself with an led strip. Its a shame that they have such support, I dont think anyone is willing to throw that much cash at a machine that has this level of customer support. Especially when you can buy a GKtwo for less!

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @antongunther3977
      @antongunther3977 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@handznet size of the print bed isn't everything. There is an inverse relationship between resolution of the printer and its screen size. We are getting better resolution with larger screens in more modern 3d printers so as time goes on we will get higher resolution large printers. But When this comment was written the company should have reduced size by a small amount so that they could have something over the competition.
