Did Harley-Davidson do the Milwaukee 8 version of the Heritage Softail Classic justice or do you still prefer the Twin Cam and Evo years of the Heritage?
Spokes look better BUT mag wheels are easier. No tube is a huge plus. A tubeless tire can be plugged on the side of the road. You don't have to chase spokes either. After about 30,000 miles spokes become a pain in the ass. My wife's Slim has about 50,000 now. Just had to get rear respoked when two broke. My Street Bob looks amazing with spokes, but I plan on getting mag wheels.
I love my ‘98 EVO FLSTC. Got her in pristine condition with only 20k on her for $3k from a good friend of my pops. Coming from a 2005 Honda Shadow Spirit VT750DC as my very first bike for two years. I dearly loved that thing, rode it every single day as my daily and which I got t-boned on 3 months back. The HSC just screams Harley-Davidson and is a bike that definitely has that Harley look 😎
I always enjoy my 2009 Twincam Heritage Softail. And I appreciate learning from your channel. At 71 years old, I skipped 40 years of cycles due to raising my family and decided it was time to return to my 2 wheeled wing therapy. 2 years riding now with almost 5000 miles per year.
Same here. Picked it up 2 years ago with 12k miles on it for a good price. Put a S&S gear drive cam kit in it to eliminate the tensioners so I won't have to worry about that. I love it.
My heritage is what got me off the metric cruisers. It is the true essence of what a motorcycle is supposed to be. Not too much going on, simple and enough amenities to satisfy. Just ride. Was so impressed i bought another '24. A road glide in whiskey fire chrome
I just got a 2024 Hydra-Glide Revival, which is a throwback nod to the old 1950s Hydra-Glide panheads. It’s actually a Heritage Classic all decked out like some of those others you showed, especially in the Evo era, with their conches, frills, and gorgeous two-tone tanks. I totally love it for its style, and for the Heritage Classic body and components.
I have a 99 Evo springer (the silver striper) I went old school because I like the character and think that most “technology” is a) more stuff to go wrong, and b) just a way to make simple things complicated. Mine is 95% original (Has billet twin pot callipers) so one has to be happy with the size of your nether regions because you’re never going to be first away from the traffic lights, but it plonks along at 55-60 and does what it says on the tin. 👍
That teal 2 tone Evo heritage was always my favorite. My sister and brother in law had a white and blue heritage springer. I lost her in 2020 to als and my brother in law a year later. My nephew and I got it running again and are planning a total rebuild
Had a Heritage '87 Evo and the later '02 Twin cam - Many, many Kms travelled over here in Oz. - always reliable.Great bikes - now on a SG. Always thought the Heritage was a big bike - until the SG arrived in the garage. Had to deliver the Twin cam to its new owner - it felt like I was riding a Honda 50 stepthrough after the SG. The older versions look a lot better... more traditional.
The early Evo and twin cam Heritage absolutely nailed the original Harley style with developing technology, the 1st Softail frame has something that the M8 one never will, It just sits different and is closer to that rigid look it pays homage to.
Just saw an 06 Heritage Softail Classic at TB HD. 7K miles and they want 7999. Brand new tires front and rear, brand new pads front and rear and 3 hole service, polished forks....maroon cherry in color....stunning! ♥️
The wife and I absolutely love our 2012 Heritage Softail Classic. Black, lots of chrome. A very comfortable ride. Over 97K miles, 103, stage one with Vance and Hines cross over exhaust. Now I feel if it's a "Heritage" it needs to have the spoke wheels.
I always liked the look of the Heritage but didn't get around to buying one until last year as a retirement gift to myself. The 114 makes great power and the wire wheels and two tone blue and grey look fantastic. I'll probably go with white walls when the time comes.
I bought my pristine 99 Evo Heritage in 2018 with just over 21k on the odometer. It may be the best $4k I ever spent. In fact, there isn't a single bike in HD's showroom today that I'd take in its place. I have a couple riding buddies that have dropped more $ on their exhaust, tuning and Chinese chrome skulls than I did for the bike and they spend more time chatting with me about my bike than they do about theirs.
@conservativeteacher1987 guy I ride with has a 2000 softtail custom . Stroked with jugs. It sounds amazing and holds its own. He said he will never sell it.
I have a 2003 Heritage Classic anniversary edition. Have put 49,000 on it with room for many more miles. Will never part with it, and have grown up riding every bike I could find. Still the best thing on the road
I have the '15 Heritage. I bought used so that I'd have the studded leather bags. I don't care for the '17s and newer. Wanted the nostalgic look, but modern reliability. All-in-all, to each his/her own.
I love my 2017 heritage. It rides smooth comfortable and looks like an old school Harley. The new ones are alright, but for me it’s classic old school style. I did put a road thunder MDX speaker. Now she’s the perfect bike for me.
It really is!!! Since Heritage Softail may have smaller size than touring bike (Roadking Classic) yet still you could put the soft bagger on the rear for those whom wants a smaller bike but could bring you further than another softail. Heritage softail was just another Harley model that has no haters (everybody loves it, young gun and veterans). It has its own class, nobody could compare it
Original Heritage Softail ! Mine is the Springer model; 88b (2003 anniversary issue, gun metal blue | grey) Cast wheels ruin the look of the bike, IMHO. ... must be bright white wall tires over clean bright spoked wheels. And, oh boy, that springer front end,... baby, I swear you could take that front end off that bike and hang it in a room by itself at the Chicago Institute of Art and people would pay extra money to come and see it ! marcus
I'm too new to the game to know anything about the older bikes, but I do know that I love my 2021 Heritage. It's an absolute blast to be on, and the wife loves it, too.
The only experience I've had with a Heritage was about 15 years ago. I rented one in Maui and did the road to Hana with my 300 lb ex on the back. I can tell you that it was a good days work. Then we came back around on the dirt road. (Don't tell the rental co.) I liked the bike a lot. It was comfortable and handled well, even on the dirt road. It was a chore working it around all of those hairpins with the extra weight, but a great day nevertheless. Wouldn't trade that memory for anything. I'm not a big fan of spoke wheels these days. I like the look, but they're a pain in the ass. As far as engines, I don't have any experience with the M8, but you can't go wrong with an Evo, and I've grown to love my carburated twin cam. I ride mostly back roads these days, so I prefer an FX to an FL, but the Heritage is a great bike and a classic for sure.
I’ve got the 2016 103HO heritage classic… love the saddle bags.. love the studs.. love the spoke rims with white wall tires and the red logo on the tank..
I have a 2023 blue and grey, with the blacked out look. I absolutely love this bike. I also own a 2013 Street glide. That bike sat in my garage almost all summer. I think I rode it once last season. The Heritage is just that good. It's the best handling Harley I've owned, and I've owned a lot of Harleys. Milwaukee 8 in 114 is a great engine. The new soft tail frame is great. I could go on, but you get the idea.😊
The MOO GLIDE.. The bike that made me fall head over heels in love with Harley Davidson In the 90s was 15 years old working at the local hardware store and a dude rolled up on one. Only recently learned that the cow hide seat and that color combo was a factory limited edition. Found a super clean one recently but dude wanted $17k for it. Thought about it for min .. but of the impact seeing that bike had on my life .. but damn.. a lot of loot
@chrismartin500 Yeah, they look really good on garage queens. Back in the '80s, I hit a piece of 4x4 lumber at 70, right at dusk when yo can't see shit. It bent my spoked 21" rim into a V on both sides that you could touch the tube thru, but the tire never blew out. It then went under my skid plate and picked the front wheel up off of the ground before spitting it out, and my "stupid looking" 16" ape hangers allowed me to put enough leverage into the bars to keep the bike up. A mag would've shattered to shit, and low bars would ripped right out of my hands. You keep the mags, the big screen TV and all of that other stupid shit you people stick on motorcycles nowadays. Ride Safe.
@@rarebreed9208 Way easier to fix a flat on the road with mags. As for the touch screens and radios, yeah that aint this guy, I ripped the radio right out of my UC. Keep the shiny side up bud.
@chrismartin500 I've been riding for 51yrs, and I'm just trying to save lives, because mags shatter, and they don't have tubes to keep the air in when they do. That's why I say they don't even belong on a motorcycle. We need every advantage we can get to survive.👍
Bought my evo Heritage brand new in 96' and still have it. Has the old look to it, though the new ones are great too. Such a blast to ride it.. even if it is rigid mounted motor. Will keep long time
I like the heritage. It fits an important role in the Harley line up - you get a less expensive bike compared to the touring models that can still do some light touring.
I own a 2001 heritage and absolutely love it. When crusing on the streets, I take the windshield off for the extra breeze. I put some viking saddlebags and love the versatility of it
I rode a 93 fatboy and then an 09 softail custom for years. In 2018 I bought a new Roadglide Ultra to see what the whole touring bike craze was like and to try out the new M8 engine. The bike was great and I enjoyed it until this spring 2024. I missed being behind a set of chrome bars and a chrome headlight. The Roadglide fairing is wondefull but honestly with all the plastic, stereo, navigation and stuff it just reminded me of being in the car. It is a heavy machine too. Having been on softails for almost 30 years I missed the simpler more raw biking experience. This Spring I traded the Roadglide ultra for a 2024 Heritage Classic. The M8 114 has great power, and the bike has a much sportier feel to it but yet you can still tour on it very comfortably. I think the M8 is a great engine. It's very torquey, smooth and responsive. I love it so far.
I bought a used 2012 Heritage Classic 103 this spring. I sold my dad's old H-D (Sportster) after much thought and agony as I had inherited it from him. But I really don't regret the decision as I think that the Heritage Classic is the most beautiful of all Harleys and on top of that it’s comfortable and easy to drive - not at all like the “painful experience” the Sportster could be :D
@@petterwallin4381 Sorry for your dad's passing, As my dad started us kids on bikes in 1968, at 10 yrs old, Still riding at 66 yrs young, Ride into the sunset with a smile thinking of your Dad.
@@wjb111 I'm considering trading in my 2005 XL1200C carbed Sporty towards the 2006 Heritage Softail Classic over at TBHD. How long have you had yours and what sets it apart from other bikes you've owned?
@@eddiegerlach7121 I’ve owned it 5 years and it’s my first road bike so I can’t compare to any other HD. Only rode MX cycles. 65 years old and still ride both. Chances are you will Love the FLSTCI Cheers!
I've owned several Harleys in the past, but a 2023 Heritage was the first Harley I ever bought brand new last December. I have no regrets at all with the bike or any of the buying/ownership experience over the first year. It's all worked out awesome and that's something that's hard to say about a lot of products and dealing with companies today. I'll call myself lucky and keep running with it. If looking for a better handling and more manageable bike than a heavyweight touring frame that can still do some light touring, at least test ride a Heritage or a Low Rider Softail.
Ordered a new, 1989 FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic; Candy Bronze and Creme two-tone from Biff's Harley-Davidson, New Cumberland, PA. Still remember picking it when it came in. Own a 2019 Billiard Blue/Billiard White 114 Heritage now. Objectively, the '19 outdoes the '89 in every performance metric... If you can say Harley has a performance metric, that's not what theses bikes are about. Subjectively, the "89 Evo I had kicks the '19 in the back side. The proportions of the '89 and its perfect "fit" of the Evo engine in the frame was better. Even the stance of the "old" Heritage bikes were more aesthetically pleasing. However, that cool stance meant not such a great lean angle. Position the '19 for a corner and its telepathic steering holds the line exceptionally well. The new Heritage's ride quality has to be experienced to understand, it's that good. I ride for 2-3 hours before wanting to dismount. Then, there is the sound of that beautiful Evo, engine, sorry, but I think it's the best sounding engine out of H-D in the last 40 years. Would I rather keep my M8 or retrieve my '89 Evo? Hands down, I'd drop my '19 in a heartbeat and opt for the venerable Evo.
I'm on my second Heritage. I had a 2012 and now own a 2023. The 23 is a good looking bike and is hands down a better bike, but the 12 is the prettiest vehicle I have ever owned.
You are right, in the last 30 odd years- i've owned Fxrs, Dynas, Sporters, Fat boys and more recently a Herrtidge soft tail. Always interested me and finally buckled and had to have one- stripped down!, Evo only l. 👍
I'm a little partial to the original bike. And for sure, wire wheels for it. Just looks better. I love cast, got them on my bike, but this bike does not look as good with them. Somethings ya just need to leave alone. Another great video. Thanks!
I have a 2018 with the 114. This is my first Harley and probably my last, as this bike has every single thing I need. Ride is awesome and it is very comfortable. Easy to toss around as needed on the curvy roads, and is stable (enough) at highway speeds. Love this bike. Looks, power, handling, it has it all.
A friend of mine had one with a 103 in it. I don’t remember the year. It was a nice bike. He even let me ride it once. As nice as it was, I wouldn’t give up my Road King for one.
Great video! I have a 95 FLSTN which I love and would not part with. I was in my local dealer yesterday here in the UK and saw a new FLSTC in plain black with clear screen and chrome wire wheels and I'll tell you if I had a spare £17,000 I'd have one in a heartbeat to keep my 95 FLSTN company! This says something as I'm not keen on modern H-D's. Thanks for the video.
I always like that when they came out that switch back.. never had one I had a friend that bought one over in England and he still has it he repainted it in antiquite.
I prefer the older style of the Heritage. I had a 07 and loved it. I replaced it with a full dresser but the Heritage was a great bike. The only thing I didn't like was the low ground clearance. You don't want to get into a corner to hot on one. Later
I have said it before and I will say it again . I have a 91 heritage and 99 sportster I tell my wife she can keep the sportster, but bury me with my heritage
One thing about the evo Softail that stops it from being a serious contender as a tourer is the vibration Studs and tassels have never been very popular here in the UK but the black and white CowGlide Heritage Classic is probably my favourite for looks
I’ve always loved the heritage, those big swooping fenders are classic I already have an 96 softtail springer so I recently decided to pull the trigger in a 2020 heritage with a 107. adding a full cam chest/oil pump/cam upgrade next week and I expect to be very satisfied. I have the evo for weekend cruises and events and now the m8 can be the work horse for long distances and daily abuse
I had a M8 and a Heritage with the 96 twin cam there was something missing with the M8 and it was the sound especially at the top end any gear M8 had the power but the TC sounded so much better I sold the M8 and bought a vette.......yea it's all about the sound and looks for me 😂😅😂😅😂
I've got a 2007 with 96Ci. Donny Doyle added cam, 2 into 1 Bassani, and sweet tune to let it roll. Love the look and smooth ride. Even if you reconcile, get a Heritage.
Twin Cam Heritage is my favorite motorcycle of all time. I owned a 2002 for many years. I loved the 88 and I have a 2017 now I love the 103 high output. I hope it out lives me. I really Don t want a new Harley. My 1st was an Evolution Sportster. I love the 88 Twin Cam carb bikes. However my 103 is a great bike. I enjoy riding and working on the bike.
Good morning 🌅, it’s obvious old school nothing but old school, and we all know the reason why, We can work on them, 😂, I used to know some couples back in the UK , where they had identical bikes or virtually back in the early 90s through the 2000s, Chilton Hills chapter , 😂, Weekend Warriors, 😂, ride safe boys and girls, ride free,
Did Harley-Davidson do the Milwaukee 8 version of the Heritage Softail Classic justice or do you still prefer the Twin Cam and Evo years of the Heritage?
Anything that looks like a Road King has to be a classic, thanks Gixx

The chrome studs and wire wheels were the 💩.
The black studs and cast wheels aren't heritage, or classic.

I own a 2001 heritage and absolutely love it. When crusing on the streets, I take the windshield off for the extra breeze. I put some viking saddlebags and love the versatility of it
Spoked wheels! Mine is a 1990 Heritage Classic. Love that Evo engine!
'06 Springer Softail Classic, the Springer front end is unique and it's not a bad front end
Sounds like you found your way back to what you really love!
@@Scott-rr7dy will do as you say - ride with a smile, and be thankful for the introduction to riding H-D!
Love my 06 Heritage Soft tail Classic!
@@wjb111 I'm considering trading in my 2005 XL1200C carbed Sporty towards the 2006 Heritage Softail Classic over at TBHD. How long have you had yours and what sets it apart from other bikes you've owned?
My next door neighbor has a 06 softail. He paid 1/3 what I paid for my 2018 Heritage 114. Sucker runs good!
@@eddiegerlach7121
I’ve owned it 5 years and it’s my first road bike so I can’t compare to any other HD. Only rode MX cycles.
65 years old and still ride both.
Chances are you will Love the FLSTCI
Cheers!
I like the cast wheels
I love my 2014 Harley Heritage
I'm on my second Heritage. I had a 2012 and now own a 2023. The 23 is a good looking bike and is hands down a better bike, but the 12 is the prettiest vehicle I have ever owned.
You are right, in the last 30 odd years- i've owned Fxrs, Dynas, Sporters, Fat boys and more recently a Herrtidge soft tail. Always interested me and finally buckled and had to have one- stripped down!, Evo only l. 👍
You really can't go wrong with an Evolution-powered Heritage Softail!
Twin Cam style all the way hands down 😊
Can't argue with that!
I have a 2000 Heritage! Love it
I'm a little partial to the original bike. And for sure, wire wheels for it. Just looks better. I love cast, got them on my bike, but this bike does not look as good with them. Somethings ya just need to leave alone. Another great video. Thanks!
Love my 2010 heritage 👍🇦🇺
Got an 18' blacked out with a 114. LOVE IT!
I love the play on words about ohbumma's " you didn't build that"
I like my heritage classic TC 95 from 2002.
Good stuff. I have a buddy who has a 2003 , still looks good he upgraded to a 95” so it’s still running strong. Good bikes. Thanks
I love those 95's, short stroke with added bore goes a long ways!
Evo heritage all the way.
Finally! I've been waiting all week for the new video, Bro! Hope ya have a great weekend!🤘
Thanks man! You too!
I want the heritage with the 114 and new chassis and suspension all the way
A friend of mine had one with a 103 in it.
I really like them both. I have a 2003 anniversary and a 2010. Wouldn't mind a M8 either...Thx !!
Excellent review. Totally agree. I like them all.
I have a 2016 Dyna switchback w/ 103 I love it!!!❤❤❤
I always like that when they came out that switch back.. never had one I had a friend that bought one over in England and he still has it he repainted it in antiquite.
I prefer the older style of the Heritage. I had a 07 and loved it. I replaced it with a full dresser but the Heritage was a great bike. The only thing I didn't like was the low ground clearance. You don't want to get into a corner to hot on one. Later
Older definitely I'm looking for an Evo version now awesome bike
I actually like the older classic look - especially as a RK Classic owner. Not really a fan of the modern era Harley’s.
I have said it before and I will say it again . I have a 91 heritage and 99 sportster I tell my wife she can keep the sportster, but bury me with my heritage
I’ve always liked this model. Never had one though.
My favorite was always the Deluxe.
One thing about the evo Softail that stops it from being a serious contender as a tourer is the vibration
Studs and tassels have never been very popular here in the UK but the black and white CowGlide Heritage Classic is probably my favourite for looks
I have a 2020 heritage 114 man what a machine.
Mine is a 2012 with the 103 and I love it
love my 1998 95 anniversary springer
Good evening from Indiana
I’ve always loved the heritage, those big swooping fenders are classic
I already have an 96 softtail springer so I recently decided to pull the trigger in a 2020 heritage with a 107. adding a full cam chest/oil pump/cam upgrade next week and I expect to be very satisfied.
I have the evo for weekend cruises and events and now the m8 can be the work horse for long distances and daily abuse
Lost my 94 heritage in a fire.
Was such a reliable ride. Oil and fuel, and you're good to go. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
I'm pretty sold on my 2017 Street glide, but I sure like the looks of the heritage classic. I'd have to ride one to see how they compared.
My wife had a 03 and it had a great balance . 😊
I had a M8 and a Heritage with the 96 twin cam there was something missing with the M8 and it was the sound especially at the top end any gear M8 had the power but the TC sounded so much better I sold the M8 and bought a vette.......yea it's all about the sound and looks for me 😂😅😂😅😂
Once my divorce is finalized, I'm getting me a twincam heritage 😎
I've got a 2007 with 96Ci. Donny Doyle added cam, 2 into 1 Bassani, and sweet tune to let it roll. Love the look and smooth ride. Even if you reconcile, get a Heritage.
Get it CARBURETED!!!
I got recently the FXLRS but my first choice was the Heritage Softail. Can’t beat the Classic Harley look with some “modern” amenities in my opinion
@@lanceandmelanierogers6255 is there any other way? Lol
Good for you brother 😅
i like it that you can have the choice on the wheels
Twin Cam Heritage is my favorite motorcycle of all time. I owned a 2002 for many years. I loved the 88 and I have a 2017 now I love the 103 high output. I hope it out lives me. I really Don t want a new Harley. My 1st was an Evolution Sportster. I love the 88 Twin Cam carb bikes. However my 103 is a great bike. I enjoy riding and working on the bike.
Good morning 🌅, it’s obvious old school nothing but old school, and we all know the reason why, We can work on them, 😂,
I used to know some couples back in the UK , where they had identical bikes or virtually back in the early 90s through the 2000s,
Chilton Hills chapter , 😂, Weekend Warriors, 😂, ride safe boys and girls, ride free,
I bought a 2023 FLHCS ANV model love it and the new frame and handling
The heritage classic has that panhead knucklehead DNA. The modern one with cast wheels and cheesy bags don't cut it.
