    The best Harley Iv ever owned was a 1997 1340 evolution dyna. Never had a moments problem with it. But I keep maintenance up on all my stuff from lawnmowers to automobiles. You take care of it and it’ll treat you right. I had a 2002 sporster but I looked like a giant on it.

    i've owned two sportsters, both have been rock solid and pretty easy to work on yourself.
    there's a bunch of how to videos and endless forums for every problem you might encounter.
    also you can take them into a lot of directions style wise, want a sportster bagger? sure, want a performance mini dyna? go for it, want a slick chopper ? hell ya.
    it's a little swiss army bike

    I have a 95 same color 1200. Got it relatively cheap. Turned it into a chopper and stripped her down to just a brake light and headlight. Ditched all the stock wiring. Relocated the starter to a push start. Changed the air intake and put some Bassani exhaust. Then went with mini ape hangers. So it’s a labor of love and I love it. Just have to be willing to put some time in and get your hands a little dirty. I’ll never get the money I have invested into it but I don’t plan on getting rid of her anytime soon either.

    The labor is way to high 175.00 an hour here in Texas, Harley wanted me to pay them 1 hour labor for each wheel that I removed and pay 175.00 plus the tire. So I went to the Suzuki dealer got the same Dunlop tire mounted for 20.00 a wheel, this is what is wrong here.

    • @MasonGeorgeMotorcycles

      @@robynjones4837 it sounds like the Harley shop quoted you the price to do them if you brought the whole bike in and the Suzuki shop quoted you if you just brought your just wheels with the tires… if this Suzuki shop is willing to take your wheels off the bike and mount the tires for $20 that would be a huge red flag because it wouldn’t even cover the shop overhead for the time your bike was on the lift and definitely not a place you would trust with your motorcycle

    That's a sweet bike. Love the light blue paint, the unpainted aluminum, and the chrome. I would add some more chrome to it. NO FLAT BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate those crimped clamps H-D uses on the fuel line. Japanese bikes have MUCH better clamps. I love the little spring clips they use, and they work great. I found cracked carbs slides in two of my Sportsters. Ethanol destroys rubber carb parts.
    There is one thing you didn't do that ALL EVO Sportsters desperately need. Replace the clutch. EVO Sportster clutches have what is commonly called a "grenade plate" It's called that because it tends to explode, filling the primary and transmission full of bits of metal. H-D calls it a spring plate. It is two metal plates riveted together, and the rivets will eventually fail. Usually before 20,000 miles. I use a Barnett "extra plate kit", and remove that grenade plate. I also replace the release bearing with an upgraded part. I can't remember the part# at the moment. But at 20,000 miles, the oem release bearing is probably about gone.

    • @MasonGeorgeMotorcycles
      @MasonGeorgeMotorcycles  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@geraldscott4302 all the aluminum parts polish to a near chrome finish as well and will last a lot longer. In the exception of factory chrome, it is really hard to find a chrome shop that can get the chrome to last on aluminum. I’m guessing the clutch has already been replaced on this and I actually made a separate video about that issue. When the clutches starting to go, you will always know because it will be hard to find neutral.

    Intake manifold leaks. Check for that. In fact, with Sportsters expect that. It will run much better when you have no air leaks. You buy a older bike for good price and it needs work and $ to get going-but now you know the history of oil change, service and tires. Buy a more expensive bike and end up doing these things anyway since you dont know.
