@@coleandcharisma my husband’s mom was quadriplegic from the time he was 8 months old. The first time I saw him eat a sandwich, I was confused🤣until he explained it to me. He grew up watching his mom hold her sandwiches, etc the same way Cole was holding his donut. Hey…whatever works, right?
I really love Coles willingness to share. These educational nuggets helped people to understand the challenges of being in a wheelchair. God has truly blessed you with the most amazingly compassionate wife. Love that you cherish each other daily. All of your parents have done an amazing job raising such beautiful and thoughtful children! GOD BLESS!

me: googling autonomic dysreflexia to understand more about Cole and the way his body works. I'm disabled in a different way (cerebral palsy), but it is still super interesting to me to learn about how different parts of the body work together, or not work together, after a SCI. I appreciate how much y'all share! And tbh seeing Cole thrive w/ his disability helps me feel less alone in my experience, so thank you.
Having autonomic dysreflexia is absolutely horrible. There are times my body gets so hot my husband will put me in the bathtub and fill it with cold water. He does that in the summer. In the winter if my A-D acts up my husband will put the fan in the window and turn it on. Sometimes it will take hours for my body to cool down. I have to take pills to get my blood pressure down. I hate it.

I got busy and forgot how much I love your channel. I'm learning a lot from Cole's perspective as someone who's physically disabled and explains things really well which is very interesting, but honestly, I feel like I'm learning even more about what a healthy couple relationship looks like.

Great in sharing even this. Can be uncomfortable procedure to discuss exactly. Prayers for healing and you feeling more comfortable.
The look on Cole’s face when he was getting in the van was the same face I made when I was going to get my last back surgery lol. I had to stay in the hospital overnight, and was able to get up after the surgery, so they let me go home. Still working on recovery tho. My hubby is the best tho! Here’s to a speedy recovery for you!

The "look" in the morning. Yes, Cole, we all feel that way about heading to a surgery. I'm always glad when they start with the anesthesia, because I tell myself, "Well, it's' really over now, because it will seem like one minute when I wake up."
Sometimes it’s just the little things that show that you and Cole are such lovely people, and that the two of you have the best relationship ever. Like the way:
- Cole puts on a cross baby face partly because he wants Charisma to feel sorry for him and baby him a little, and partly because he is genuinely a bit apprehensive over the surgery and its aftermath.
- Charisma totally gets this, so lets him get away with it, without letting him wallow too much!
- Charisma allows Cole to struggle alone as he tries to wheel himself up the ramp into the car. She only steps in to help just before he rolls back (in order to prevent feelings of failure). But after helping him she immediately tells him well done and finds the reason he struggled in the first place (too steep). This is not pretending or pandering - it’s actively looking for the reason that Cole might be finding something difficult; it’s appreciating the effort more than the success (just because Cole didn’t manage it alone this time doesn’t mean he put in any less effort than he usually does) and the result of all this careful ‘noticing’ by Charisma is that it keeps Cole’s mind focused on the truth - that he is constantly progressing in terms of the different movements and procedures he practises - without ever allowing him to think badly or negatively about himself and what he can achieve. Charisma actually does this a lot in all the videos and I find it particularly loving and positive. ♥️
- Charisma says she doesn’t want to explain Cole’s surgery herself as it’s his body and up to him how much he shares.
- Cole, as usual, shares in great unabashed detail, because he is too secure in himself as a person to ever get embarrassed about something like that. Also the way he jokes about how the ice down there is going to make him “shrivel” - just too funny, I couldn’t stop laughing!!

- Cole said ‘I’m baaaack after one of his previous surgeries - already so used to being a star on camera!
- Charisma reminds him (and us!) that they have exciting times to look forward to, so that Cole remembers they are moving to Cali shortly and won’t be stuck in bed for long!
… and a million other little things, in this video and in all your others, which in turn become the big things. Because all big things are made up of thousands of little tiny things.

Hi Cole and Charisma..since I watch your channel I couldn't stop myself to watch more videos you shared everytime I take my rest or before sleep. Your love story inspired others not only for disabled person. My son has a problem to his lower spinal cord not because of any accident but because of his job carrying heavy stones.in short private gold miner. But he is not sitting in a wheelchair thanks God. He is suffering with pain mostly at night. We couldn't afford to pay his operation only doing therapy..I shared your story to them to encourage that life must go on. Believing to the power of prayers everything will be fine.God is in control no matter what. We just always remember to have a good relationship to His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Trusting Him is so important to all of us nowadays for nobody knows when will be the last days.

I absolutely love Cole’s method of eating. The other video showed his fork and it looked brilliant! As someone who has nerve issues and has a hard time holding objects correctly, I will have to steal some of Cole’s methods. Hope you’re recovering well Cole! I’ve had dozens of surgeries myself and they never get easier. I just became naughtier.😜

Cole is such a "baby" at times when he is not too comfortable with a procedure that needs to be done but in no time he just bounce back and be his happy; bubbly self again.

🛑 Definition: HYDROCELECTOMY is surgery to remove a hydrocele. A hydrocele is a fluid-filled sac inside the scrotum. A hydrocele can happen on one or both sides of the scrotum. The doctor made a very small cut (incision) in your scrotum to drain the fluid from the hydrocele and to remove the fluid-filled sac.

Whenever I had to get surgery, I reminded myself to enjoy the sleep and that God is in charge, say a prayer because no prayer is little. Blessings.

I have had over 100(first one was before I was even a day old and then at i believe one month and here I am almost 42 years later and I have almost died several times)

@@irenedavo3768 unfortunately I will never officially be done with them Due to hydrocephalus and I have had the botox in bladder due to a neurogenic bladder(I believe Cole said he has the same thing) I have had a catheter since my early twenties and originally it was in the normal place but after about 10 years or so my doctor decided to move it to stomach and unfortunately I have had 5 or 6 hernia surgeries and they would have to move it to the"original" spot to give that area time to heal up before they could actually do the surgeries and then they would move it back to stomach and then cycle starts all over again and I could have died Nov. 8, 2018 bcuz they had to relay the tract for the actual cath AND I was awake for the entire thing the doc who was doing it kept asking if I feel tired yet(despite my mom and I both told THEM it takes a lot to knock me out and I was just like yea so he would start and then I almost died bc of the combination of meds used(and they sent me home even though I was throwing up and they said oh well and we left despite that fact that I have could have died so we get home and then mom was heading to the door to get the meds and snacks and she didn't even make it to the front door and I started puking beyond belief. I had to be rushed to another 🏥 and if we'd ✋ even ✋ 5-10 minutes I could have died turns out that I had I was in septic shock and thyroid storm and at some point one of my legs literally turned and then the hospital went into lockdown for a fire and then a missing child alerts so it was. Awhile before I was officially admitted and my middle nephew came to check on me and couldn't leave until the drills were over so he said a prayer for me and then when I finally got to a room all my stuff had "normalized" and we started laughing so hard the people in the room looked at us and was like WHY are you laughing and mom explained it and they started laughing too I was hospitalized from Thursday through Sunday
