    Okay, I'm late to the party. Everybody and their brother has already woven these, BUT they are a great beginner project. I would probably not try it for a first project, but I think most weavers could handle this cowl very early on. I really want to make another one immediately. I only have eleventy hundred more projects happening.
    Happiest of New Years. Please all be safe and healthy for the holiday, and I'll see you all in 2021!
    The colors I used for this are available for purchase at: www.knitandspi... I used Malabrigo Rios in colorways Azul Profundo and Ivy.
    You can find the instructions/pattern here: www.weftblown....
    The warping bar I use is here: etsy.me/36xsfhE

    oo.. I can't wait to get a new loom. So sad I had to leave mine back in the states. Tho it was a choice between my wheel and my loom. I'd choose the wheel every time! I so need to find more fellow crafters here in southern netherlands.

    That cowl is stunning. I lol-ed when you said everyone makes mistakes, because I had been working magic loop 2 at a time socks, and forgot to change working yarn. 🤭

Oh, and btw... if you have any desire to post a video of just weaving at regular speed, nothing special, please do! I admire the patience to just undo it, and try again. Although I can guess that there may have been a bit of salty language at first :-)

      Here's a tip for you. Call your local yarn shops that teach weaving and ask if you can Rent a loom. I called my local shop, to see what they had in stock to purchase, and in the conversation, the owner asked if I'd like to Rent the 15" Schacht. When she said $25 for 2 weeks, I about fell out of my chair, dressed and raced down there! The cost was nominal and your experience may differ, but it's worth renting and getting hands on Experience before investing. It's a great way to play, experiment, and decide what size you actually need.

    Beautiful! Love your channel. I don't spin (yet), but wet and needle felt with fibers and do some weaving. My question on this lovely piece is: How long was your scarf "before" you started weaving in the ends to form the V?

    • @FiberLoveDiary
      @FiberLoveDiary  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I followed the pattern almost exactly, so I don't remember, but I'm sure you could figure it out if you follow the instructions for this cowl. I'm not even 100% sure I know how long I wove. I think you wind on a certain amount according to the instructions and just basically leave some unwoven at the end too and then just weave it together, but it's all in the instructions.

      Mine has never banged against the table. Do you mean the thing that stands up straight? Or the thing that goes around the ball? Do you have a Stanwood?

    You will be able to tell my wife and I are new to this craft. But we have been watching your videos and enjoying them so much we have been prompted to explore the potential purchase of a loom. Can you tell me the name of the bar with the pegs on it and where it can purchased. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful work with us!!

    I just finished one using same measurements from website you post. I used a smaller loom I just got. Talk about mistakes!!! Wound it on backwards, so didn't have as long of threads as I needed to weave and have fringe, so I unwove enough. Then when setting it up to weave ... argh...I did it with a twist and then unwove it and lined it up right! I love it. How long is your warp? Did you wrap it around your neck twice?

    Thank you for your sharing of your time and your talents. Your work is beautiful. I have one question that would be great if you could answer, please. I know the pattern states how much unwoven warp to leave at the front and back, but just out of curiosity how long was the woven stretch? Basically, how many inches/cm is woven before the 2nd part of the weave? Thank you!

    • @FiberLoveDiary
      @FiberLoveDiary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't remember, but the pattern was well written and it was very clear how much to leave or weave before using the warp as weft.

    Hi! I just found your channel. Love the cowl. I was wondering what kind of loom you have and what width is it? I want to get a rigid heddle loom and I'm not sure what size to get. Thanks!

    What is the material you use to keep the yarns from sticking to each other when you wind your warp threads on the loom? It looks like some sort of silicone sheets? I’ve been using file folders but what you are using looks like it lays much flatter on the bar.

      I use drafting mylar. It's much tougher than paper, so I've never thrown a sheet out.

    Somewhere you mention where you get the plastic sheets you use as separator - but I can't find that video. Could you remind me what it is and I can find it. Thanks

      You can get them in my Etsy shop. They are kind of hard to find, and they sell fast, so I run out a lot, but I do have some in stock right now www.etsy.com/shop/FiberLoveDiary?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
