- Bonnie Paine and her sister Annie play "Stolen" during their at the Second Story Studios at the Boulder Daily Camera offices in Boulder on December 30, 2012.
Sisters Bonnie and Annie Paine have been playing music together since they were kids growing up in Tahlequah, Okla., where in their youth they performed with revered fiddler Randy Crouch. Bonnie is best known as a member of the Nederland new-folk band Elephant Revival while Annie plays bass with Meandering Orange in Oklahoma. Annie was visiting Colorado during the holidays, and the sisters swung by the Second Story Garage studio to tape a session for us.
They provided some of the most delicate music the studio has heard. Bonnie’s voice is a haunting instrument that exposes emotions in raw aural form. From the moment she began to sing, the studio took on a hushed, sanctuary-like atmosphere. She can sing just about any lyric and make it sound profound. She played guitar in a restrained style that matched her vocal delivery, and Annie supplied a subtle bass accompaniment. It was a real family session - the Paine sisters brought their father, Michael, along with them to the studio.

Annie and Bonnie Paine together... Beautiful Song.
Her cover of tool's schism with elephant revival is mesmerizing. I hope I can see them someday as I just found about her and her band on 3-20-2024 on you tube. She has an original and distinct voice and stage presence that puts you in a trance. Unintentional asmr
Beautiful ❤😊
Could listen to this on repeat all day.
😊her voice is haunting and mesmerizing
Beautiful 😢 so amazing
Bonnie has the most unique voice iv ever heard .i think its so beautiful . but thats just my opinion.
Natalie Merchant has a similar voice.
She does have a unique voice. No mistaking her for another singer. Very pretty voice too
How she she vibrates her vocal cords is awesome!
I saw these two at a coffee shop in Tahlequah when I first got out to meet people. I found out Bonnie was just in for a visit, but got to be around Annie here and there. One time we were there (out at the creek) and somehow late into the night, there was a fire that Annie and me were left at and I played my fiddle with her, then she kept playing her bass. Her hair covering her face because her head was looking at the ground, and fire light....
It will always be single most rare beautiful thing I ever saw
Her voice remainds me so much of Beth Gibbons from Portishead!
Exactly that vibrato is chilling and so beautiful.
The unique quality of Bonnie's voice is riveting! What a great gift to share playing music with your sister!
Bless you both...
She is amazing, and the band iss fantastic that is really what I think 😊 just saw them live so good
Amazing. This should have so many more views.

Saw Elephant Revival in Madison last night. Crazy about Bonnie's voice
+Carolyn Atwell Not often but every once in a while a truly artistic style comes along and captures my attention like an addiction... Hers is one of them in my book.. I cant stop listening to them/her solo etc....
beautiful, lost myself in this melody. Thank you both.
Why am I just hearing about this girl? 😢
you have an amazing voice
Wow.

Great song - sad - but great. Thanks.
im in love
itunes???
@Bonnie, @Annie, amazing talent, thank you. I'd like to buy your music to listen to on my phone, how can I do so?
amazing. like a siren. cults and small minds could totally follow her. people are so dumb. please dont use yout gift to take advantage.
I have loved her voice for a long time, but it is the way she pulls her smile further back that is so unique. Love the Alvarez - I had mine made in 1973 by Kazuo Yairi but my hands were badly injured in a car accident which ended my years in music.
