I hand washed mine in the sink with baby shampoo (I was too lazy to find something better lmao) and let it air dry! It smells really good now lol and is like new! If anything it may remove some wax 🤷♀️
Washed mine on cold in the washing machine - no problem at all (black mini). I also have the warm yellow which I scrubbed a lot and it lost a little colour, I’ll be sticking it in the washer next time though
I have a classic black kanken and the color didn’t fade. I washed it in the washing machine a couple of times but I used a special washing liquid for black clothes so maybe that’s why.
Yeah I've washed mine before! Literally worked fine and didn't ruin anything. It will just remove the wax especially over time, but you can just rewax them yourself with their waxing bar. You just clean the bag (or wash it), wipe the bar over the bag and dry it with a hair dryer. The waxing is just for treating the material and for waterproofing, but it's not necessary.
Yes, Kankens will definitely fare well in the washing machine, provided it's a cool wash with a gentle cleanser. I use soap nuts and Ecover laundry liquid. Smells good and looks much better for the experience.
Good Kånkens you have there, but only black and the lavender are genuine ones. All the others are replikas, but they seem to be good ones. All the accesories are genuine.
I think you’d be safe to wash the yellow bag in the washer on delicate/cold cycle. I washed my nieces warm yellow kanken like that and it was fine. The worry is that the colour will fade and with the lighter ones, I didn’t find that the colour changed at all. Also, they all have a lifetime of free repairs so if your green one splits, talk to someone at Fjallraven. They will repair it for free or give you a new one. Thanks for the vid!
Popping it in a pillow case (use a hair tie to close it) or mesh bag will help loads with protecting it. Air drying inside out will help it dry better too. :)
I washed my backpack in the washing machine today. I put it in a pillow case and added 2 bath towels. Very little detergent and cold water. In the end I spun very little, or not at all, and left it out in the air to dry.
You can try cheap vodka for the dance bag. Spot test it first, but lots of costumers in theatre use that to kill the smell and germs so the costumes last longer.
Great video really informative watching from London UK 🇬🇧. I don't own a FK backpack. I've only ever owned Eastpak backpacks. The cost is inexpensive, the straps are padded, so I don't have to buy them as extra accessories. Plus I can wash it in the machine, whenever I need to.

Much more comfortable, but I think the Kankens are more aesthetically pleasing and modern and not so much of a "backpack" looking, I carry my Kanken backpack everywhere even restaurants as well so I just think they're more fitting. But Eastpak are much more comfortable bags.
To be honest, i often just put my kanken into the washing machine and, in my opinion, nothing happened. Maybe i just don’t understand or still didn’t realized any of the consequences, but putting kanken into the washing machine just leaded to ruining some little seams.

I spot clean mine with MICELLAR water, works perfectly. Then spray some febreeze. 💯👍💕

put your dance bag in the freezer - it kills off the bacteria that's causing the smells and should help! x
