My Honest Opinion of the Fjallraven Kanken No. 2 15" Laptop Bag as a College Student

If you want a great backpack for commuting or university, I highly recommend the Fjällräven Räven 28L (CA$135). As the name states, it has an internal volume of 28 L. It has many functional internal compartment pockets and its side sleeves can easily and securely hold regular water bottles/tumblers.
As for the Känken No. 2 Laptop 15'' (CA$185), its capacity is 18 L [1]. As the reviewer states, the leather detailing elevates the product into a more mature-looking one (the Räven 28L also has leather detailing in its top handle and front bottom right arctic fox patch); the metal shoulder strap connectors are also a nice and expected luxurious touch at its price range.
Both packs are constructed with G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco, so you can impregnate them with wax to make them greatly more water-resistant and even more durable than its naked state.
I own both products. I use the Räven 28L when carrying capacity takes priority. Otherwise, the Känken No. 2 Laptop 15'' is great as well. I use the latter as a more casual product, such as my carry-on item, as its boxy shape and total front-loading design allow stuff (such as a toiletry bag) to be easily located and taken out when passing through airport security and the bag to easily remain in the upright position.

[1] Pro-tip: When buying a Känken backpack, if you want to hold a water bottle like a normal person, I highly suggest you also purchase the Känken Bottle Pocket (KBP) (CA$30), which is a standalone column-shaped sleeve module with a clip-style steel back frame that allows you to slide the support structure into the almost useless Känken sleeve. The KBP has a 1 L capacity, so you can even fit in those fatter plastic water bottles.

My dad was kind enough to gift me that bag for last school year and it was such a good purchase! I love it, especially the fact that it has so many compartments (eg for my laptop and iPad) and you don't have to store food and water in the same place as your electronic items is a big plus! I think it is a bit water resistant and not proof though. But I never had to deal with my backpack being soaked with rain even though I live in Germany and it rains so much here.

I want the 20L raven for my daughter instead of square kanken but the problem is that the bag doesnt stand on its own which i hate cause tnf borealis does the same thing and is quite annoying

Ugh why haven’t Kanken made these in a 17”?!? It just has far nicer detailing and looks so durable, I need a larger one for my work laptop (I do own the regular 18L recycled re-kanken version which I love)

I ended up buying the Mesa Purple and it’s stunning! Every bit as lovely as it looks in the review. S’well 17oz bottle even fits in the side pocket which I am so pleased about.Thank you for the great video
