Zelda Oracle of Ages & Seasons Are the BEST Games At The WORST Time

  • Every so often there will be a game that comes into our lives at just the perfect moment. Sometimes, on very rare occasions, you even get 2 games at once at just the right time to change your life forever. For me, such a special moment of my life happened when I first played The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Ages.

    Oracle gang rise up
    I still genuinely consider these to be peak 2D Zelda. I know most people tend to point more towards Link's Awakening for GBC Zeldas, but I always view it as the difference between Pokemon Gen 1 and Gen 2 - Gen 1 and LA are more famous, but Gen 2 and Oracles are more polished and there's just *so much* going on in those little cartridges. I replayed them late last year and it's still crazy to think about all the stuff to do, even before passwords.

    • @Zerbraxi
      @Zerbraxi  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Interesting comparison because I feel pretty much the same.

    • @zeroattentiongaming820
      @zeroattentiongaming820 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      And just like Gen 2, as cool as some of the ideas were, they weren't the most practical thing to work around as a kid. Luckily I had friends who were into both Pokemon and Zelda to experience it with.
      For me the pair are second only to Minish Cap, where I feel Capcom just made the most polished and charming handheld Zelda. The Oracle games though are the most ambitious games to release between OOT and BOTW imo. MC tops either individually for me but the linked game experience is unmatched.
      Even just that secret GBA shop, added nothing of substance but to have a GBC cart with a feature only accessible on the next generation handheld just feels like Capcom flexing how crazy they were allowed to get with this project.

      It's definitely a tough choice. I appreciate the kind words and I'm glad someone else was also touched by these games. Many people are afraid to be vulnerable online, and myself as well for sure, but it's a part of life and it's something that I can hopefully add that's unique to the "video game youtube scene" as well as hoping that it helps someone know they aren't alone in all of this.

    Oracle of Ages is still one of my favorites. Loved playing it on GBC way back when I was a child. The people who worked on these later on became big part of BotW too. Been starting to follow you lately, great content. I can relate a lot with the first minute or so of this video, I think that's how all people who consider themselves "hardcore gamers" become so for similar reasons. That was rather personal and I found it very empathetic and self aware from yourself to address it that way. Keep up the good job. Tunic is absolutely fantastic and I hope more people play it.

    • @WyvernDotRed
      @WyvernDotRed ปีที่แล้ว

      This video has actually convinced me to give this game a good try, judging by it this proofs that as long as a platform can carry the experience, games can be timeless works of art.
      Greatly enjoyed BotW on my first playthrough,, but didn't enjoy it at all when I tried it later, though the adventuring appeal is obvious.
      Loved learning more about Zerbraxi through this video, it's uncommon but helps to give context to what is otherwise a blank source of entertainment.
      Tunic's on my long list of games to eventually try, it's not quite my genre but this might change, I am aware of it's greatness.

    • @Zerbraxi
      @Zerbraxi  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WyvernDotRed I've always wanted to not only entertain people, but also help them through life's crazy hardships. Especially when it comes to childhood trauma since so much of that is often experienced while you have such little agency over your life. It can be immensely difficult to overcome. I mean there is still SOO much for me to heal from still, but I hope that if at least one person is inspired or encouraged to overcome their own pain, if I can help 1 person do that, then it was all worth it :)
      Funny how our experiences with Breath of the Wild are flipped. Kinda funny to me. If you do end up playing through the Oracle games, or Tunic, I'd love to hear thoughts in discord as you experience them.

      That count is just a number that doesn't mean much, just what the heartless algorithm "thought" of the video's metrics.
      It's the quality of the interactions that make these things special, which looking at the comments here and chats in the Discord, is among the best.
      And as you said, there still is an audience spending their free time to watch these videos, on relatively smaller scales TH-cam is a platform for such niche content.
      The authenticity and unique humour is what kept me around here, while I have left many superficially similar channels to the will of the algorithm.

    • @Zerbraxi
      @Zerbraxi  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WyvernDotRed It's so funny just how much numbers can resonate with our minds despite logically understanding how weightless they are. It's why I pointed it out in the video here because it was a way for me to "immortalize" those thoughts directed at myself. You've been absolute blast to engage with here, on discord, and recently in stream. I do love getting people's perspectives and it's fun when you and I see things from totally different angles. It makes everything so much more interesting.
