- Comfortably Numb Can teach you to solo! Let's go over 5 licks from David Gilmour's outro solo from Comfortably numb, as well as a vital exercise over the chord progression, which will help you learn to solo on guitar! Improvisation is a difficult skill to master, so it is invaluable to have a strategy. In this video I cover a specific strategy to achieve your goals of sounding great on lead guitar. We go over the pentatonic scale, the blues scale, the extended pentatonic scale, as well as 5 licks from the comfortably numb guitar solo for you to tweak and incorporate into your own solos.

I am at 4:32 in this video and already feel enlightened. Thank you very much for explaining this. Huge fan of this solo in particular. Awesome, just awesome!
Thanks!

That's hilarious I was feeling enlightened and happen to see this comment and thought wonder where my "time of enlightenment" is happening lol 4:35! Great stuff!!!
I’ve been watching your vids on Facebook for awhile, but after seeing this one I’ve subscribed. You have a great ability to not overwhelm an always learning guitarist.
Thanks !
That’s crazy comfortably numb was literally just on the radio
That’s not surprising seeing as the song is played constantly
Woah
To all the budding guitarists out there, if the only thing you take out of this, is the pattern that starts below the pentatonic box on the low E and A string, and finishes on the little box above it on the high E and B string, you'll have a really nice run to play. It's extremely useful. ✌️🇦🇺
Yeah that’s one of my most used scales.
I love your enthusiasm, you have an amazing energy that shines throughout your lesson. Nothing worse than being taught by someone with no drive, drive is contagious. Really enjoying the way you teach.
Thanks man!
Yeah no doubt , it would be great if more people possessed this trait out in the world
More videos like this sir!
Thanks! I’m trying. I just wish TH-cam would push them out more.
Your breakdown of this and the methodology to soloing is the best I've ever seen.
Thanks man!
@@anthonyparkernearlifeexp the part where you outline the 1/4 notes then 1/8 notes then triads, etc.... is very awakening. It's a rough outline of what elements comprise a solo.
The fact that you have a Dead Milkmen shirt on the wall is absolutely amazing. DM for life!
Right on!
I drive a bitchen Camaro with a Punk Rock Girl in the passenger seat! DM for life!!
Another thing Gilmour loved to do was drag a little bit when starting a lick, but ending it right on time
Thanks for the great lesson
You're Welcome thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for these lessons, love Gilmore he is the master when it comes to string bends no one does it better thanks again for the lessons unreal man !!!
After watching this I went out and brought a second hand guitar and ME pedal (as a 56 yo who hasn’t picked up a guitar in over 30 yrs). Trying to learn this will either make or break me
Thanks! Awesome lesson!
Thank you for your excellent instruction and enthusiasm is appreciated
Excellent lessons ❤. Thanks
Great lesson. Very practical.
great lesson. thanks for the vid.
Genius! This helped me tremendously! Thank you good sir!
Huge thumbs up. Best TH-cam lesson I've seen in a long time. Thanks.
Love your shorts... which brought me here, and subscribed, Thank You for your work !!!
Excellent lesson- exactly what I've been looking for...
Much continued success 😊😊
Punk Rock Girl loves the Dead Milkmen t-shirt.
Are you punk Rock Girl?
@@anthonyparkernearlifeexp nope she's the chick I picked up in my bitchin Camaro
F# minor pentatonic fret 2, F# phrygian mode, A mixolydian
So inspiring. Maybe I *can* do this!
For beginners like me who learnt the scale shapes and didn't know where to go from there, this is a great video pn how to actually make music! Subscribed!
Lick 2 has been so hard for me...can't get that rolling sound....so thank you this may help..

Great content 👌
Thanks! Welcome to the fun :)
It's like you gave me glasses; I can see for the first time lol
With arthritis in my hands it’s hard to play lead but I’m trying. Bending notes are a real challenge but I’m not giving up. Your lesson is clear and very helpful, thank you!
No arthritis here, but standard tuning (009 on electric..Strat) felt always uncomfortable, I switched halfstep down to Eb tuning, much easier to bend and to play in general. Will never go back. There`s a reason lot`s of (Blues) players did it.
Good lesson! Glad you got time off from Dunder Mifflin to do this
Yup
So much Chuck Berry!
It would really help me if licks had names that everyone understood like - for lick one slide up a step from E (G-9 to G 11) into the “whole lotta love lick” then bend up… then categorize it as a variant of the “whole lotta love” lick. Just saying. Great lesson
Great lesson. Should the picture of the extended Bm pentatonic scale start at the 5th fret, not the 3rd like in the diagram? at 2:46. Thanks
Yea it starts on the fifth not the third
esa progresión de acordes y la pentatonica nacieron juntas jajaa
Sub'd Thank you
Gilmore has to be the greatest guitarist in world history and I don’t think any band will ever touch Floyd.
I found my voice years ago. People have been begging me to shut the fuck up ever since.
And yet still you rock!
@@anthonyparkernearlifeexp Bless your heart, that's one of the nicest things someone has said to me. Your name reminds me of one of my favorite books and movies...Fight Club. Bless you.
Im trying man im trying this shit is hard dude
How is your pentatonic scale?
@@anthonyparkernearlifeexp not good but im trying man i will get it
My pen i have discoverd has had a little too much tonic but hey we all gotta cope
What is the reference of your stratocaster please?
If you mean the brand, it’s a player hhs model
@@anthonyparkernearlifeexp Thanks.
Nice video thank you , but am I the only one who thinks you look like Jordan Peterson?
This is great advice
