    The Anker C300X... This thing is honestly pretty awesome. It's hands down our favorite little unit and would be a perfect gift this holiday season, especially considering the price. It's quick to charge, super quiet and quite capable for a ton of smaller scale applications like camping, power on the go and light home back up!

    Standard USB C cables that support USB PD 1.0 are limited to 60W max, however, special cables with E-Marker chips are required for 100w. USB PD 3.1 added 140W - 240W profiles which require their own special cables. It is not just the thickness of the cable as implied in the video. The E-Marker chip is required for the higher wattages and communicates with the charger the capabilities of the cable.

    Got the DC version. Small inconvenience with the dual direction USBC port: unlike the Anker Prime, the software for this unit doesn’t permit forcing one direction charging on that 140 w port. So what happens, if you are charging the unit from an external battery or charging another battery, once the Anker runs down it reverses and takes back the charge it just sent. This basically means that you cannot “trust the device to charge unattended until they upgrade the firmware.

      @@johncontreras9225 You don’t need an specific expandable battery, any usb/solar battery bank will work. The Anker supports pass through charging so just plug into any free of the charging ports any good value bank. Ive been using the DC version (half the weight) throwing it into my rear bike trunk bag and running the usb-c cable to the e-bike battery charging while riding. I can double the KMs doing this, and the Anker not only recharges faster, but I can charge it while spending the night in a hotel even if they won’t let me bring the bike inside. The DC unit is perfect for e-bike camping as well. Next week I hope to have a chance to test a 200w portable solar panel as well.

      @TheSolarLab  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Watts and Watt Hours are far more important to understand in the bigger products such as a power station! mAh is not a way to properly adress larger systems, but its pretty easy to understand watts and how they convert
      Formula is (mAh)*(V)/1000 = (Wh). For example, if you have a 300mAh battery rated at 5V, the power is 300mAh * 5V / 1000 = 1.5Wh.

      you can't really ask "will this power a refrigerator" because refrigerators are vastly different in power draw and how often they draw at peak. Older ones are obviously more inefficient in most cases, but you can expect less than an hour at peak draw from most refrigerators from this particular bank. It is simply not designed for that use case. I'd recommend a real generator, or a power station designed for home power like the anker solix.

    Hi, I really enjoy your videos they offer a lot of good information and your honesty is quite refreshing. I do however have a question if you please. I am looking into getting some backup power for my house that I can keep charged up for use during a power failure or god forbit soething worse. I have two freezers and a fridge as well as the normal househole electronics, nothing crazy. Which products should I be looking at in terms of vendors for battery back up that I can drag out for use and what foldable solar panels would you recommend? I also have a 5000 watt dual fuel generator if that matters. With so many choices out there a little advice to narrow it down would be a great help. Thank you in advance.

      You may need the 5K generator to power two freezers. Get at least a Bluetti AC180 or equivalent to run a TV and power rechargeable electronics.

      What is the voltage and amperage used by your freezers. To give you an idea I have a 26 cu. ft fridge/freezer that draws 115V and 7.2 amps which equates to 828 watts. When the compressor runs it uses between 120 to 137 watts and when it defrosts around 389 watts. I have an ecoflow Delta max 2000 which I bought about over 3 years ago, the first generation. It has a 2048 hour battery capacity and a 2400W inverter. This unit ran my fridge for 15 hours before needing to be recharged. I decided to build my own power bank using a 48V battery and inverter from EG4 easy to connect and cost about 2400 bucks including shipping to build. Will Prowse has a great video on this as I built mine on a hand truck too. But the 3KW inverter uses a lot of energy when on idle. This unit with the 5000w+ battery ran my fridge for 37 hours. It used 2.4KW running the Fridge and 2.7KW were used by the inverter. The problem I have with this set up is that I do not have enough solar panels required to run the inverter for solar charging . It requires 120V minimum. If you have enough solar panels than I would go with the EG4 route as the inverter has an MPPT solar charger and a charger you can charge from your a/c outlet at 30 amps. Personally I'm quite disappointed in this setup and I'm going to try a 12V 460AH battery from Epoch or Power queen with a 2000W inverter which will be more efficient. The larger the inverter the less efficient it is when idle. But for the MONEY you can't go wrong with the Pecron 1500 or 3600 or the Oupes Mega 3 . Just make sure your solar panels when connected in series meet the minimum voltage requirement without exceeding the maximum. If the maximum voltage is exceeded than you must connect them in parallel. I know you did not ask for my help but I saw no one else responding. I'm no expert as I have been learning from my mistakes. I love EcoFlow products because they stand behind their products and their customer service may be slow in the end they take care of you. I know from experience because I had to send 3 units back and they paid for shipping and replaced my units. Whereas with pecron I had to pay for shipping and don't know about Oupes.

I am a beginner as well though I had an 8kw solar system put on my roof to offset a lot of the high costs of power in my state, not mentioning any names.......California. theres a guy on youtube that compares both of them. This has more capacity, the other one is cheaper better ups functionality. Even the the ecoflow has 2 ac ports you can only really use just one because it blocks the other. The light on this one is a plus. The ecoflow can charge faster. This has more and better DC options

  • @skttnm
    @skttnm หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    I would rather see sub 1 kWh power stations focused on high efficiency rather than have high power AC inverters.I wouldn't even mind it if they were very efficient DC only.
    The parasitic drain on AC inverters and inefficient DC inverters is such that in order to get their max efficiency, you need to be drawing high power continuously. If you leave a power station on without powering a device, some of these high power AC inverters will drain your power station battery in 24 hours, and you aren't even powering anything.
    A 256 watt hour station typically won't even run a 300W device for more than 45 minutes in the real world. Where a 256 watt hour power station thrives, is being a massive bank for cell phones, tablets and other low power devices. Most of these can be recharged or powered via USB-C.
    Get rid of the AC ports unless you specifically need to power a fan all the time for 3 hours or less. Make the DC inverter highly efficient, at least 95%, so parasitic draw is not an issue.
    I'd especially love to see this high efficiency DC inverter power bank for portable fridge/freezers that require always being plugged in, but often have extended moments of very low power draw. I would love to see more innovation this way than some puny 256 Wh power station pretending like it's made to power your gaming laptop for 10 hours.
    If you have high power needs, such as a microwave, induction stove, high draw power tools, you are going to need the high power AC inverters and way more capacity, like a minimum of 2K Wh, and then shutting off the power station when done. This is real world use outside of these YT lab tests. If you want to run a portable AC continuously, you will need much more capacity and a good size solar power solution.

      The 300W here isn't even that much though. A few phones and a couple laptops basically tops that out with how quickly modern devices charge these days. Going any lower vastly limits use options.
