Excellent explanation and concepts. Appreciate the Safety tips. I would add, dont be afraid to ask folks for help. Some dudes in other rigs are just chomping at the bit to use their recovery gear 😂

Great tip! Very true. I’ve actually “patrolled” the beach looking to use my gear many times. I recall just a while back there was a “4x4” sprinter stuck (by the way interesting 4x4 system how it need to engage. Required vehicle in motion to utilize, wasn’t an option then). Well basically there was another Sprinter about 50 yards away that had full recovery gear on it, (this was prior to Bad Betty having her recovery her), and the fello Spring are completely ignored trying to help this senior couple out.
So I went over there and help them start digging out and after about 20 minutes between the health of myself, and a couple of other folks that joined in, we got them out. But you’re absolutely correct don’t be afraid to ask and definitely don’t have too big of an ego to except help.

I love your videos! I own an Ekko and plan on starting my maiden voyage soon, taking about 30 days to travel from Michigan to Lake Tahoe. I plan to equip my Ekko with everything you mentioned in your video. Based on your videos, I plan to buy a CA Tuned recovery hitch when I get to California. Again, thanks for your Ekko videos!

Hello Robert, Wow! that is going to be a great trip. What part of Michigan do you live in? I recently found out who my biological father is and discovered that I have family in Michigan and Chicago. Lake Michigan still blows my mind as if its an ocean, we've seen many sunsets over the lake viewing from Muskegon side. Beautiful for sure. Thanks for the kind coments and keep us posted. When you get California, make sure you say hello to Max the owner of CAtuned for me..Best of wishes ahead, Jason and Michelle.

Chef, thank you! That’s a great idea and one that I’ve been considering doing.
I recently swapped a few items out since the video. The main 2 pieces were the air down kit and tire gauge.
One of my buddies takes his 27’ class C, 2WD pulling a trailer with all his Quads and gear, bombs all around Sand Lake here in Oregon and has an air down kit that’s pretty quick and awesome.
I’m going to convert to what he has and post a video on it.
I’m also looking at an ARB compressor, but I have to work through a couple of mounting ideas first. The compressor would obviously first serve tires, but in the summer would be great to air up water toys and water lounge chairs, quick and easy too.
Anyway, take care and I greatly appreciate you taking time to check our video out.

A bunch of Boy Scouts were hiking in NM and came across an old Dodge Power Wagon stuck in a dry wash.
He had a winch and had pulled the cable out and walked in an arc looking for something to tie onto. He had never heard of using a deadman :(
He also hadn't packed any food :(
While we fed him others buried a log and winches him out

Raymond, I can’t believe I haven’t responded yet. 🤨 my bad. That’s awesome the team was there to help. I’m sure learned a few things about preparedness from you all for sure. Pretty awesome for the boys to know that they had the team and skills to help out. I appreciate your following our channel. Wishing you the best ahead.
By the way. What part of New Mexico?

Great video, I have some similar gear that I used with my previous truck camper that I will migrate to my EKKO, but you have som additional things I hadn't consider will definitely consider that bumper with the winch!
Also would love to see a video on accessing the spare tire. I just got the Wildpeaks installed! But I was shocked to find out that Discount Tire techs were unable to figure out how to remove the spare tire. I thought they didn't look hard enough at first, but after I showed up to the shop, we looked all over and under the EKKO and never found the bolt mentioned in the 2023 Transit 350HD Spare tire process. Apparently the EKKO has it's own specific way to remove the spare, and I was unable to find any info from Winnebago manual or anything else online. I'm very surprised such crucial information isn't readily available.

WRONG ROPE.. wanted to get your attention, Yankum ropes. Take a look at Matt's off-road recovery on TH-cam. That is the rope he uses, and he rescues people who are stuck in mud, sand etc.
Your video was excellent, great ideas for getting unstuck. You have excellent gear, thanks for the video, it will help a lot of people.

How much does the winch system add to you total weight

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599  ปีที่แล้ว

Hello, sorry for the delayed response I didn’t realize I hadn’t got back to you.
The bumper itself is approximately 100 pounds and the winch is right around 60 to 70 pounds.
Approximately 170 pounds total weight. But there is some weight that get removed from the installation. Hope this helps.
