  • The Wesley High School, the Salamo Nursing School and the Salamo Health Center are service institutions that are built at the Salamo United Church Station and of course are run by the Papuan Island Region of the United Church, and I would think that there is support grants provided by the Milne Bay Provincial Government in the Provincial Government Partnership with the Churches, in the Milne Bay Province.
The above three (3) Service Institutions have been in operations in the Salamo United Church Outstation in the Esa'ala District, many many years ago and still exists today, though may have been struggling to stay afloat to provide the very important and necessary help to the community especially in the Esa'ala District.
The thumbs-up, acknowledgement, appreciation and the word of thankyou goes to the Partnership that had existed between the Churches and the Government, ever since and to date.
My apologies that I am not able to do a very thorough historical information to present here, but just wish to present just as it is for your viewing and noting and the fact that these services do still exist today, in 2024. I probably will do that in a later presentation of the same.
But for those who were there at one point in your life, either as student at both the Wesley High School and the Nursing School and as well if you have worked at the Salamo Health Center or as a patient and etc, just wish to recapture your memory.
I just hoped that you will all enjoy viewing the current status as presented in 2024. Please if you do enjoy, ensure to SUBSCRIBE and GIVE IT A THUMBS-UP as well.
    Thank you.

Thank you Mark for showing this video of Salamo of today. As you have said it correctly.Salamo Station has gone backwards in terms of development n progress. It use to be one of the beautiful, clean places of Milne Bay.Anyway there were 4 colonial buildings at Salamo ,all were of the same architecture, built by the white missionaries around 1950s n 1960s.And today only three 3 are still standing, 1 is the one you slept on, 2nd is just opposite of that Guest house n the 3rd one is where the CHW or the nursing school is . those nursing students were doing the clean up around. The other thing is that road from the nursing school leads up to the old closed Airstrip, the oval that use to host Eastern high school carnival at salamo then to the, one of the big river called Ulisaya ,then bush road or trek which leads to about 5 to 7 main villages of west Ferguson including Siulugu,Nade, and famous Morima etc.....By the way the Airstrip that close was a big loose the people of the whole Ferguson. It serves for emergency purposes, holiday markers and tourism at times direct Pom Salamo Pom by MAF. and Gurney Salamo Gurney on Thursdays by Talair then Mine Bay Air and now people are suffering especially during medical Emergency they have to get outboard dingys which takes 4 to 5 hours to get to Alotau.Anyway thanks once again n I hope the sitting Member for Esaala the Governor, who's some of his children attended Wesley High School. To see an start doing something about this

Thank you so much for all the detailed and historical information you have shared regarding Salamo Station. You knew better than me.
In fact I didn't do much research about Salamo Station (Wesley High School, Nursing School, Salamo Health Centre & some of the Colonial Historical Buildings).
I just presented as it is, just to see as it is, especially by those who were there & knows it from then.
But thanks so much for viewing & making those remarks for more information to my video presentation as it is now.

Yes, definitely, I have the Guest House & the fish frying together under the Guest House & got the walk from the Guest House to Salamo Wharf, coming up in the next videos.
Thank you very much. Do really love & appreciated your remarks, comments & additional background/historical information & etc.
You know, in doing what I am doing, brings challenges to me & as well as sadness to see & note how we & or rural people have to go through.
Truly, it makes me sad & wanna cry at times & true it makes me so annoyed too.
I hope that one day, we will make it for our rural population.

Thank you, taliu, You are great.By the way, you mentioned about Salamo wharf .The road on your left that leads to Begasi village then to Deidei, where the hot spring is, that's where it separates 1 goes to Budoya Catholic mission station n the other goes to Sebutuya where once a logging area but now no longer operating. The new logging which is under camp site construction started end of last year n this year is at Siulugu village on the western side of Ferguson about 1n a half walk from Salamo station after the old airstrip n cross that ulisaya river,by dingy about 20 minutes.

By the way I watched one of your video, going up river mainland Milne Bay, and I recognize someone with his green can, Uncle Sam . It's been along time since we're neighbors at Toks sharing green cans on our street.

I’m very sad to see how Wesley High School is not getting much help from the Government for financial assistance.
I’m blessed to be a former student of Wesley High School, and all the great memories I had of my time as a student.

Yes such service organisations have not been sufficiently & consistently been supported by the Govt & not only for Wesley H/School but all in the Province & as well as through out the country & not only in Education but all others.
It's a sad scenario for PNG as a country.
