She rhetorically asked the class: "How do I act so well?" and answered her own question by saying "what I do is pretend I'm the person I'm portraying in the show or play." While we were all confused, she explained that when George RR Martin came to her in England and asked to to play Queen Cersei of House Lannister, she responded "you are aware that I am not really a Queen of a fictitious Noble House?" That cleared things up. If Lena were to draw a graph of her process, of her method, it would be something like this: Lena, Lena, Lena, action, Queen Regent "Power is power", cut. Lena, Lena, Lena.
I actually thought RW was British until I saw House of Cards - she sounds fairly English in Princess Bride and that was my only frame of reference prior to HOC.
He is very honest. He's being a man who admits when he is sexually attracted but he is partly laughing at himself. He also loves to have fun and be stupid while being intelligent and well -informed. He treats lovely women as people who are sexually attractive but also as people with other qualities.
Funny thing is, because he's up front about it and doesn't try to pretend to be anyone else, I imagine a lot of women on his show felt more comfortable around him because of it. Otherwise he would have been absolutely DESTROYED in the tidal wave of accusations that have finally toppled the halls of network TV power over the last few years.
