Elvis died approximately 7 weeks after this was recorded. The special was televised after his death. We had no idea he was in such bad health. No internet. How would we know. Our hearts were ripped out the day Elvis died.

Elvis was in extreme pain. He had full blown bone cancer. In my opinion, this was the best concert tour he had. God was with him. This was absolutely the pinnacle of vocal ability. So many phenomenal vocal performances - Hurt, How Great Thou Art, and more. I truly believe God gave that grace because he would be leaving soon after that. God let Elvis give best until the end.

The rumour of Elvis suffering bone cancer has been dispelled over and over again. A few people in the inner circle were told this fake story in an attempt to identify a leak within the group.

Near death here just 7 WEEKS left before he met his maker. He could barely stand, walk, talk - he is in immense full body pain and heavily medicated- yet he insisted to not disappoint his fans and refused to cancel a show.
What happened here is that we got to see Elvis singing to his maker right up on stage.
To be that I’ll, and to sing that supremely- that’s a God-given gift that he took with him when he left this earth because no one has been able to reach his height and his talent to this day.
… even with all the technology that we have.

pls stop being so overly dramatic here
its true elvis' health was extremely poor here but he could walk & stand just fine
he was moving & shaking throughout both of these shows in omaha & rapid city
he was in good spirits looking forward to/ very excited about and preparing for the next tour of 77 in the days leading to his death
he was playing racket ball the morning of his death ffs
i do not understand why so many people insist on being so over the top about this
is it because of the false information the recent movie put out there??
elvis was in bad shape during this performance there is no denying that but he wasn't crippled or in extreme pain
if you listen to his last concert of 77 or watch any of the footage from it he is clearly having a blast and getting around just fine

      @depper 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@belinda35_77 there is not a single sentence I typed that is incorrect. Elvis’ organs were diseased and heart and colon enlarged. There was years of fecal matter found in Elvis colon. He was clearly having a great deal of trouble walking and talking. There are multiple sources that discuss the pain Elvis was in during these performances. Elvis was having difficulty breathing and his balance was very very poor.
Yes he was dancing but it was very limited.
Still he put in one of the greatest performances of his life but his situation was undeniably dire here.
As for the 2022 Elvis movie I don't think it went far enough to explain the corruption of Dr Nick and Parker but it was absolutely accurate in pointing fingers to the two culprits.
That Elvis movie was the greatest film ever done about Presley. No film helped carry his legacy better. There are millions of new Elvis fans from this generation because of it.

@@belinda35_77 Elvis Presley himself is on record saying he was in pain on this tour Belinda.
The fifth tour of the year, comprised of 10 cities, 10 shows in 10 days, began on June 17 and ended on June 26.
At his last concert, which took place in Indiana, Presley was quoted as saying, "My body really hurts, but no matter what I’m going out there tonight and giving everything I have… no matter what."
Westmoreland said she was horrified to hear that even in his condition, Presley was already gearing up for another tour.
He allegedly told her, "I can’t baby, I can’t stop right now. The Colonel owes a lot of money in gambling debts and some of the guys will be in bad financial shape if I don’t keep working. They have families to look after."

Although some comments on here have said 6 weeks - it was actually 8 weeks exactly (56 days from June 21st 1977 - August 16th 1977) before when Elvis sadly died that this was filmed and recorded. He performed 5 more nights of concerts after this one and the very LAST concert on June 26th 1977 was the longest and known as the VERY BEST of the concerts he performed on that 'final' tour.

I’ve never watched one of your reactions. The only reason I stopped was because I saw you were reacting to Elvis and honestly for no other reason. I just wanted to let you know the reason that you said he was off the reason you said he was sweating, was because this was his last live performance. He died three months later, so it’s really quite astounding. The performance that he gave with such tremendous desperation, such love for his fans and God damn, he tried his hardest to do his Best. I’ve loved him for 60 years saw him in concert many times as a teenager. He’s always been the hero of my life. When I look back at my youth, I think the fondest memories I’ll ever have is of him I’ve gone to Graceland are taking my children to Graceland, and I’ve taken my grandchildren to Graceland. The definition of a hero in the Webster dictionary is a person who changes the lives of someone for the better, and he certainly changed mine thank you. I hope to see more Elvis reactions in the future, God bless you.

Little correction: This was not his very last live performance. This performance was his last FILMED show from June, 21st 1977 in Rapid City. Elvis very last show was on June, 26th 1977 in Indianapolis. And Elvis died 6 weeks later on August, 16th 1977, not three month later.

That one moment of crescendo was sheer excellence. Like I said earlier to another commentor, older Elvis during his illness period got a departing gift from God, a stronger more powerful vocals than even when he was healthier. I"ve compared many of his early 1960s & 70s songs against him doing it in late 1970s when he was sick, and older Elvis wins out almost every time.
Newcomers to Elvis, I recommend the following:
Elvis That's the Way it is 1970 documentary concert
Elvis on Tour 1972 documentary concert
    Elvis 1968 comeback tv special
Elvis Aloha from Hawaii 1973 satellite concert

You should react to young Elvis. I will suggest Hound dog , but be sure to watch the uncut version from the Milton Bearle show. It was that performance that really got him in hot water. He was banned from many radio shows, parents wouldent let their kids watch him etc. That all changed when he went into the army, under regular circumstances no special treatments, well knowing it might have killed his career.

This was near the end of the concert, so he was winded. Also due to being filmed he was very nervous in addition to his constant issues with stage fright. He didn't want to do the filming due to his poor health and bloating, which made him even more nervous and self conscious. A couple of other songs from this same concert you should see are: "My Way", "Hurt " and "How Great Thou Art ".

f you want to enter the Elvis rabbithole i give you one advice: choose always the live versions( in best case whith original stage video footage, but this is not available for all songs) and not the studio versions in 90 % of all songs the live versions are lots better and much more energetic! I saw that you reacted to "suspicious minds". That is a good example. The 1970 live versions are uncomparable to the studio version, it's a total different thing, much more tempo and energy! Perhaps you should try the live version to compare it yourself. There are tons of awesome Elvis tracks, as long as you choose a live version you can choose every available song, you'll never be disappointed of his outstandig vocals. It's only a question of the genre, tempo an theme of the song, which you prefer. If ypu want to see more of his vocal power i would suggest you the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert with the songs "What now my love", "You gave me a muountain" ore "American Trilogy", or the 1972 version of the gospel "how great thou art" - you'll be blown away. If you want him move i would suggest "suspicious minds" or "polk salad annie" both live 1970 in Las Vegas. Other great songs fom the vegas concerts are "you've lost that loving feeling" or "Just pretend". If you want to check out his - how should i call it? - "special" connection to his audience, especially the females, you should try "Love me tender" from the 1970 Las Vegas concerts or "Steamroller Blues" or "Fever" from the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert. There is also more serious, meaningful stuff like "in the Ghetto", "walk a mile in my shoes" (both Vegas 1970) and "if i can dream" from the 68 comeback special, which contains a lot of other great performances like "trying to get to you" or "heartbreak hotel". There are lots of more great songs, i can't mention them all it's only a small collection, with that you could start your journey. If you need links, tell me which song and i will post it. Have a good time with Elvis!

The breathing you hear at the beginning is two things ...... Elvis just got done doing the three songs in a row singing real hard ..... Holding long aggressive notes and dancing to those fast songs he just did ..... And as he said himself ...... {These lights are hot I'm telling you } ...... And the mic is turned up pretty high ...... If you really was to know something about whats what ...... Read my long posting .......

@@Lar-Reacts No, and he should have been in a hospital bed, as if I were his manager, I would have never let him be out there like that. And yet, Elvis could still find a way to be magical and belt in that way, that it seems you didn't know he could.
The reason why I encourage you to listen to as much Elvis, as possible, as he's amazing. As he could sing the sweetest love song in falsetto and then hit operatic and full throttle open C's that an opera star would envy. It's a wonderful ride and I wish you all the success in the world! ~ Christopher Tyler

I appreciate what you’re saying, but I was just generalizing. I didn’t know that we were going by verbatim I would’ve looked it up in Google the correct dates so that you did not have to correct me but being an Elvis fan I’ll let it slide. Elvis died shortly after this performance. Few know that Elvis was a product of his heredity. in the book "Elvis Presley Destined to Die Young" Sally Hoedel tells the real story of Elvis family illnesses. Elvis mothers parents were first cousins. this produced an Alpha 1 gene which was a double gene which meant Elvis got all the health problems and life span of his mother's side of his family tree. Gladys was an Alpha 1 as were her two brothers. All died in their mid 40's she died at 46. Elvis died at 42. He was born a twin and his brother was stillborn. He had a twisted colon that was never treated, they were so poor. All died of heart disease and Liver failure. No one knew much about Alpha 1 then, now I think it is treatable. In 1971 Elvis had emergency surgery to save his eye from early onset Glaucoma. The glasses were necessary . His hair dresser said that Elvis suffered two light heart attacks in his presence in 1975, but hid it from the public. He went on with his grueling schedule and began to take more pain killers for his painful joins. He told backup singer Kathy Westmoreland he would die in his early 40's.. His bloated appearance in this video, is due to his liver not filtering properly, also what causes his pale appearance. Hoedel says if Elvis had never taken a single drug he would have still died in his 40's. He told singer Wayne Newton it was the end for him. As you can tell, his talent never left him. RIP Beautiful man.

None that I'm aware. I will direct viewers to his last album 1977 Moody Blue. There's an excellent version of this song on there (still the same year, but the remix and audio is very sharp, more instruments etc. highly recommend). Regarding the older heavier Elvis, his voice got better for operatic ballads just before he died, so it's a trade off seeing younger elvis vs older with more power.
