This guy was on his knees health wise at this stage of his life and unrecognisable from the guy a few years before, yet could still sing the emotional guts out of a song with his talent and presence.
The one thing he had to the end was his incredible voice. What a performance considering his health was so bad at this point.
The end of the movie was actually Elvis singing. It was great!!!
I remember watching the night it aired. The country sighed in unison. We watched with absolute worry and concern. Never pity or sadness, but true concern. We truly loved him.

You should know Elvis had so many health issues and he thought everyone depended on him for their financial needs. He took meds not to get high,but to try to function . He inherited so many ailments and was in tremendous pain. Even his doctor did not know the extent of his health issues until his autopsy. Read Destined to Die young to see all of his provlems. Also Elvis was the most generous person . He gave away almost everything he made,to friends,family and even strangers Even as a child he kept giving his tricycle to friends who did not have their own. Hes, the man had faults,but let us never forget the beautiful person he truly was.

Hello. Actually, they used the real footage of Elvis you saw here in the movie. It started with a, very well done, recreation by Austin Butler before transitioning to the real Elvis at the end. They didn’t transpose Elvis’ face onto Austin. No big deal, just an FYI. A lovely day to all.

This was not the last song of the concert, or his last concert. This song was performed mid-concert on June 21, 1977. His last concert was 5 days later on June 26th, the last song being "Can't Help Falling in Love" as was his usual closer :)

Now this is Rapid city 77 . 2 concerts were filmed omaha and Rapid city. His last concert was a few days later. Now from the same concert you have to listen to the song Hurt its 🔥.
Elvis had glaucoma, a twisted colon , high blood pressure , ect . He was ill .

Elvis understood his health was failing and wanted to take a year or more off. So sad is he felt a strong responsibility to people that worked for him so he endured the pain.

His last song of the consert was cant help falling in love. This is not actually last consert, he had one more like couple days after this too but it was not televised.

This was elvis 2nd last concert 21st June 1977 but last concert that was recorded
"Unchained Melody" is not a Righteous Brothers song, they did a cover. Todd Duncan was the first to sing it in 1954. In 1955 there were several that record the song: Les Baxter with his choral version, Al Hibbler, Jimmy Young, Liberace, Roy Hamilton, June Valli and Harry Belafonte. In 1964 Jimmy Young re-recorded the song, then in 1965 The Righteous Brothers recorded the song.
His voice was really all he had left at that point.

Unchained Melody was a big hit in the mid 1950's. Elvis was a young man of 20 when he heard Roy Hamilton's version. Go on TH-cam and listen to Roy's version, also listen to Roy's version of You'll never walk alone. Elvis sang the songs very similar to Roy's. Elvis and Roy Hamilton were friends, Roy was an African American with an amazing voice. Check him out if at all possible!

In the movie, yes this song was used as the closing song/performances for the movie. In that scene for the movie this particular song/performances was actually performed by Austin Butler for the first part of it then it switched to the actual real performance by Elvis. It's so hard to tell within the movie singing performance it switches from Austin Butler to Elvis Presley. Only way to tell is by the visual from Austin's make up as Elvis to the real Elvis. The voice performance switch is so identical that it's darn near impossible to tell the voice switch from Austin to Elvis. An FYI for all the younger Elvis songs in the movie, Austin Butler is actually singing all those songs in his Elvis voice. It's unbelievable!

his body failed but his voice only got stronger. this wasnt his last concert Elvis last concert was held at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, IN on June 26, 1977, for a crowd of 18,000 a few days later and died 6 weeks after on August 16th,1977 the day he was to leave for another tour

If all you know is what the movie depicted. then just know that the movie was 90% fictional and the other 10% was misrepresented versions of events in his life. Elvis loved his life, enjoyed his life and was not controlled as the fictional movie depicts. Also, Elvis LOVED being Elvis. I would like to see you review a couple other Elvis performances. I will suggest 68 comeback special song "If I can Dream" (white suit performance) another would be the song "Trying to get to you" ALSO from the 68 comeback special. one more would be Elvis's 1970 live version of "Bridge Over Troubled water." He was very sick here. Bone cancer, heart disease, severe glaucoma, and he was in extreme pain from his Gastro issues. he also had asthma because he was an active phase of heart failure. He could barely breathe. I can’t even understand how on earth he was able to do the show. We love you Elvis ❤️
actually, his lung condition was a genetic condition that began when he was much younger -- it's called A-1 antitrypsin & causes COPD/emphysema along w- possible liver problems

@@Myboymyboy1212 i hope the book is "real" -- that it tells as much truth as possible; there was so much to this man & so much written that is incorrect, it's hard to know what's true & what isn't; i just saw an interview on a book a man wrote a few yrs ago (he said it took 30 yrs. to compile) "Letters from Elvis" that make some horrible & outlandish claims that briefly mentions Tom Jones, Brando & Sidney Portier & a woman spiritual adviser-- the guy should be sued
@@carolhayar3037 he did have a spiritual adviser and a relationship with Tom Johns but then again I have no idea what book that is . I’ll have to look it up :). The author of destined to die young did a great job so much research , including family history and genetics. It’s actually super interesting. It really makes you see everything in a different light.
Very good tho Bobby Hatfields version of the Righteous Brothers is magnificent. He hit it out of the park. Worth checking out and other great songs by them. Best success on yr channel

this was the last **recorded** performance from his CBS special and the whole concert was televised
and he closed this show the same way he closed all his shows with "can't help falling in love with you" so that is the last song there is footage of, not unchained melody
the last concert of his life would take place five days after this in Indianapolis on June 26th 1977
eight weeks before he died and the very last song he performed on stage was "can't help falling in love with you" :)
He had sung 2-3 uptempo songs just before this part of the concert. He was using the moment to catch his breath but, due to his constant stage fright right up to the end, speaking impromptu sometimes came across as a bit awkward, although usually quite humorous.

Nothing personal, but you're obviously new to Elvis. Cause of death is still unknown to this day, although the continuously worsening *congenital* health ailments can be explained. He was NOT a drug addict. Stop listening to the bullshit you hear from those with an agenda $$$. This was also not his last concert. This was part of his last tour and CBS negotiated to film 2 shows and follow him around the rest of the time. His last concert was 5 days later. Keep following him, you won't regret it.

Now acually he was still enjoying life at this time but he had lots of illness mostly from inherited DNA illness. Elvis enjoyed life trust me the movie is great but it's acually Austin butler doing this science then it cuts to elvis .

It was NOT drugs. The first comment saying 'he's a mess' was an awful thing to say. You stated you knew it was his last concert and he died 8 weeks later. He was in agony. The pain in his eyes with glaucoma, his spastic bowel, an HEREDITORY heart condition. But THAT MAN went on stage and he delivered. You should watch the full concert before judging. How condescending. Shame on you.
What is awkward is watching you too…saying “he’s bombed”…not being mean but felt a lack of compassion for him.

At this point, he was taking a combination of uppers and downers, 30 at a time, THREE times a day!! They were given to him in envelopes labeled Attack 1,2, and 3. Not to glorify it, but it's what was really going on. The best explanation to his death is that he suffered a heart attack because he was so constipated, and the stress on his heart from trying to defecate is what caused him to die. He tried to crawl from his toilet to the phone for help but collapsed and died .His colon was compacted with almost 6 inches of feces. His body gave out from the drug use, plain and simple. He had many other medical issues, some genetic, some not, that also attributed to his death.
