Just discovered your site and I'm loving it, being a Wharram fan from wayback. One suggestion I have for those ratchet straps is to wrap them another turn. This will double their strength.

I like those stainless straps... I need to look into those. The placards looks really cool, and the fact it has angles and not square might not effect water flow enough to concern. Love the deck space of these tiki cats. Im about to launch a 16 foot plywood style hull catamaran that I rebuilt. Used sail market is strong... I just bought two for half the cost of new. Good stuff all around.

Thanks for checking it out and leaving a comment. Good luck with your project! Ordered the straps on amazon and they seem to be pretty good quality.

The larger the bend radius the better when it comes to all rigging. Even though Dyneema is mega strong, it still suffers when pinched around small radii - only half the fibres are loaded.

If you need to add light but very effective insulation or decking take a look at using cork .. its really effective and protective under foot or as a way of reducing impacts.. totally green as a resource as well.

You can even get HDuty versions of it that are used as machinery vibration isolation mountings as well as office flooring .. sea deck . It water proof rot resistant anti mould and bacterial and fire retarding. None toxic..you can seal it and paint it with bathroom emulsion..if you don't want the natural colours or stains.
      Lovely Wharram you've built.😎👍🏼

@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 thanks for the info. Cork definitely sounds like a nice option for something. I’ll look into it. Yes I follow Mark as well and tune in every week. Thanks for your comment!

Just read a review on a new monohull kitted with sea cork deck .. the writer described it as grippier than teak..

Thanks for posting the video. A very nice example of a tiki 21. I too am experimenting with the ratchet straps on my tiki 26. There's some good info about using them on the Wharram builders and friends website. I'm in an extended refit. I'm very keen to learn more about the trampoline you made. Did you have a guide to follow? Please share if you did. I have four small ones to make. I hope my exterior finish comes out as good as yours. Cheers

Hey thanks so much for the comment! I’ve read success stories of the ratchet straps and I know the mana kit comes with ratchet strap no think they’ll be fine, especially for day sailing etc. the dimensions for the trampoline are in the plans so I just went off that. The fabric is very substantial but not necessarily made for trampolines so we’ll see how it holds up. I used epifanes monourethane in some custom mixed colors. Came out pretty good. There are some brush strokes in it and I later realized you don’t really need to tip this paint with a brush. Very happy with it though. Best of luck in your refit!

Thanks. What about the material you sewed around the edges of the trampoline. It looks like it might be 100mm (4") folded in half?

@@TassieTiki can’t remember exactly but I think I got it from sailrite. It’s a vinyl heavy duty webbing. I think I folded in half and glued with a special vinyl glue to tack in place before sewing it.

Looking good! How does the trampoline attach to the decks? It looks like there is a piece of wood with holes along it? I giess that is glued/screwed to the deck?

@@svprimitiva the same set of ratchet straps have been in service for years and never had a problem. I might have to tighten them one click mid season but I think they are far preferred over lashings IMHO (not aesthetically, but in all other regards). I carry extras just in case but have never needed one. I did notice the trailer similarities so happy to see that…. May I say the fit and finish/build quality on your Tiki is most excellent, indeed!
