This game was tested, recorded on Windows 10 Pro 64Bit on Gtx 780ti GPU. I've created this tutorial so that most of you will have a higher chances getting Commandos 3 game to work on your PC.
I've recompiled the codes and created the batch file so that you guys can run the game with ease. This fixes Flickering and the legendary sniper color issue as well as the "unable to find steam" error.
Note: To run the game from steam library, u must have DXWND app running. Or else you can just run the game from the batch file I've included.

Steps
1) Install Commandos 3 via Steam
2) install WinRAR
3) Download Fix
4) Extract Files to Commandos 3 Directory and replace
5) Edit Commandos3.bat with notepad and change the last line to your Native Desktop Resolution
6) Play!

I'm gonna need to fix Commandos soon but I was wondering if you know how to fix Desperados? Very similar game, not sure if it is a completely different engine since it seems similar.
Steam has already fixed this in February. Can you tell me a way to make it widescreen with the new updated build??
Doesn't work for me... I did exactly as you showed on the video. But when I opened dxwnd to delete and then import I noticed that the dot on the left wasn't green. Why is that?
I'm running a 32-bit operating system, is that why the screen is still flickering and the game stops working when you select the sniper? i followed everything else exactly like in the video

i did evrything, when i open the batch file it says :The system cannot find Commandos3.exe, and dxwnd.exe, i changed the path on both files already but i still cant find it

Not working for me. When playnig the niper the game crashes when trying to use the sniper rifle...
IDK how you did it but this does not work well it does and does not work on Windows 7 64bit makes it fullscreen and you can see it but it is windowed mode 800*600 with black boarders?

God dammit. It doesn't want to work. Same thing. I found that in the DXWnd my commandos 3 icon is not green ----it's like empty\white. I've tried your method with deleting it and load it again with no help. Also when I double click on commandos3 batch it says like Error : the graphics mode is not supported!

open Commandos3.dwx file with a text editor and update the path to the commandos installed folder like this and save it.
path0=E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Commandos 3 Destination Berlin\Commandos3.exe
Also open Commandos3.bat file with a text editor and make sure the paths are correct.
It should fix the error that you are mentioning but don't know if the game will work or not. Hope it does though :)

Hey buddy any fix for Commandos 2 not launching on Windows 10? I have the latest update but the game wont start.
right click on comm 2 icon in SteamLibrary , go to compatibility and check run mode on windows XP sp3 , it will work

for the non-steam versions at the bat file change the file directories to your own directories and it solves the problem of *not opening* I couldnt solve the flickering issue

BTW you can download D3Dwindower to open the game without the flickering and to make it full screen download the Borderless Gaming. Open borderless gaming add the game to it's list open the windower and add commandos 3 to it's list too. and open it from the windower. It will be full screen and without flicking. (Still Get to The Engine is broken and the sniper scope is broken)

For me - it launch, but still blinks.
wont share fix and will not respond to access the files on drive. Big thumbs down
Patch does not work.
The real fix is installing direct play on any Windows 64....
1. Right click Start
2. Click Programs and Features
3. Click Turn Windows features on or off
4. Make sure there is a check in Legacy Components
5. Click the + to expand
6. Check the box for DirectPlay
12.5 MB/S download rate, huh? Pretty far imagination for me to achieve these times...

LOL. simplest way to fix this issue. Click game short cut> Get properties > Compatibility > check : Run in 640X480 screen resolution .

I solved the error of not starting Commandos 2 on windows 10 just by renaming the executable directly in the roots folder. comm2.exe => commandos2.exe
