One thing I learned the hard way, if color correcting/grading using an iPad, make SURE you go to Display & Brightness in Settings and turn OFF True Tone and Night Shift. If they were ON you will go berserk wondering why the color looks so different on your desktop and other devices after you've exported your video. Great video Tammy, thanks!
Hey girl - I hope you are staying safe and keeping yourself and your furry kids safe. Thank you for all our videos. You have given me new inspiration in my musical art form - trying to move into video. You are an excellent teacher. My wife and I wish you and your kids protection from this crazy virus. Love your channel. Please stay safe. Wash your hands and stay with us. As video creators, we NEED you.
Hi Tim. Thank you and I hope you guys are well too. Very strange times here in NJ. We’ve been officially quarantined but I’ve converted to making some hand sanitizer for the locals so my company is still up and running. While everyone else is at home bored I’m crazy busy but grateful for the chance to help out my community.
I thought you were somewhere up there in the NE. If you need anything - please reach out to us who follow you. We can always Amazon something to you. We are a community - and you, dear, are a jewel in our midst. Seriously - if you need anything, please let us know. We’re here for you!

I own a skin care company and fortunately I had the main ingredients, aloe and alcohol to make a small batch. Just had to bottle and label it. I feel bad for these people who are taking the chloroquine and are getting sick and a few have died, some people Tim are just not that bright and it’s so sad. I wanna ask you a question Sis! I wanna buy one ipad for making video for my youtube channel with the channel's purpose are covering music, cooking, traveling, not very professional ^^. So what you think which ipad can make this in the lowest price, thank you sister!
Hi Tammy, new sub here. Would be good of you to make a video on color correction/grading/WB correction on Scuda Diving footage...Especially on the Go Pro series of cameras. A lot of folks in that segment, who are working with their iPads, and looking for a quick way to color correct.
I have always had difficulty getting the colour on my go pro right it’s a work in progress even in flat profile .... I tend to play with the Kelvin on my camera to get the colour right, everything in film making is tough.... this was an interesting video Tammy.
This was a HUGE help! Thanks for making it easy for us. I’m just getting started but between you and RobHK I’m far more along that I would have been alone.
- Good video thanks. Could you think about doing a part two where you take a screen shot from LumaFusion and using it in Affinity Photo to do color correction on an adjustment layer than porting it out of Affinity Photo as a LUT and moving that LUT into LumaFusion and applying it to your footage? I just think it would be a nice expansion to the topic.
It's been great to see this in action, thanks Tammy 😁. I record with 3 GoPro H7s and one has a green tint, another magenta. I used to edit in premiere pro but for the last 2 years edit in Kinemaster on an Android phone, making videos on the road - aside from some overdone "LUT" presets there is no colour correction at all. It's time to switch. I have been waiting for the new iPad pro so that I can get a deal on the outgoing 2018 model. I already bought Lumafusion and tested it on a friend's iPhone X. Thanks again
Thanks for watching. You’re gonna love LF. I was thinking the same thing about a new iPad but there’s really not that big of a difference between mine and that generation so I might spring the extra few hundred bucks and get a new one. Maybe.
This is very helpful. I was trying hard to apply color grading without using LUT, I thought I can get away with it (subjectively). However, it’s true, lumafusion has its limitations, we can apply color correction really close to the actual scene. But when comes to grading, it’s really hard to grade especially if you want the cinematic look, it could be done, I guess, without using LUT. But then, that’s where the LUTs are helpful to achieve cinematic look (subjectively). LUT could be considered as compensation for some limitations of lumafusion. Just my few cents.
Thanks for your input. It also depends on how you film in-camera that makes a huge difference if you don't want to use a LUT. It's helpful that they do supply some free LUT choices directly in the interface.
Tammy Sypniewski I didn't know either until I got on a roll talking in one clip then tried editing the footage and had major audio drift 🤦🏻♀️. It took me days to get this right lol so I'm trying to save anyone else the heartache .
Finally! This is the video I have been waiting for ... step by step process in LUMAFUSION with color correction & grading . Your explanation was clear and concise. Like always though ! Thanks, Tammy !
Tammy Sypniewski YES. I did ! Thank You ! I mean It though ...the way your LUMA tutorials are explained is one of a kind . And that audio sequence of videos ...dynamic processor hard edge saved my life . Opened new doors ! Lol
I love your videos! I was wondering if there was a way in lumafusion to make your own smooth spin transition and also possibly mirror your clip so it doesn’t show black when it spins? I learn so much from your tutorials :)
Tammy Sypniewski I’m not sure to be honest. Are there different ways to do it? I would like to see a smooth spin that I can use as a transition if that makes sense haha
Hi Tammy, For me your overhead camera has too much contrast and its hard to find realworld changes on screen. Also I think LUTs are complete setups for different scenarios and could and should be used for specific camera and specyfic scene standalone. So lately I found good app in store to create custom LUTs, maybe you can create some tutorial about it? I think this app is the easiest and almost complete way to create custom LUT for any camera and scenario you want it called: Video LUT Editor. I used to be a photographer so maybe have a specific aproach to this subject but still I didnt found better and simplier app for do so in put ecosystem. You are not old Love, I am:)
Marek Laszczych Hi Marek. I use Affinity Photo to create my LUTs and that was going to be my next video. Unfortunately the overhead camera is as good as it can be, I have an older iPad too so that will cut down on the res. I knew it wasn’t translating well so that’s why I would switch over to the raw video of it so that it was clearer and sharper. What app are you using? How is everything in Poland? Are you sheltered in place? Hope that you and your family are well. Take care my friend. 😉
Hi Tammy thanks for the vid, Some good information; but if i could add to that. I noticed you used a gate on the vocals, thats fine but when the gate closes when you don't talk it is very noticeable, to hide this, a quiet sound track in the background would work. Worth a try. As to the colour grade and LUTs, i think the key is, it depends... I would suggest that people just take some footage indoors outdoors and then match the image to what it looks like in real life, this is practicing colour grading. LUTs are to add a feel, or tone to the clip. I personally don't use LUTs as i find the lighting shifts to much for it to be consistent (i would not advise people to buy any because of this reason) and are over rated in general. You can use the colour grade sliders after you colour grade instead of a LUT. One last point; setting the camera to neutral and winding everything down to flatten the image. I can't really support these in camera settings, why, because it is not like log, log is a different way of grading the colour steps on the sensor. Making it look log does not mean it is log, + it just creates more work in post. So unless your camera has log, pick the camera setting that looks most natural for your camera, i.e. in camera we taking the clip. This will give a more natural look straight out of camera and you then have less work in post. One more thing, if your camera has log, don't use log in dark environments as you reduce the dynamic Range. Use the normal camera picture settings. Hope this helps. Cheers

jjs4x 24fps is more cinematic. 30fps more of a reality show look. Filmic has a 24 FPS option too.
