I'll just be as honest as I can. I have not found any song that Elvis has done that I don't like. I have loved Elvis ever since I was a young boy, and that's a long time. I'm 70 and my love for his music has never changed. The best singer ever. Period. Thank you for bringing him to us again.

Thanks for all you do!! Even though I grew up listening to Elvis on the radio, I was 19 when he died, I've been on an Elvis journey ever since the movie came out. I could kick myself that I never went to one of his concerts!! I do remember watching the Aloha Special on tv. I was in high school. He simply is the best entertainer there ever has been!!!

That is one of my favorite songs. So sexy!! Elvis jumped into that song with both feet. Dragging that sound up from his toes it looked and felt like. Made the hair on your arms stand up, take notice and dance. That sound, man!! Where the hell did that come from?? Once you heard that sound, that look, that magic that pulled you in and sorta branded you NOTHING stood up to it.

His talent really exploded after his movie contract expired! This performance knocked my socks off! It highlighted his voice range, not to mention he sang it in a very sensual manner, “that only he could do”!! I’m hanging on a ridge waiting to hear the rest of this story!😊🎸

Steve Binder, who produced the 68 Special, said that once Elvis started singing he just kept singing-long past the time he had planned to sing. Steve said that much had to be edited out of the performance. I loved how Elvis looked like he was finally doing what he truly loved. ❤️

Elvis Worked with JD in vocal emission. Later in the years he was able to hit higher notes. In the video of “separate ways” from the on tour footage You can see Elvis singing “each other” and then smiling with JD. It’s because JD coached him on diaphragm sustaining. Elvis as humble as he was was always open on learning new vocal techniques.

Elvis always does a great job with his songs. He not only sang the lyrics, he conducted how the musicians played-controlling when they ‘came in’ on the playing. He actually did the producing of the songs. That’s why he was swinging his arms around, to pump the band up when they were just playing listlessly. He wanted enthusiasm.

The 68 version is amazing. The best. I liked all the versions all the way until his last concerts in 77. He crushes it in 68 though. It's raw. He's energetic. He's raspy. It's rockin'. Awesome. I don't care for the original from 56.

This song, to me, was a foundation song for him I think. The 50's version, 1968-1970 version(s) and the 1977 version are all different from one another, but each is great in their own way, and each completely Elvis. You mentioned you didn't think they rehearsed the song and I think you are correct as you can hear Elvis calling out, "break" "bridge" and other directions to the band, and they only did maybe a 3rd or half of the song.I had no clue Jerry West was ever at an Elvis concert and I think that's was great to know that he was there.

Big Elvis fan here. He died when I was in basic training in the service and I actually got to see him in concert (Dallas/Ft. Worth) about a year before he passed. The song you are talking about has always been one of my favorites of his and had often wondered why he didn't sing that at more of his concerts.
If you haven't already done so for your channel, you may review / talk about the song 'What Now My Love' he sang in 1973, Live via Satellite, Aloha From Hawaii concert. In the last sentence of the song, they say he covered three octaves. A VERY difficult thing to do for any performer, much less with an untrained voice.

The blues is as simple as 1-4-5, but Elvis gave meaning and depth to the genre like no one else could. “Trying to Get to You” is one of my consistent favorites because of the way he whips out that high note with everything he’s got, so that you can’t help but feel it. I have watched a few of your “Gem” series and all of the “Best songs of [year]” videos where people can vote on their top 5. Brilliant and very interactive idea. The concert version songs and your commentary make for great listening, thinking and learning. Big thanks for what you are doing. Loved your private tour of Graceland video and the bag of stuff from the museum store videos! I bought a ton of shirts, FTDs, 2 books and a sweatshirt when I went to Graceland, too, and kept the shopping bag. Finding your channel has made quarantining a little easier in the last few weeks. I am very grateful and look forward to watching all of the live performance footage you have culled and collected. I think I am going to rewatch the Searcher after watching your review video. From a hard core fan with an interest in granular analysis of Elvis’s 70s period music, especially live concerts, I have found my new TH-cam home. Many blessings. And sincere thanks.

This Is 1 Of My Favorite Songs. That Elvis Did. The 1968 Comeback Special Blew Me Away. Steve Bender The Producer Of The Show. Wanted To Show Who Elvis Presley Really Was. As You Know Parker Wanted it To Be A Christmas Special. I’m Glad Steve Talked Elvis Into Doing It His Way. Both Were Great. But I Still Prefer The 68. Special. Another Favorite Was A Month After. Elvis Went To AMERICAN SOUND STUDIOS IN MEMPHIS. This Is 2 Of My Favorite. Albums. FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS. ELVIS BACK IN MEMPHIS. I Own Both of The Originals. To Me Pure Gold. Both. Elvis Never Sounded Better. Like To Know What are Your Thoughts On These Albums. Check Out AND THE GRASS WON’T PAY NO MIND. Neil Diamond Wrote This Song. For Elvis. Thanks. God Bless.

If Elvis was saying he sold more than the Beatles or indeed anyone else I don't think he was bragging. He was stating a fact. He was always a very humble person and loved his fans. He never took them for granted. It could even be after being served with a paternity suit that he was afraid they would desert him so he needed to try and prove he was the best. He was really very humble as I said before and anyway we all know what the papers are like.

"I really dig it" yes you're right very close to the 68 Special version...which I prefer to the original Sun recording.

I happen to love this song, but let me say in tribute to his voice and style, that there have been songs I never particularly cared for---until my man sang them. And then, by putting his own spin and soul into it, I loved them. One example of many is Snowbird.
