- Despite drubbing Mississippi State the night before, Jimbo Fisher was still let go as the head coach of Texas A&M on Sunday morning. In this edition of the Loochador Podcast, Billy Liucci and David Nuño sat down to analyze how this decision was reached and what happens next.

A&M & ut are the highest revenue generating schools. At $200M plus per year that’s $2Billion + over a Ten year HC Coach contract period so we can afford to pay Jimbo off (the payout is paid out annually for the remainder of Jimbos contract) and pay our new coach whatever it takes (assuming top tier HC make $10-12M per year)
Who the flip cares if we can afford it or not at this point......just don't believe guaranteed contracts equal wins. Leadership at the top need to be accountable for the past two bad contracts.

Yeah but the biggest problem is that A&M is still run by Aggies. If they ever make a good coaching hire they might turn it around. But there isn’t much evidence that will happen.

Guarantee you A&M will not pick the right guy. They will pick the guy they can control though. Been watching them for 55 years and they ain't picked the right guy yet. We are talking about a school that has great talent year in and year out. Don't get me wrong, I love them picking the wrong guy. Who was the new QB yesterday? Looks impressive.
Actually, Jackie Sherrill was a good hire. He won 2 out of 3 bowl games. He won 3 conference championships. Finished in the top 10. Started the 12th Man football kick-off team which was an innovation in Division I football with all walk-ons on the team. This was later revised to one walk-on as it is now. Sherrill understood A&M and what it expected. Also under Sherrill, R.C. Slocum developed the Wrecking Crew , a dominant defense that solved the Run 'n Shoot offense which other programs failed to do.

Absolutely no more precarious a situation than the A&M program usually finds itself. A&M is always shooting from the hip!!
rebuild? This roster is loaded and stud QB. It’s a new coach away from the playoffs next year. They did this so they don’t waste the next few years or their talent. Fisher was going to let Texas U get a leg up in recruiting. A&M couldn’t let them.

Today is the happiest day for Aggie Fans
The reason we had so much success with Manziel was because he would take off. If we had a great offensive line, Max or Conner would have won every game this year. But we have not had the kind of offensive line play elite teams have. So we needed Henserson who is a really great runner. Texas a&m has not had very good offensive line play for quite a few years.
If not for all those losses, aggy would be undefeated 😬
As time goes on I feel like A&M and Tech are paying some sort of cosmic toll for the fun that was Johnny and Mahomes.

@@brianroyster7510 I’m an LSU fan too so I get all the rings CFP stuff. I’ve got those too. To be honest though it’s much more enjoyable to root for the underdog. In my opinion. However frustrating that might be.

I just want the new coach to be able to bring in AND coach the OLine so our starting QB wont be in a body cast by the end of the season.
Fisher’s buddy Scott Woodward help him to get contract extension. When Woodward was A&M athletic director, he hired Fisher from Florida State with luxury contract. When he moved to LSU athletic directory 3 years ago he interviewed Fisher and acted like he will lure Fisher to LSU. A&M got the bait to give Fisher extension contract with buyout 77M. Aggies should remember this name besides Jimbo Fisher: Scott Woodhward.

My trusted source tells me it is Jeff Traylor and A&M's administration needs the outside search committee to endorse/bless the decision.

What happened at SC was there on fault. It takes an idiot to hand a 16 yr old the keys to a Ferrari. It takes idiots to hand the keys to a top tier program to a 29 yr old assistant coach.

Look at a smaller team coach that is doing real well. Someone like Curt Cignetti from James Madison University. Proven winner. Must recruit well.
Just moved up from FCS to FBS and landed in the Sunbelt Conference. He is undefeated this year, so far.
He was with Alabama when Saban was building that program. Helped to get a couple of undefeated seasons there before moving to small programs in trouble where he turned them around.
He is worth a hard look.

Jimbo did some good things. He did not inherit a particularly strong roster. He also didn’t have all the criminal mischief that Sumlin had.
Now, I’m going to use this as an example:
Kliff Kingsbury’s bio- He takes credit for the development of such players as Case Keenum, Johnny Manziel, Baker Mayfield, Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray and Caleb Williams. Raise your hand if you believe that.
What I’m saying is that we hired Sumlin, whose record was inflated because of Case Keenum. We hired Jimbo for the National title but Jameis Winston nor did a single coach off of the national championship team make it to A&M. I’ll never know what happened with Dennis Franchione. Maybe it was because of losing Gary Patterson along the way.
All I’m saying is that I was incredibly disappointed with the ever self-promoting Scott Woodward for not being smart enough to look at two things:
1. What made the historical record happen.
and
2. Are the things that made the record happen still there.
I’m so glad Scott Woodward is gone. Take it from a guy in business you have two types of employees. You have the head down, work like hell, continuous improvement type who avoids the spotlight. Then you have the walk fast, talk fast, look important, name dropping, networking, and self promoting type.
Please make sure the first group is seriously looking at all the factors and the repeatability of those factors, because I guarantee you that Kingsbury’s agent will be calling.
There’s a good article on Franchione’s time at A&M. He lived through some difficult events and his unraveling coincided with his sister taking her life.
Gary Patterson… that’s an interesting idea. Look what he did (and left behind) at TCU.

Man- I don’t even know where to begin. Hendersons performance is 100% a knock on Max. Max is a human statue. Hendersons mobility and much faster footwork is what made the offense look different.
