Last Saturday reminded me a little bit of the trip the Aggies made to Oklahoma in 1993 (L 44-14). OU was not a bad team, but not a great one. We took a good team into a hostile environment at night, and things got out of hand. I think that was the second game of the season, and it turned out to be the only loss until the Cotton Bowl, but it stung for a long time.
this is the only source I trust for real truthful recap of games. We were on the way to LSU comeback#2, then Levian puts his head down instead of running out, season over. After that, they made Marcel beat us and he couldn't . Amari isn't Leveon. We couldn't get a 1/2 yard twice. No leveon, no running game, season over! doesn't matter who the QB is! We won't even bring up the tackling!
I think Billy got it right. South Carolina's defense is ranked among the best in the country. They're ranked 3rd in sacks and have given opposing offenses fits all year. Our offense is a work in progress with a new quarterback and young offensive line who's still learning how to play and finish games. Had A&M tackled better, things may have turned out differently. I don't think the A&M players were ready for a slippery/quick 240 lb. QB who can improvise on the fly or a 230 lb. running back. Add to that, we let two games get away from us because we didn't finish. A&M walked right into a trap in Columbia when they got off the plane. A&M is a good team. On this night, we were better.
The problem with me is we have a pretty defined ceiling on offense with reed at qb. We’re gonna beat the teams we out athlete a majority of the time, but we ran into a team that was just as physical as we are and it exposed our offenses inability to create any other opportunities. One of the td drives in the first half was a 56 yard td for Daniels where reed just handed it off. We had one true touchdown drive that had balance in it, one. Klein without being able to dominant run game has a lot to prove
My question that I understand is rhetorical is why do the Aggies always seem to start slow? They started slow against LSU at home and followed it up by another comatose start against South Carolina. It is difficult to win football games when you don’t come out ready to play with a take no prisoners attitude. A&M has never that I can recall possessed this mindset. In my books this issue and solution is clearly on the coaches. If Coach Elko can’t get them ready to play from the start he’s not gonna be that successful long-term.
We just don't have a great offense right now. We have 2 flawed QB's who both seem to be easy to gameplan for, in their own ways. Marcel is getting better, but he is still not respected much as a thrower by opponent defenses. Our offensive line is better than it was last year, but they still aren't very consistent against good competition, which is hurting our QB play a lot. On defense, I think its unnecessary penalties that hurt us the most early.
Calling the butt kicking we suffered in South Carolina a “setback” is like calling the Sun “hot”. What I disliked the most is the sloppy tackling, which had been an identity of our defense for the last 20 years.
Anyone putting the blame on Marcel has invalidated any opinion on football they’ll ever make. This game was lost because of the defenses inability to finish tackles and offensive lines inability to run the football consistently or in short yardage situations. Also A&M opponents have now gone 3 games in a row without a single holding penalty.
those 14 rushing yards from running backs in the second half (excluding the final meaningless drive) didn’t help that’s for sure. Why did we stop running the read option and start drop back passing all half? Klein lost the plot.
I don’t think that was A&M’s worse, it’s just what you’re going to get with Marcel Reed. You threw a curve ball on LSU, it worked, but this is the a&m office with Reed in charge.
What should have happened in the locker room , after the game is… Elko walks up and says this “ This is on me and the coaching staff ( which it was ), then say “ We will not lose another game”, and drop the mike and walk out.. this is a team thing. The players need to take it private and make a decision on the rest of the Season. It’s still there for us. We win out and whether or not we are in the SEC championship, we should be in the playoff. A little help. Bama loses to LSU. We are in. Remember, first season coaching staff, 50% new kids. My original thought was 9-3… great season. We are in a position to do better.
The thing that bothered me about this game was the missed tackles, and penalties. A&M ranks 125 out of 134 in penalties (8.3) and 3 personal fouls per game. I’m surprised how undisciplined they played. That contributed to SC scoring 44. This was probably needed to re focus these boys

This loss isn't fully on Elko. Yes, the QB sneak on 4th and 1 was a bad call. However, 8 times out of 10 we make that yard. Credit SC defense especially their D-line. They are nasty and NFL-ready. The players (especially on defense) need to look at themselves in the mirror and accept responsibility. Way too many missed tackles that led to big gains. Rest up on the bye week; get ready to work. We should win against NMSU with relative ease, but the next big game is AT AUBURN, not home vs. Texas.
some of the worst tackling i've ever seen. i thought the same thing about the first missed sack on their opening drive. that set the tone for the rest of the game. could've been totally opposite if they just tackled the guy.
The season is not over because they had a down game, it's done because without Leveon, all teams will force us to beat them throwing, which we cannot do! it is that simple, no #8, we are done offensively. Couldn't get 1/2 yard three times!

1:14:01 delay of game where SCar just waited for clock to expire.

Noah appeared to get hurt… the SCar guy was yanking on his leg just before the INT Reed threw. Was completely uncalled for.

What about Missouri?? Not sure 2 games should constitute “always”

Defense. Was like that in Elko’s previous tenure also. Usually we own the second half. Not so much in that game.
Truly surprised they didn’t put Conor back in. Didn’t ever agree with Marcel being named starter.

How many points did we score in the second half?

@@TideV2 the answer is 0
@@landongest8364 sure and pinning that on one player suggests you didnt investigate beyond glancing at the box score.

We are a good team but got exposed with tackling. We haven't tackled well all year
The defense was bad and the offense was worse.

Losing by 24 points is pathetic.
Marcel did not have a good game, but I don't think he had a bad game either.

South Carolina playing that way against the Aggies could have beaten the Longhorns easily.
Why does that matter? Wtf?
UTDS
South Carolina was the best team in the country against us.
