Incredible acting ! How the cast pulled off this story line is amazing ! The fact that Luke became a likable character could not have been conveyed without great writing AND acting !
How the Luke and Laura story morphed into a hit soap couple is beyond me. Look at the evil in Luke's eyes, her fear and jealousy. But i was there, glued to the television set when they married. even remembered where i saw it....Damn.. kinda sick as, looking back now... lol
Such an old-fashioned sense of caring and support for her during her time of loneliness and emptiness, it's so quaint almost, compared to other more recent times.
This is great. I was a freshman in high school at that time. Man, the feathered hair, fur coats, turtlenecks - the nostalgia is real. I sure loved my ABC soaps.
Yes am sorry to say..it was ! See like I just said about 2-3 minutes ago. Laura was trying to do the right thing between her and Scotty. Luke did not help any he dedliberly put himself inagain... Luke just damn did it on purpose he interph again....So come on please don't put this on Laura again either? Thanks JMVHO! PEACE OUT Rosie.
This story was really done well. I love that the rape was revisited later in the 90s or 2000s with Lucky finding out and Luke & Laura having to explain it and come to terms with what really happened.
PTSD comes out in various ways. While Laura had gotten used to talking to Luke, it's another situation to see a simulation of the rape scene. Luke didn't just use the music, but danced the dance he did with Laura that night. Powerful! Love the additional scenes that fill in the story.
Yeah they don’t make them like this any more. They just don’t and won’t. They don’t read the small print. That is another reason why over30 million don’t bother to watch. Once it was unbelievably now it’s just cold and very dark. Sorry but that is the way I feel about the show now. I will never watch these new ones. No way I just can’t not without Luke & Laura presents together.... Sorry. Love. Rosie.
Yeah Luke you had your crapedark side even then. Wow what a big jerk. So no Tracy you would have never lasted. Do yourself a favor get lost some place else. Rosie
Yep, a real love story alright. Luke was playing her from the beginning until she crumbled. Never mind that Laura was an immature and damaged 19yr old. Terrific sexual and emotional chemistry but Luke clearly had the advantage. Then it was Scotty blaming her, the kidnapping, being raped and married to psycho Stavros, and her Stockholm syndrome connection with Stefan. Crazy man, just crazy!
Frances Larsen: I know! It's like he was 'proud' of what he did. Like the violation of rape was a 'good' thing to him. Ick. I never liked Luke and this is one of the many reasons why.
@@ellyreginald6546 Actually, she was only 17 at this point:(. I suppose they had her turn 18 in December, now that I think about it, but she didn't turn 18 in real life until May - these scenes are in January. Sorry to get so technical, I'm really analytical that way, ha.
Yes Luke knows how to hurt deeply when he wants to. That in itself is very evil. It's deep enought to cut to make one bleed that was truly desrespect and ugly. You just can't get over that. Rosie
Jennifer had no idea why Luke turned on the charm and charisma right then. There are several times where they show how obsessed Luke is with Laura. Him turning on that song and staring at her shows how far gone he is for her. Poor Jennifer had no chance once he turns on his swag. Laura was upset by the song, but she was also jealous of him showing so much attention to Jennifer in such a public way, right on the dance floor. This is good soap stuff right here. LnL's chemistry is phenomenal.
Talking to LUKE came natural to Laura. She had done it time and time again before so of course it's not affecting her as much as hearing that "song" that was playing the night they danced and he had his way with her. Makes sense to me!
@@ROXI-zq4fg Basically date rape, they were already good friends and had the hots for one another, I've been in a situation, forget your conscience. Laura was young. 💕
Oh please you call that LOVE. I call that getting pay back...because you don’t love me the way in which ....I loved you? And that sucks. real deep down into your soul JMO. Rosie
Yes Laura did leave town. Laura not only saved Luke's life. She also saved PC from becoming a mob town too. I mean Luke is a hero too But if Laura did not help Luke from his water grave a lot of people would have lost a lot more. Just ask Luke he said as much to Laura when they were in the motel room together. Yes Laura did tell her parents about being in love with another man. Laura did not say who is hat man was until they both got back into town again. So ok thanks love RosieSorry Laura did not let her parents know who that man was until they both got back into town. Then she told her parents that she left town willingly she also said that the man she left with was Luke he did not rape her and that she loved him. She has loved him for quite sometime now so ok now maybe we are all clear Thank you Rosie
Laura was sooo rude to Claudia. She had every right to be jealous of Laura's new friend. Claudia was always a true friend to Laura. Yet after the big Luke/Laura phenomenon, the show just slowly but surely phased out Laura and Claudia's friendship.
I know that I am in the minority of most viewers, but to me, Luke and Laura were not a phenomenon I watched before Luke was even a presence on the show and I loved it. Don’t get me wrong I liked those characters but I like them better when they returned with Lucky in the 90s.
I know it's probably a sibling thing, but Luke was a major jerk to Bobby at the end of this episode and he was actually very condescending toward Laura and her feelings. Very disappointed in Luke for sure.
in todays times that would be considered to be abusive to play the song that you raped a girl too!! & Laura there listening to it, & she runs out of the disco traumatized & Scotty wonders what is wrong... that is the music that was playing when Luke raped Laura & yet Luke was made into a hero given many accolades & daytime emmys while Laura (Genie) had to wait years for hers, & received only one & she deserves much more!!!

Yep …it’s crazy how we idiolize evil people
Yeah Luke was a real pos here
He's so gross, putting this song on
Sometimes love is complicated
Thanks for posting this ep. It's been 38 years since I last seen it, but all came back to me quick about the rape and the disco.
So much thanks for these clips. Love to see PtChuck !!!!
Wow Luke played “the Song”. Thats pretty messed up..
Right?! So cold blooded!!
It's amazing how you have these episodes! Let's me see the history instead of hearing about it.
Love the dancing scene. Delightfully twisted and completely messed up!
I love it when Luke dances away from Bobbie he's got a lot of rhythm.
I love that part!
Somehow, his “horns” are showing when he does that dance! 😈

I like the way they call the bathroom the powder room

The Laura Luke Dance scene is so disturbing on so many levels. It’s also emotionally draining.

Luke, that was a horrible thing to do.

This one scene makes me cringe where Luke is concerned. I don't care what angle you look at it, it's inexcusable.

Herb Alpert night at the Campus Disco!
"Rise" also known as "The Rape" song.

Yep even when he raped Laura on the dance floor
Annie Logan was so pretty.
Yeah, She was. Just wish she wasn't So difficult.
Scotty: “I think the music upset her…”
Bryan: “Well that doesn’t make any sense-why would the mUUsic upset her?”😂😂😂
Laura was more jealous than anything, Jennifer and Luke were hot on the dance floor. Scotty was such a drudge.
At least Scotty was not a rapist
Steve and Audrey so cute with Leslie here... :)
Frances Larsen I thought it was cute when Steve was going to kiss Audrey on the couch, like teenagers and then, the doorbell.
@@christineadams1284 Yes, that was the type thing I liked about these old episodes, the playfulness!

There are whole clips where Laura confessed to both Rick and Leslie that she had an affair with Luke and she left Port Charles willingly with him.
@ Barbara Long Laura admitted to Rick & Lesley that she was attracted to somebody else, but she never told them it was Luke.

She didn't have an affair with him, it was one night after 3 months on the run.
I love Brian: "But then again I never did understand women".
Haha.. Who does, I’m a woman & I don’t always understand them.
Luke was such an evil man.
Luke is such a great dancer! He's got the whole package & I would love to dance with Luke! I would be happy to take him off of Laura's hands!
Jennifer's hair looked so natural. What happened later?
happened the early 80's
I don't remember how Bobbie found out about the rape?
Luke told Bobbie himself. Rosie

Luke was kind of strange
How is Anne Logan related to the Hardy’s???
Anne Logan is Audrey Hardy's niece.
I think I saw a scene where I think they said something about Audrey’s sister had died and how was her niece. That makes sense now. Thanks!!!
Who is the girl talking to Laura in the bathroom?
The first one is Joann who she met in her rape support group then of course Jennifer Smith briefly then later Claudia.
5:52 …now, Luke….😒😒😒
I have never liked the Hardy house, that ground floor is so crowded.
Jennifer had to know about Roy. After Anne and Bobbie leave, she had a strange look on her face. She changes
