    Thanks for providing the belt diagram. I had to replace the alternator on 200 with the 2.4L and did not make a diagram or take a picture before removing the alternator.
    I was almost ready to spend $30 for a book.

    I have a coolant leak somewhere but no spots anywhere I found with the house then took it to dodge they said it was good I did a combustion gas leak test it passed so head gasket is fine but I still have a slow leak but theirs no coolant anywhere it just keeps going missing and I just had dodge flush the system because they said it was good people keep saying the tstat housing but wouldn’t I see it drip I can do the work myself but does that make sense that the tstat would cause coolant to go missing without a visible leak

      Hi there I have the same issue did you find out the root cause of your missing coolant?

    I have replaced the thermostat, coolant sensor. Still overheating. Would you advise to change the water pump? Also, does this process apply to the dodge journey as well. It has a 2.4l

    Some parts are showing the water pump mounted on a housing. Is it better to buy just the water pump or the one with the water pump already mounted on the housing that bolts to the block? And would it be more difficult to get to the housing bolts? Would it all be about the same for a 2010 Avenger 2.4?

    Did you put any RTV sealant on the gasket?

    Just wondering did you apply any sealant on the water pump gasket ?
    Like the grey water --pump / thermostat housing sealant by permatex ? thanks great vids

    • @MotorCityMechanic

      +HOTRODRICO Morning. The gasket that came with the waterpump is actually a metal gasket. I didn't have to use any sealant on this one but it surely requires a good clean surface, but being that its a metal gasket....there wont be any previous paper gasket material left behind so it should be almost clean to begin with. I also have 2.4l. changed thermostats and still running hot gets up to 3/4 on the temp gauge. Did changing the pump fix your issues? Thanks guys.

    My car is not overheating but it's just leaking Everytime I start it up. Think it's the waterpump failing.? No check engine light on also.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically its the thermostat housing leaking on that engine. I recommend pressure testing the cooling system to see if you can pinpoint where it is coming from.

    I have a 2013 avenger. It showed the check engine light and the thermostat was replaced. Now, it makes a hissing sound whenever I use the a.c for awhile and turn off the engine. What's causing the hissing sound?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say without hearing it myself and being able to get my hands on it. If it all happened at the same time then I would recommend double checking everything that was removed during the t-stat removal. It may or may not be related. My Durango Hvac system makes a hiss for a short time when the system is turned on and I believe most ikely that its the expansion block causing it....just havent gotten around to replacing it yet to see if any change. Otherwise nothing is coming to mind at the moment that could be related to the repair and the noise. Thanks for asking and thanks for watching. Make sure to subscribe.

    I'm trying to replace the thermostats on the avenger how to get to the or I have replace the whole water assembly

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need to remove the whole assembly because one thermostat is sandwiched between the housing and the cylinder head. The other is removed by unbolting the hose neck from the housing,. I dont have any videos on this as of yet so please excuse. Make sure to subscribe if you havent already so that you get notified when videos such as that get uploaded.
