    I’ve always been concerned about breaking a prop blade with those style propulsion units. Especially after Hobie came out with the “flip fins” (which is what prompted me to go with my Outback) ❣️❣️ The one thing I also noticed was that these Titan’s are a lot heavier than most other kayaks n their range. I am a smaller person and can’t handle a Titan X 10,5 or 12.5❗️ But their heavier manufacture speaks to the durability of the Kayak, I hear they are much more dense than mid other kayaks out there which is good for durability purposes (no cracked hulls from scupper wheels, seats or adding sidekick wheels) ! The one other detraction from this kayak is that when loading or unloading from the bed of my truck I could damage the rudder while resting it on the keel before getting it up on the bed of my truck. Using a trailer would be recommended for this kayak.

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I load and unload mine easily from the truck. Back down the ramp, use a truck bed extender, prop the bow on the extender, hop in the truck bed and just pull it up. Pretty low effort for how heavy the hull is. I just empty everything but the drive.

    What! I just paid off my Shoalie! Damn this thing is nice. The options are endless. I ran an xi3 motorguide in the front for to years, just went to stern mount, and I will not go back to bow mounted. Spot lock was crazy with xi3, 55lbs of thrust when the "gps" wants to stay still = your yak going 5ft sideways instantly, BE READY! In the end, i disconnected the "gps" and decided to go with stern. Pedal steered with transom mount has been a game changer for me! Even standing up fishing! If ya want to, just like a "Home Improvement" episode. You should attach 3 xi3's, no wait, 4 xi3's! Now I'm just getting carried away. Thanks, guys, for another awesome video and a debit on my account for another yak.

    Great rig and a sexy colour! I have the identical kayak and am extremely happy with it so far. It is definitely a huge and heavy boat but the stability is so good that tipping over is something you will likely never worry about again. The only problem I have found is that the amount of storage space allows you to bring a ridiculous amount of gear which makes it even heavier. It’s a gear junkies dream…and a portagers nightmare

    I also have a new Titan X12.5. I had issues with the power plate at the bow when rigging my Xi3. I used a setup similar to my previous SS127 with a cord run through the hull and attached to the pedal to release the motor. My power plug was just too close to the pedal for it to engage correctly so I ended up running the plug on the hatch lid. You might mock that all up really good before you drill holes like I did. Funny thing is the Native Video, Jordan Lee’s video, and the Untamed Outdoor guys dont actually show how it all works after the motor is mounted on the bow and plugged in. There is a flat plug that Minnkota makes that might make that all work best, but my MarineCo, and alternate amazon plug are too big.

      What are you waiting for? Fishing is calling😊 I'm not personally a Pelican fan, but, if that's your jam. Then, hell yeah! I am as skinny as a bean pole, which works in certain occasions. But, all my buddies are 220-250lbs+ and 6ft+. The Pelican catch mode 110 was an option for them. We as a group not only incorporate fishing, but also camping. So "dry storage" is a must for us. Definitely check weight limits for kayaks, any brand that doesn't easily and readily convey their weight limit, I would be skeptical. Your adding a lot of weight and problems, just be sure you can handle them, no disrespect.

    In some ways, the Titan X is the ultimate fishing kayak - although the swivel seat needs the ability to lock itself going forward. It has some downsides though. It's heavy, has a rather limited weight capacity at 500lbs counting the hull and drive (per Native), it's fairly wet and it's slow (it is competitive among kayaks that go for stability over speed though). But it gives you a ton of space and stability to work with. Personally, I think if I was going to add a motor and weighed a little bit less, the Titan X would beat out the Pro Angler in terms of loadout.
    I personally like my Old Town Bigwater. Space is a little more limited, although I do manage to carry all the tackle I need and 5 rods with just my Blackpak pro (8 if I can find some raised feet for it). But the weight is much more manageable and it's super fast, instead of working to do a mile at < 3mph, I work to do a mile a 4.5mph.

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have a big water as well! Big fan!

    • @JupiterBassin
      @JupiterBassin 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean If you haven't been in one your assessment is kinda off. I pedal at close to 3.5 with ease. I weight 320 have an xi3, garmin and a black pack with 5 rods. The inside of my titan x never has water with scuppers in. Only time I get water is what I bring in from getting in or from a fish. Mine sits in the water just about the same as it was stock now that its fully loaded. Im sure it wouldnt be as good if the scuppers were out 😂. As for the seat its a fairly tight swivel doesnt move much like say a desk chair. When I pedal I dont even notice it. Your right about it being heavy though it's not fun to load and unload but the sidekick helps

    • @shred5
      @shred5 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JupiterBassin sorry, but my assessment is spot on. Most people do 2.5 - 3mph over longer distances. I don't think I could go a mile across the lake at 3 or faster, at least if I have to go back and fish another few hours after that. I mean I can get it well above 4, but that's tiring real fast.
      And again, you need scupper plugs because it's wet without them. Technically you weight and the boat's weight is around the maximum weight capacity per Native, probably because of the water that gets in. Also those who weigh much less than we do get soaked even with scupper plugs fishing offshore or in rough conditions. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, living 3 hours from the ocean with no traffic, but disappointing - considering it's size, I would expect a higher weight capacity, although that might mean you only pedal it 1.5mph too, it does pretty well for its size.
      And for the seat, that doesn't really make or break the boat but literally every Titan X owner has said the ability to lock the seat going forward would be the first improvement they'd make after fixing the water issue. It's just a step closer to perfect.
      I'm not shitting on the Titan X by any means, but it has it's pros and cons for sure but does a lot of stuff right. Another con I didn't mention is due to the width, I likely couldn't fit 2 kayaks on my trailer.

    • @JupiterBassin
      @JupiterBassin 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@shred5 I could care less if you trash the titan x it's your personal preference but Im just saying your assessment is wrong. My point is if you dont own one or been in one dont act like you know what your talking about. lol

    • @shred5
      @shred5 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JupiterBassin Again, my assessment is not wrong. I don't own one. I have demo'd almost every kayak on the market that roughly meets my weight capacity though. I also know a lot of people with them, and their experiences as well as my own are all different than yours which makes me question the honesty of your assessment, as well as claiming I haven't been in one, aka your bias is showing pretty strong right now.

      @@aaanglers well that makes sense then. And it would be terrible for salt for the same reason the Bonafide is terrible for salt. There are videos of people trying to launch a bonafide from the beach and it flips vertically! I thought about buying one until I saw that... It seems really great for some applications, just not others.

      That makes sense. We are no where near the ocean, so we never really consider it. I see a lot of guys in Hobie Outbacks on the salt water which is around the same price point.

      @@aaanglers the Hobies are great for cutting through the waves, and the Old Towns are also really great for it, especially the salty. Bonafide, from what I've seen, makes an extremely stable kayak, it just comes at a cost to versatility. Similar to Bay Boats/Bass Boats vs Offshore Boats.

    Nice yak. I decided against it after i testet it for a week. Why? It's so damn fckn heavy. Way too much- sorry. If you have to be flexible and have no waters to slip easy you're screwd. Otherwise- it's stable

    The titan is a barge not a kayak. You must have a trailer and can only use it in lakes and rivers.

      Well that’s where I use it and I launch it from the truck bed pretty easy.

    I know you said you get it but... still overpriced... ha ha ah. sure you can buy a boat but the issue is that I want a kayak both for it being easier to store and lug around but also because it is actually cheaper than a boat. $3500 is an insane markup for a $100 plastic shell and $300 of hardware... ugh. Until American Kayak makers can return to realistic (read real) prices, they are all just a sad joke.

      Yeah, but thats what I want it for. Most kayaks are good on lake OR river, not usually both. That we have yet to see
