Jack isn't even 30 when air travel becomes the most popular mode of transportation and cars have completely replaced horses and there is skyscrapers in new York and he'll be 50 around la noire when things are extremely advanced and way more modern the red dead redemption which is still a relic of the age of exploration and industrial age
Also I find it funny looking at America in this game then knowing they send a man to the moon 55 years later. Very impressive
Yeah it's insane to think that the early days of powered flight are referenced in this mission, with John not quite able to believe it, and yet in just over 50 years from this point men would walk on the moon. Amazing.
Its really hard to process. By the time Jack is in his 50's, the world is completely different. Wild West is gone, but he isn't.

This mission shows a side of Uncle that hadn't been seen previously, and thinking about it made me grow respect for the character. In RDR2 he's infamously lazy, incapable, and cowardly. It was rare that he ever got his hands dirty or contributed to making money for the gang. After he reunites with John, he helps to a degree, but the theme basically runs on. And as soon as the army shows up, John tells him, "There's still time for you to run, old man.", yet he doesn't. He doesn't hide either. We would have expected the old Uncle to at least hide in the house with Abigail, but instead, he opts to fight the army with John. He knew it was a death sentence, but I believe he came to terms with that and spent the last moments protecting the people he cares about. I just think it's a remarkable moment of bravery for that character which is often overlooked.
Lindolf very insightful. I agree, he really redeemed his character by doing that.

I always loved that, even before RDR2
I think that was uncles redemption in a way, spent his whole life lazing around, drinking and generally being a bit of a drunk coward only to spend his final moments defending his loved ones when he has the opportunity to flee

They clearly knew who they were dealing with so they brought an army.

Canonically, John probably only fought a few soldiers with Uncle and Jack, then ten or so guys showed up with Ross at the end. There's only more for gameplay purposes.

You see, that's one of the reasons I fucking LOVE this game.
Not only it has of the best storylines, every mission and trophy/achievement has an Easter Egg in its name.
Many are historical, like Manifest Destiny, this one is biblical.

The part that makes this mission really sad is that they show John and Jack communicating to each other far more comfortably than we've ever seen. They both really start to understand each other and get along. Yet not even 10 minutes later John just dies. Fucked up

I don’t think anybody really acknowledges that Jack is literally defending his house against the United States Army at only 16 years old and that Abigail is shooting at the Army too
*Fun Fact: There was actually a cut mission where you help a blacksmith in black water create a new type of auto weapon (M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle) that would shot more than 20 rounds at a time and was going to be an optional side mission where you had to collect the items to help build it, the mission was originally going to be called "The Weapon to End All Feuds" and it was supposed to help John survive this mission but it was cut of course.*

All of the missions with John's family make me sad because I know they're building up to the end. I've been replaying this game for the last couple of weeks, definitely a top 3 game for me. I'm more hyped for RDR2 than I've been for a game in a long time...

It’s because most, if not all gunslingers ended up dying in brutal ways. John symbolized the Wild West and his death marked the end of that era. The game is also about the redemption of that era.
Still didn't deserve to die like that. Did all that work for Ross and that's how he gets repaid? Fuck that. That's why I move on to Undead Nightmare after he's returned home. I know that Undead Nightmare is just a downloadable content but this is how I put it since I don't like John's death

Knowing John’s complete story from RDR2 to RDR and then replaying this really adds a weight to it that I had not known was there.
To me this is one of the greatest endings of all time, truly a masterpiece thats why Red Dead Redemption is one of the greatest games of our generation quite possibly of all time. RDR2 I'm ready! 😠

1. Hunted Down his Old Gang.
2. Helped Marshall Johnson clean up New Austin of Criminals.
3. Saved the MacFarlane's Herd of Cattle from Stampeding of a Cliff in the middle of a Thunderstorm
4. Broke horses for the MacFarlane's.
5. Saved the horses from a burning barn.
6. Saved Bonnie from being hung in the middle of a Ghost Town.
7. Saved West Dickens life.
8. Saved Irish from being drowned by his old friends.
9. Saved Luisa from the Mexican Army.
10. Stopped The Government in Mexico from Executing innocent people.
11. Saved Abraham Reyes from execution.
12. Overthrown a Mexican Tyrant that was Housing an American Criminal.
13. Helped Professor escape back to Yale.
14. Stopped Bandits from Robbing a Train.
15. Brought the MacFarlane's Corn when their entire county supply was eaten by Pests.
16. Saved his Son from being Killed by a Grizzly Bear.
you can have the highest honor and fame in the game. the government doesn't care.

@@erikma5638 GTA community is one hell of hipocrisy, when gta SA came out, there were people hating it saying it missed content from vice city like more weapon variations, Pizza job Side mission, etc. when GTA IV came out, people hated it and said SA was better because it was lacking some Side missions, Weapons, the driving was complicated because you had to basically desaccelarate to turn every corner, because it had REALISTIC driving, the game was lacking content from GTA SA etc. yet GTA IV's story is superior to GTA SA story. and when V came out, people started hating it saying it was inferior to gta IV because it lacked Side missions, the Story was bad, boring characters, the driving was too unrealistic etc. in reality you can't agree with them, you have to at least play it by yourself rather than blindly agree with those hypocrites.

John Marston was 26 in Red Dead Redemption 2. 33 in the epilogue chapter. And then, John was 38 in the first game.
Arthur Morgan in RDR2 was actually 36 years old. Explains both his position in Dutch’s gang and the age in his voice.

Don't get me wrong, there are suprising moments. Like Molly's death. But John's death was so unexpected it still hurts.
The thing with John's death is the made you feel like it's over.. They made you feel like you're a part of a family again and it was all worth something doing what you did. You didn't expect for him to die until he dropped down cause even when they opened that barn door I thought he'd shoot everyone of them.
With part 2, a lot of it is spoilt if you play part 1 In my opinion. Jack being taken, Javier being taken, John and Abigail being aressted.
You know which characters would live on and which would most probably die... That's why 1 had more of an impact in my opinion

Perseus Jackson So as we all know from RDR2, Micah was the rat of the gang and gave info to the Pinkertons. When u see him in American Venom, he is accompanied by Dutch, which would make one thing that he actually had Dutch come to his hideout to turn him in to the law: segwaying into my next point. After finishing the game, when the credits play, there are scenes of what happy to the surviving members of the gang. One of those scenes is two Pinkertons reaching the peak of Mount Hagen, just to find there little rat dead. In red dead 1, the Synopsis is that the government found Beechers Hope and kidnapped Johns family, and they will only return them if John captures or kills Dutch, Bill, and Javier. You can infer that if Micah never got killed by John, the Pinkertons, and therefore the government would have never found John’s ranch, and the first game would not have happened
@@tuccerjim3084 People say that but it's far from the truth. The Pinkerton's were gonna hunt every single member down no matter what. Just like how they tracked Micah(to kill him) even after he cooperated with them. They went all the way to Mexico for Javier, they wanted to kill every single one of em. Not only was it his job as the new head of the bureau of investigation (initial version of the FBI) but it was also personal from his Pinkerton days. I don't think Edgar Ross would've retired until he knew for a fact that every single member of the Dutch Van der Line gang was dead. They probably would've tried to kill Arthur too had he cooperated with them when they tried to coerce him
Jack's reaction to Uncle dying breaks my heart every time. Uncle was always there for him , didnt ever criticize him either, just was a good friend to him.
Uncle shows his true colors here, he's not a coward, fool or incompetent, he stood his ground and gave John, Jack and Abigail a chance.

The moment the Dead Eye activates, I will have repeated it at least 6 times, being convinced that I was the one doing something wrong causing John to die.

In my opinion this is the greatest video game ever!!! The plot was so written so damn well. The character development was superb. The action was magnificent of course. And the graphics were incredibly majestic. Couldn't ask for anything better than this. RIP John Marston.
I am a rock star fanatic & I believe they can't put out no wrong from GTA, Midnightclub, The Warriors, & bully. This might be may favorite rock start game & I just now got to play it & complete(Ik I'm late). I played the undead version yrs ago & the game felt smooth but I nvr understood how ppl could compare it to GTA until I finally played it for my self. Like u mentioned, character development is great & it's a well told story. I can imagine this being a huge western film in yrs to come

I'm kinda hoping it would be at least half as good as Red Dead Redemption. But I don't want it to be better for nostalgic reasons. I like gta 4 better because of the storyline and characters, gta v for better graphics and gameplay. Hopefully Red Dead 3 will live up and fill the shoes of Red Dead Redemption.

when i heard deadmans gun it reminded me how sad this game actually is, jack loses everything in 3 years, john, abigail, uncle, even his dog, when i play this game as jack i never go back to beechers hope because its too depressing without anyone there which is why i always help people as jack rather than make him evil like everyone else

Playing RDR2 and coming back this mission had so much perspective to be considered, I think the most fascinating realization is despite being lazy, despite being all talk and despite being a worthless old drunk. Uncle was a true ride or die, he was a huge pain in the ass but in the end all memes aside Uncle fought till the end and ultimately gave his life for the Marstons. Those who never played the first would probably never guess Uncle was one of the very last Van Der Lindes standing.
Of the Gunslinging, yes, he was one of the last.
Overall? Sadie, Charles, Trelawny, Pearson, Mary-Beth Gaskill, Reverend Swanson were all alive and well at the end of RDR2, so there is a chance they were alive at 1911 too.

I always admired how loyal john marston is to the player. From the moment you get off the train you're free to do whatever you please with marston. He never questions your decisions and always follows them. You can kill anyone, anything go anywhere it doesnt matter he does it. And you help him in his entire life. As Arthur as well. There is a time where he also briefly looks at you during a mission as if joking with you. Unlike tony montana from scarface who wont kill any innocent civilian. John will. Even his last moments he shares them with you giving you the honour of marking down the agents so you can kill them. And he makes amends for his death. Almost immediately giving you his boy jack to continue your adventures in the west. And jack is no less than his father. He even does his level best to make the player not miss john going as far to dress as him to comfort the player. The marstons truly deserve the best from their fanbase for their loyalty.

One of the subtle touches that gets me most is how at the final stand off, you only have an inkling of dead eye left, you know there's no way you'll be able to kill them all, but still, you're given a shot at taking as many down with you.

I’m 21 and this mission made me cry like a baby. Seriously.
For the first time when John kissed Abigail, then when he got shot, then when Abigail cried on his dead body. And I fell into total depression, when i heard “Deadman’s gun” during the credits. Im too sensitive, thats the fact. But im sure this melted hearts of thousands of strongest people.

This soundtrack at 7:01 is just...beautiful. The music for this game fits so well with the tone and the scenes.
Edgar killing John was stupid. He could've used him again if he ever needed him. But Edgar was all like "LET'S KILL THE GUY WHO SINGLE HANDEDLY KILLED 3 DIFFERENT ARMY SIZED GANGS INSTEAD OF USING HIM WHEN WE NEED HIM AGAIN!"

I keep crying each time I see John Marston die, He was such a character, he carried a lot of memories that you some how remember evey mission you go on with him, its so sad to see him get shot like that, the saddest part was when Jack was an adult looking at the grave of John Marston and Abigail Marston.
The way Edgar Ross pulled out a cig and signaled for his troops to leave was almost the same thing Shepard did after he killed Ghost in MW2

I noticed from both RDR and RDR2 that Jack has a fascination with aircraft- fast forward after he kills Ross he joins the Lafayette Escadrille and becomes a fighter ace in WW1. Man, that would be a great RDR3 premise. Tear hell through the Western Front.
I wanted to write an email to Rockstar about my ideas for a Red Dead Redemption Remake and a Red Dead Redemption 3. I'm just trying to find what Rockstar's email is

i always wondered what would happen if the last mission took place at MacFarlane's Ranch instead of Beecher's Hope. it ends where it begins as they say. how i imagine it would go down is that archer fordham rides quickly to John's home and warns him of the impending attack/betrayal by ross. John moves his family to the ranch to make their stand there with some "back up". by "back up" everyone who assaulted fort mercer would be there plus landon ricketts. an epic gunfight ensues just like at Beecher's but bigger and more awesome. at the end Ross is fatally wounded by Ricketts but it is John that delivers the coup de grace. a party is held afterwards. during the festivities John is informed by fordham that he is pardoned for good this time thanks to "evidence of corruption" found on Ross' body and office. in a way the last of enemy/loose end that needed to get rid was Ross instead of John.

Usman Diligent things don't look good for the members of the gang. They are on the run and in RDR I John is tasked with hunting down allegedly the last 3 members of the gang. I have a feeling RDR II is going to be a blood bath. I believe you can see a shot of Arthur in the third trailer walking away from two graves and he didn't look happy.
