- James Cameron's Avatar: The Game allows you to step inside the world of the feature film if it was rendered on a PS3 instead of a good graphics computer. Choose to fight for either RDA or the Na'vi, arming yourself with like 7 different weapons and a variety of clan-specific skills like Take Less Damage Mode and Do More Damage Mode. Acquire new skills as you advance through the game, giving your all in the epic battle for a planet, a people, and Falco from Smash Bros.

I love that the film is full of beautiful colour and vivid lighting and the game was just like "yeah 2009 shooter colour scheme"
I remember the pc version looks more colorfull than the console version i remember one area was just pure bueatifull at max settings , this game have a lot of physx on pc pretty cool effects in the jungle , and in the night the glooming flower with the ricers cools 10/10, good escenario and art direction

I played this game so much as a kid. And always chose humans. They that had so many guns, helicopters and mechs. Blue Guys campaign is pretty cool too, but RDA is just awesome.

holy shit you FINALLY played it! Just a fun fact for anyone who has played this game: On the first navi level theres a human-avatar encampment that you can gain access to, because you've sided with the navi the human controlled avatars WILL shoot you.
And the human controlled Avtr speaking Na'vi ...so faqin'weirdo~

This is a prime guilty pleasure game for me. No consequences for dying and there's nothing to do in the open world, but still, it was fun to explore Pandora.
It's not even a guilty pleasure. The game is just fun. And from my opinon, that's exactly what games should be: fun.

This game also has a RISK minigame for both sides. You have a home base and conquer Pandora which is split into zones using your Infantry, Mechs and Scorpions (Warriors, Horse riders and Ikrans)

The mini-game also gave bonuses to your character upon taking and holding certain territories too, pretty nice incentive and it was totally optional anyway.

@@IdRadical Yeah, the mini-game is pretty good actually. The bonuses are nice, it's fairly simple and easy to get into, and above all else, it's not mandatory.
"I can't tell the aliens from the animals!" hits a bit different when you're wearing the aliens like a suit.

This game also had a pvp multiplayer and it was actually really fun. Moving though a jungle path in a Mech suit with a squad of people only to be ambushed from overhead vines by Blue giants with massive clubs was some of the best fun I had in 7th gen.

COD was the crack epidemic of the gaming world. A lot of us succumbed to it.
I played it a dozen times ten years ago, both navi and human gameplay. It was one day that I accidentally kicked off the disk door of the xbox that was randomly open. Then we gave it to some guys who said they can fix it. But they never gave the xbox back. So now I have the game with me but I'll never play it again. Such good memories.

Fun fact: the ending Oboe picked for the game is actually the canon ending of the movie which the sequel builds off from, rather than the ending of the first movie that was shown in theaters. This is true and can't be disproven because no one saw the Avatar sequel, and anyone who did wouldn't admit it

This game was so good as a kid. Beat it countless times as both sides. I remember there were certain areas where enemies would constantly respawn and I would spend many hours defeating the waves, playing around with the sandbox. Sad it’s not backwards compatible on Xbox. I still have the disc. I am afraid that as an adult it probably won’t hit the same tho but good memories
Same, there was this lake area with a big hill that Na'vi would constantly spawn on so I camped there with my attack helicopter just blasting them when they came running out.
I got it for Christmas one year as a kid. Enjoyed it. Liked having the branching narrative based on which faction you chose.

Yes, but they're not inherently hostile, that's just environmental conditions. Pandora is a massive jungle world filled with violent alien wildlife that tries its hardest to murder you. Some of said wildlife is intelligent and those ones *really* want to murder you.
I'm glad that someone noticed this game is kinda good. As a kid, I became super good at this one and enjoyed it.
My dad and I had separate profiles playing this and we competed for time on the 360. Actually good game.
The Rouge Trooper franchise really changed after the first game
I loved this game as a kid, played hundreds of hours for some reason (I didnt have internet) and yeah the RDA is the superior run. In terms of ambition, there's some really interesting strategies for the RDA equipment that goes mechanics heavy. Like the SIR is really useful at distance, and does more damage and is more accurate at long to medium range, the Bushboss will panic Viperwolves, and the Scorpion tiltrotors automatically pitch forwards and if brought in for low swoops enable hilariously one sided missile salvoes against ground based enemies. The AMP suit also knocks enemies down when it jumps, can attack with the GAU rifle's bayonet, which actually causes a bleed effect and is the only RDA melee attack in the game. Also, the WASP pistols have TOW like trackers in the bullets. None of this is actually mentioned as mechanics but was just put in

Man, I remember playing through the Na'avi campaign, totally forgot you could side as the humans. I'm pretty sure the blue dorks campaign was longer and had better missions than what you showed here.
PS: Mech-sized assault rifles with bayonets are the most kino firearm possible

This game was one of the first I got and I was surprised at how enjoyable it was. Did both the campaigns and was tempted to try and get each map to 100% until I realized just how much exploration it would take....

Just imagine that instead of creating Avatars to find the weaknesses of the Na vi, the humans build the rougue trooper guys to invade all of pandora. Since they are kinda similar; being able to breath in a violent atsmosphere, stronger bodies that puts to shame the average military guy, and of course they are both blue.
They called me crazy when the hellgased invaded. Even more when we invaded them with the GI trooper aka rouge troopers. But now We will invade somone else with our clone army because I HATE HIPPY NATURE AND TALL BLUE people with stupidly big feet... We can not let there foot fuel fetish power be unleashed.. WE MUST CLEANSE THEM IN BLOOD AND FLAME BROTHER!
There's a shot in the movie when the main character turns into a blue guy where the camera focuses on his big feet as he wiggles his toes.

It does have neat ideas, it's a shame the Na'vi path is 5x harder since you get torn to shreds by bullets.
Bow is a one-shot weapon, tho. Plus, plants don't attack you on sight.

If I remember correctly, this game goes in two wildly different directions where it's basically the Human campaign or the Navi campaign. Like some people have mentioned the human campaign is better because guns. It is possible someone could play this game without knowing there's two distinct sides to it.

I PLAYED THIS GAME SO MUCH AS A KID. Played both paths through TWICE. (RDA is objectively more interesting and fun)
I don't know why, but I loved this game growing up, especially the human ability of sending the locals flying back by punching the ground.

I remember briefly playing the PvP for this game and it was kinda hilariously one sided, because the humans were obviously smaller but for some reason also had way more gun options, with a shorter ttk than the Navi (as in they could kill quicker than Navi could) had more forgiving aim due to higher fire rates, AND the maps were designed to favour ranged combat over melee (which made up 3 of the 4 options for Navi players)

I remember this game from my childhood - I had it on PC, was one of my first open-world games and one of my first third-person shooters.

I remember playing this game on pc when I was like 9-12 years old.
I have never been deep into 3rd person shooters but this game was honestly pretty enjoyable.
I remembered how I read a view reviews in dutch gaming magazines as a kid and literally all the reviews were massively positive about this game but for some reason I could NEVER find it for sale ANYWHERE, and then promptly forgot about until this vid, good to know those reviews werent lying seems great tbh for what it is

Back in about 2009, my parents bought a massive new (at the time) tv, and the store they bought it from had a promotion where they threw in a free Nintendo Wii with every purchase of a tv over a certain price. I was a PC and Xbox360 gamer at the time, but was happy to get a free Wii. The Wii also came with this game, and I remember at the time hearing that this game was actually pretty alright for a movie tie-in game. But in my head I just heard "movie tie-in game" and instead of playing it I headed out and bought a copy of Metroid Prime instead. I never played the copy of Avatar: The Game that came with the Wii, in fact it is probably still sealed in its original shrink wrapping.
I kinda regret not trying this game out at the time. It does actually look like a fun game for the time, but not good enough that I'd be willing to go back and play it today.
The environments look cool, although they don't even ATTEMPT to hold a candle to the film. Lots of grey, washed out colours (a problem in most games of that time to be fair, it was, for some reason, the style of the time) where the film put the vibrant colours of Pandora front and centre, those floating islands in the film were bright green and had all kinds of vines and flowers and stuff growing on them with all kinds of colours.
This game was AWESOME in my opinion. They really needa bring a game with the 3 different playable faction types back. Rda human-rda avatar- and the naavi

As a huge fan of the movie, I was initially skeptical about the game, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it captured the essence of Pandora and its immersive environment. The attention to detail is outstanding, and the gameplay mechanics are way more enjoyable than I expected. Having completed the game, I can confidently say that it truly is an underrated gem. used to play this game a lot in school, my friend had a copy of this game and we'd take turns to share it amongst us. but once the teacher caught us with the game with the case and she took it and kept it in the table. games weren't allowed in my school. i was sitting quite nearer to the teacher's table where the box was kept and I took out the game disk from the cover and she didn't notice it. I still have the disk till this day

After Avatar was in the cinema, they had a Xbox 360 there with the game on it. I though it was surprisingly fun! Never bought the game or checked it out, but it was still pretty cool.
Can't believe the absolute best this game looks is the night cycle but each level resets the timer and you have to muck around for 2 hours before it kicks in
