Husqvarna 365 Felling Pine Trees With Help - Pulling Trees With Ropes
One of the best things you can do to help that coat, and yourself, would be to add a splash of pine tar to the mix. Once called Stockholm Tar, pine tar was used by sailors of ol' to keep their ships afloat and is a wonderful preservative for organic materials. Not only does it waterproof the material, but it smells fantastic. That's how British sailors got the nickname 'Jack Tars'. Around the homestead, you'll have no better friend than a pint of pine tar. Great for tool handles and as a poultice for the skin. And did I mention that it repels bugs? Yep. You'll not find borers in wood that's been kept lively and happy with regular applications of pine tar! It really is too bad that folks throughout the UK have forgotten this bit of their culture and tradition.
Brilliant thanks buddy
I use Barbour wax on mine, worked perfectly! Really soaks into the material!
Soft wax is next on my list
Great video but I would like to suggest a modification. Melt down about a pound of wax and add in about 2oz of pure tung oil, 8oz of mineral spirits and 6oz of tung oil finish. mix that in with the wax, which will create an emulsion. Brush that onto the coat and hit it with a hair dryer or heat gun. The oil will help the wax flow into the fabric and it will darken it a touch and wont look so bleach/blotchy. Get a stiff bristle brush and give the coat a scrubbing afterward, which will help walk the excess wax off the coat. Take the left over and put it in a jar for storage. You can heat it up later and re-apply or treat other garments later.
Nice , cheers buddy
Awesome work, just did this to my carhartt jacket. I used a heat gun from about a foot away and that was a huge upgrade over my Lady's dyson hair dryer. I used the the method of "the lone woodman" simplified by "the hidden homestead" great method!
Excellent stuff, hope it works out for you
@@WoolysWorld I'll know in a few days that's for sure. Take care.
@@thalegacy6 you too
Thanks for uploading, love the ol' Carhartt gear especially Detroit jacket. Have the same thing going on chain saw and jackets - all goes together and looks cool as...
Nice one buddy
I have a pair of Carharrt dungarees- not that common in Ire/UK, but really really good. Recommend them. Interesting waxing method - I have never seen it before. I used to use the hairdryer method, but spoke to a Fjallraven rep who said ironing on the wax gives the best results. I have to say he was right. Don’t know why, but it was way more waterproof than the hairdryer method. Great content keep it coming.
Cool , I've seen that. Think it's the iron warms the clothes and helps the wax melt in better
Mix it with turpentine or thinner to make it plyabl,And it soaks into fabric, seen it in another channel Bo❤💯
Nice
Do you buy all your Carhartt stuff online or is there anywhere local that you go in and buy Carhartt stuff? I'm in Ireland and there are a few places that have Carhartt WIP stuff but not a great selection of the standard Carhartt workwear.
Everything online, I've yet to see carhartt in a shop here
Even when the wax wears down and it is not 100% water proof it still adds a huge boost to the durability of the canvas .
I just order the new updated deteoit jacket in small black ,can't wait to wear it . I'm curious if a how good a canvas tarp would hold .
That's a great point and idea???
let me know how the size is for a small is, I'm 5"3 and so far the only thing that fits me for their jackets is the Carhartt j130 sandstone duck active jacket (which they discontinued) the updated version sucks ass.
I will , I'm 5'9 150lbs slim ,
I'm 5, 7 for reference, mine is a small
I'll say that if you layer underneath the shell repels moisture and keeps underlayer/s dry
Plus the blanket lining provides a little warmth in itself
In my experience
It worked well but it didn't look the best, I've never got it exactly how I want it
Very cool! Bruno needs a Carhartt dog vest!!
He sure does
Das ist eine coole Jacke. Und ein Top Video. Waxed Top. Grüße aus Deutschland
Was these once carhartt brown and bleached by the sun and washing or is this another color?
Carhart brown I think, I bought it second hand
Is this J01 model?
Sorry buddy I don't know
Hey, a Zepplin fan I see. Bands like that just don’t seem to exist these days
Yep, agreed , nothing like the greats around anymore, Wolf mother came close but we're they just copying led?
Great video! What sort of wax did you use?
I used Greenland wax, faljraven brand
Did the wax melt through the blanket liner at all? Trying to find my beat old J97 to wax.
Not at all, if anything it could have taken more wax
@@WoolysWorld Great! Thank you for the reply. This was exactly what I was hoping to hear. Now to find that old Jacket and give it a new lease on life.
Go for it, I was just making it up as I went along
@@WoolysWorld I shall follow in your footsteps and also film it!
@@jeffgrantMEDIA nice one
Quelqu'un qui travaille le bois, qui aime les vestes Carhartt et Led Zep, ne peut pas être une mauvaise personne.
Sorry buddy I don't understand

Mine is a small
@@WoolysWorld And how big are you?
@@Gieszkanne I'm 5 ft 7 and size 38 inch chest
