    To the nice folks at Microsoft Mechanics, thank you so much for responding to comments with clear concise answers. It is extremely helpful to be able to compile comments into a knowledge base as you are learning how to best make use of a new technology.

    Teams can be archived and if only Channels could be archived. We work on various monthly items (subjects) such as a monthly news magazine and when one is complete, we would live to be able to archive that Channel only

    The transcription for video feature sounds incredible, can you also view the entire transcript? That way you could scroll through to decide if you need to see the video.

    • @MSFTMechanics

      Yes. The transcript is there in written form and also searchable, so you can look for your name or project/program name to get to what matters to you quickly.

    For the love of all this is good in the Universe...please make it easier to retrieve Chat threads from many months ago. Using the search bar at the top is not very efficient...it tends to retrieve just one Chat item and not the surrounding thread...and when you are searching by date range you are left helpless.

    Love Teams! What I would like is a summary view of all changes in the Teams/Channels I'm in. Similar to Slack's "All Unreads". Also the Planner needs to get to the next level to be as useful as ASANA.

    I have downloaded Teams but I cannot see the calls, files icons on the left side. I cannot add a contact either.Why is this?

    • @MSFTMechanics
      @MSFTMechanics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what services you have behind Teams. If it's part of an Office 365 subscription, the files view is pointing to your most recent files in OneDrive or SharePoint and Calls will let you look up other colleagues for calling. If you have these services, then your IT department may have disabled these controls; that is also configurable in the Teams admin center.

    I watched another video this morning that said when you schedule a meeting in Teams, this doesn't sync with Outlook. Those invited will not get a notification that a meeting has been scheduled. Is this correct?

    • @MSFTMechanics
      @MSFTMechanics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s not correct, the meetings are technically tied closer to the email service and visible in both Outlook and Teams

    • @MSFTMechanics
      @MSFTMechanics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, they are called Private Channels in Teams, but are essentially sub-channels (like rooms) within the main Team. Each Private Channel is limited to just those specifically invited.

    • @MSFTMechanics

      Yes. External team members from different domains are permitted and the setting is actually enabled by default, but you can govern the rules for external team members and access to files or other resources.

    • @MSFTMechanics

      Both options are great, but you do get a bit more functionality by installing the app to your PC. Uploading and sharing files works both for web and the local app.

      "Meetings" is now "Calendar" - that change was made in the interface a few weeks after the we filmed this show. If you don't have Calendar, then it's possible your admin has configured a coexistence mode so your meetings get directed to Skype for Business.

    i cannot find planner and power BI in my app. what app should i use to manage my project?

    • @MSFTMechanics
      @MSFTMechanics  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your admin can control which apps are exposed and remove those. Did you creating a new tab in a Teams channel and not see these options, or just wondering why those aren't there in every team? You do need to add them manually in this case.
