While you might occasionally bounce off, you still deal a ton of damage, so the Shredder is capable of annihilating everything in the game in a matter of seconds. Fun!
There's also one outside of the Federal Ration Stockpile and one in the Fiddler's Green Trailer Estates, both of those are on the way to Vault 81 if you head straight south from Red Rocket. Quick three FCs early game, and there's a spare set of incomplete power armor at the Trailer Estates.
Fun fact. This was one of my first ever F4 builds. I called it the chainsaw build. With mirelurks the best was was to strike when they try to and look down, you want to hit their legs. Crippling them gave them a new walking animation where you could actively hurt them a lot faster.
This entire time, since release, I thought the shredder was just a glorified mini gun bayonet for smacking people. I never used it and now feel silly. No wonder the chainsaw wasn't in the game. We already had one.

Honestly, a fun breeze-through like this is always fun once in a while. Being an indestructible god of death can be great fun, especially if you shred your way through something that previously gave you trouble.

The thing is u havent maximized it yet i guess. The thing is that most percentage based Buffs dont work but the yao guai whatever. Its strength that increases dmg and the Power armor. Ive Done that stuff in both fo4 and fo76.

7 years ago when this game came out I was so bummed by the fact I couldn't use the shredder mod in a spinning attack and that it only was usable to bash with. I only now today found out that you can actually spin it
I've got an idea I don't think I've seen. Can you beat Fallout 4 as a Scavenger. Rules are you can only loot already dead bodies, like the drifter at the end of the bridge in Sanctuary. Anything killed by NPCs are fair game. Bodies killed by you cannot be looted. Skeletons that have a weapon or a container near them are allowed to be looted.
The real challenge there is getting it to run without crashing every few minutes. Although Nerbit does have an Xbox and a means to record it, so that would actually probably work pretty well since by the sounds of it that’s the most stable version these days

Fun fact: legendary effects that can spawn on both melee and ranged weapons (so not two-shot or explosive) can affect the shredder. And the accelerated barrel makes it spin faster visually, but I'm not sure if it actually tick damage faster.
Barrel speed upgrades only function towards bullets and have no effect on the shredder which is capped at 20 hits per second in 1st person and 25 hits per second in 3rd person
Can we all agree after the crime against humanity that the gamma gun run was, the pure elation in Nerbit’s laughs as he scaled greentech was refreshing
Accelerated barrel increase speed, strength increase damage, Better Critical add damage to the crit, and overdrive increase the bash crit from 15% to 40%. Just think of how well it worked the way you did it, and multiply it a few times with the added bonuses.
Considering the general inconsistencies in the game, I'm not surprised if that is the case. A minigun in itself has no spin up time either, but this is what happens when people who have no insight into guns make guns in games.

That being said, I have a dumb joke challenge idea: "Can you play Fallout 76 without experiencing Buyer's Remorse?" I doubt it'll even be possible, considering how much of a junkyard fire the game (and the drama surrounding said game). Another idea is: "Can you beat Fallout (pick any) while pennyless?" (cannot earn/spend Bottle Caps, including selling equipment for Caps)
I never used the minigun until a friend gave me a Vampire's one in 76, and it's my absolute favorite thing. Big heckin chainsaw. Most fun I've ever had with a Fallout weapon. super fun to watch you work with it!

You could also try to cause as much chaos as possible in order to fit the video title in less literal ways

@@sirkelendor5429 yup, over on manaan and it's the absolute worst part about the game. Extremely slow movement and no weapons aside from an upgrade you can get for your suit to fight off the sharks.
@@drunkwendigo2693 and even at that it instantly kills the sharks and turns what could have been a difficult section into a stinking waste of time. At least force powers could have been cool underwater, at least then dark side could have had an easier time while light side struggled a bit there.

@@rosieeeeeeeeeeeee 5mm is very easy to craft lots of in my experience. I exclusively used a vampire explosive mini for a long time, until i got a vampire explosive laser gun. Never had trouble with ammo. Plus it weighs almost nothing compared to how much damage you can deal, relative to other weps. With the ammo reduction perk card, 10k 5mm rounds is 1 weight unit.
For the exp in sanctuary, I find it easier to use metal and wood shelves because they just stack on top of each other and you don’t have to worry about placement of say fences at all.
A let's player (quite possibly many a true nerd) spent a significant portion of an episode of a melee run using the shredder. I'm so glad you covered this, it doesn't get less hilarious with time. :D
I've put probably close to a thousand hours into this game and I never realized you could use the shredder like a ripper. I always just thought you poked enemies with it and it was useless

I love how the metal gear references used to be like little and abit hard to notice if you weren't a die hard fan but now MGRR has come back into popularity Nerbit is just letting em rip.
I don't know how well known this is, but if you have 10 in a stat and then get a debuff to it and use the book you can raise it to 11. Don't really know if that would come in handy for you, but it's something to know. 👍
Does that work with the bobblehead to give you 12? As a side note, I know on PC you can mess with the game all you like, but there's something satisfying about doing it with only experience and tools the game gives you.

This shredder trick works in 76 too, makes the earlier parts of the game incredibly easy even if you dont have any melee perks(if you manage to get one, that is)
I've never, EVER, used a mini gun regularly in any playthrough as it's just a completely useless weapon past level 10. Thus I had no idea that this weapon mod is actually decent despite my 20+ playthroughs 😅
Hey Nerbit, I love your videos. I have an idea for a 'Can you beat' video. The idea is 'Can you beat Fallout 3 or New Vegas as an animal whisperer?' The idea is that you have to use the animal friend perk and only animals can help you in battle.
Shredder (in my opinion) is the most over powered weapon in the game. 1. It doubles the damage with max gun bashing perk. 2. It gets affected by the big guns perk, also making it deal more damage. 3. It’s really fun to use because you can either A, run up to enemies killing them extremely fast, or B, get ammunition for the actual mini gun component and kill enemies from a far.
He tricked us, this isn't a "can you beat". This is a "how fun can it be" run

If you wear a radiation suit, it almost completely negates damage, 'cause the gamma gun is all radiation damage and very little ballistic damage.
It's been almost 7 years since I've owned FO4 and never have I known that the shredder worked like that. I just thought that it made bashing better

U can just default bash them to death bc u dont get staggered by them blocking if u time it right
Careful fully crippling mirelurks, sometimes it causes them to sorta lean forward and you’ll just hit the shell

Unless you allow and have a companion killing Kellog, it's not doable as you have to loot Kellog.
If you set exceptions for quest, then it's Ok.
Better yet as a scavenger you cannot kill on your own. Ymfah did it pacifist before but this might add a different edge

Yes. Also the only Buffs that work besides the yao guai whatever are the strength based ones. Ive played that stuff for ages

No joke, I used to use it to kill sheepsquatches, but stopped when I got a Bloody Explosive flamer (that and it broke too fast imo)
I’ve had a furious minigun in my inventory for months and I never used it because 5mm ammo runs out so fast, definitely trying this now

3:44 maybe it's because the shredder has a damage cone around it and sometimes the player clips through it when in third person?
For the exp in sanctuary, I find it easier to use metal and wood shelves because they just stack on top of each other and you don’t have to worry about placement of say fences at all.
A let's player (quite possibly many a true nerd) spent a significant portion of an episode of a melee run using the shredder. I'm so glad you covered this, it doesn't get less hilarious with time. :D

I've put probably close to a thousand hours into this game and I never realized you could use the shredder like a ripper. I always just thought you poked enemies with it and it was useless
You can find an army helmet west of sanctuary on top of a barrel right next to a tank. Very useful armor early game.
Once again, the minigun proves to be one of the coolest weapons in every single game it's in.
Been really enjoying these videos. Thanks for making them. Watching them makes me want to fire up the xbox again. Would like to see a grenadier run with grenades only.

I’ve done this challenge before and it’s one of the most fun that u can have while playing fallout 4 and for people who didn’t watch the whole video power armor takes away the ap cost while using the shredder
I love how the metal gear references used to be like little and abit hard to notice if you weren't a die hard fan but now MGRR has come back into popularity Nerbit is just letting em rip.

I don't know how well known this is, but if you have 10 in a stat and then get a debuff to it and use the book you can raise it to 11. Don't really know if that would come in handy for you, but it's something to know. 👍
Does that work with the bobblehead to give you 12?
As a side note, I know on PC you can mess with the game all you like, but there's something satisfying about doing it with only experience and tools the game gives you.
@@robjsmileslate reply but yes, getting 10, debuffing to 9 to book, then bobblehead leaves you with 12. Daytripper lowers your STR

As a latecomer to Fallout 4 I had no idea this weapon exists. This is truly the stuff of demented video game dreams.
You can also beat the hardest difficulty with the shredder in fallout4 as shown by French Tomahawk
Very Hard in F4 gets easy rather quickly and the Shredder is a pretty good makeshift weapon

This shredder trick works in 76 too, makes the earlier parts of the game incredibly easy even if you dont have any melee perks(if you manage to get one, that is)

I've never, EVER, used a mini gun regularly in any playthrough as it's just a completely useless weapon past level 10. Thus I had no idea that this weapon mod is actually decent despite my 20+ playthroughs 😅

Hey Nerbit, I love your videos. I have an idea for a 'Can you beat' video. The idea is 'Can you beat Fallout 3 or New Vegas as an animal whisperer?' The idea is that you have to use the animal friend perk and only animals can help you in battle.

Shredder (in my opinion) is the most over powered weapon in the game. 1. It doubles the damage with max gun bashing perk. 2. It gets affected by the big guns perk, also making it deal more damage. 3. It’s really fun to use because you can either A, run up to enemies killing them extremely fast, or B, get ammunition for the actual mini gun component and kill enemies from a far.
