One of favorite my songs ever. I will never, for the life of me, understand how Americans at large are so unappreciative of the Hip's incredible music and one of the most gifted front men to ever grace a stage. I've seen them a half dozen times and that final tour ripped my heart out.
I had tickets to this one and had to miss as My Mom passed away suddenly the day before. Just remembered when I saw the date. Here's to ya mom. Miss you.
I feel the same I have not been able to watch the last concert in in Kingston bits and pieces but not the hole show . Will one day but I'm sure it will make me cry long live the hip love them guys 😁l
OMGordie! I'm not Canadian, I'm an aussie but this song means so much to me right now. My parents have been married for 55 years and they are my everything. My mum has dementia and my dad is her primary carer. She has delusional outbursts and thinks that my dad has stolen her money and she gets really confrontational with him. My dad rang me today in tears asking me to come over and help him out because he can't deal with this on his own... This song xx00
Such a heartbreaking loss. I'm so thankful I got to see them in Vancouver on their final tour. I've been listening to The Hip non-stop for the last few days. Much love to my friends North of the border. He was a national treasure.
11 live shows over 14 years from the West-East coast of Canada. I cherish the fond memories, Loved to watch the mic stand dancing. Things are not the same but I play that serenading voice on repeat and it gets me through life. Rest early by brother-see you on the flip side . Much love 🫶🏻
thats what i love about the Hip.ZERO LIP SYNC. puts their all EVERYTIME. even on their last tour, never in his life had teleprompters, but his last tour he needed 6 of them and read almost every line and still did it better then most. never will there be a better frontman(not to say none as good, just none better)
The first band my nephew ever danced to... he's 24 now. He couldn't even walk, but he would crawl along, stop, bounce his little bum around, stand up, steady himself with the coffee table, big grins, and bounce around some more. He LOVED the Hip!
you cant get a better front man then Gord. not to say others arent good, just cant get better. and lip sync is not an option with these guys. the sound of the Hip with play forever
aww Gord. we've lost a lot of luminaries these past few years but your the one that bothers me most. Rest easy Mr Downie. Maybe we'll find someone to pick up the torch...maybe not
We all miss you so much Gord, we haven’t seen a thing and we’re still not sure where it is. Long live the hip. My fav live Hip video on here , thank you uploader and thank you syracuse
2021 summer comment - pumped I stumbled across this one. Always loved the song but to see Gord pour it out like that had me ‘a weepy little thing’. That’ll be watched again.
I been a long time Hip fan and this was always my favorite song. When I met my now husband who happens to be from Mexico, he fell in love with the hip too. Best memory; sitting in a bar in Acapulco, Mexico and hes requests this ❤ I husband him up right away lol #longlivegord
I am just seeing this for the first time in all these years of knowing you guys. A little dumbfounded right now. Also just realizing i saw my very first concert at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse NY in 1979/80 Judas Preist and Iron Maiden...too funny and so ironic really. Wow...does time fly and the times we all had.Thank You So Much!
Does your mother tell you things? Long, long when I'm gone? Who you talking to? Is she telling you I'm the one? It's a grave mistake and I'm wide awake. Drive-in's rained out Weatherman wet-fingers the sky He pokes it out, he pulls it in He don't know why It's the same mistake It's been a long time running It's been a long time running It's well worth the wait We don't go anywhere Just on trips We haven't seen a thing We still don't know where it is It's a safe mistake It's been a long time running It's been a long time running Well, well it's all the same mistake Dead to rights and wide awake I'll drop a caribou, I'll tell on you I'll tell on you, I'll tell on you You've got a boat-load of nerve But I would say you've been told You work me against my friends And you'll get left out in the cold It's the same mistake It's been a long time running It's been a long time coming It's been a long, long, long time running It's well worth the wait It's well worth the wait It's well worth the wait It's well worth the wait Songwriters: GORDON DOWNIE, GORDON SINCLAIR, JOHNNY FAY, PAUL LANGLOIS, ROBERT BAKER
This was just a year after I moved to San Diego 9/2008. Is this the Landmark in SYR? Same place I saw them in the 90s when they released Day For Night. I remember Nautical Disaster and how the crowd sang the lines of the song..."I had this dream, where I relished, the fray..." The Canadian flags hanging from the balcony. The Hockey jerseys with "The Hip" on them and how I met my girlfriend that night...hi Michelle. Some of the best times of my life. I have been listening to the Hip since their first CD (Yes I own it...taking bids now, it's in mint condition too) lol I bought it in a little record shop in A Bay NY above Skiffs bar, I was in my early 20s then...51 now. Good times that I will never forget and the Hip wrote the soundtrack to my life back then. Thanks Gord and Co for all of the memories in A Bay, Syracuse and of course Ktown (AJs and Stages etc.) and all of the long drives along the 401 to see you live and of course the "Kingston Ballet". Those who know...know. :) It has definitely been a Long Time Running but well worth the wait.

How The Hip did not become world-famous escapes me. They were a GREAT band! So much better than the shit out there today!
Wait for it
OMG! What a great voice! Silenced far too soon.
Boy has this song ever come to mean so much more in recent years. It used to be a nice relaxing tune with stirring undertones, now it's heartbreaking.
I had tickets to this one and had to miss as My Mom passed away suddenly the day before. Just remembered when I saw the date. Here's to ya mom. Miss you.
So sorry about your mom. Bless her heart.

I was there in the front row with a Charlie Brown t-shirt on. They threw me a pic. That was so much fun. I miss those days so much.

Saw them twice and got my dad tickets for his 60th birthday.... Glad to have been a part of it... Thanks for the trip Gord RIP

My daughter is only 5. But if she ever gets married, we will dance to this song at her wedding. . . .
god hes awesome to watch
best front man ever
heart broken
Smiling and feeling chills at the same time....purely epic, tragically hip,
Gordon performs like a guy singing karaoke at his office Christmas party.
Excellent observation.
He Was Every Man just with extra pinache'
This song has that kind of easy feel to it. But also profound and moving. Quite a remarkable song.
@@bobbackwards9270 I agree totally! Oh, and what is pinache? Like balls?
Dang, I miss this guy. What a gem.
thank you Gord!
One of my fave songs
Under appreciated.
And Over Opiated .

Fuckin incredible!!!
Who would have thought a bunch of white guys from Kingston could play the blues so well.
This isn't the blues and they dont play the blues.
@@Johnnywhamo this is a very bluesy song, a lot of their songs are heavily influenced by the blues.
@@mikec81 ......lol...um no they weren't. You're obviously not familiar with blues phrasing.

best live performance of this song? i think so....just the sweat alone
