  • MY NEW MOTORCYCLE LIFT... My wife surprised me on a tool I’ve wanted for a very long time a motorcycle lift! To some the Harbor Freight lift is a cheap lift that shouldn't be taken seriously. I on the other hand can tell you otherwise that this lift has everything to offer and more. In this video, I go over on my first impressions on the lift and highlight the features! Hopefully this helps anyone looking to pull the trigger on getting one in their garage!

    Very cool. I have been looking at these for a while now. Even more so after doing my first oil change. Not a fan of having to get that low on the ground anymore. haha Good to see it is a decent lift. 🤘

    Nice ride. Dig the 2 into 1 pipe. I have had a Harbor Freight for many years. Still working like a charm. Yes, the front wheel vice is a pain. Subscribed, liked.

      A couple of modifications I've made is to weld the removable rear plate into place. I needed it to be solid to mount my frame jig to the platform. Also mounted better wheels in a wider stance to roll it around my garage without fear of it tipping over.
      From another of your videos. I'll take your advice on mounting a 'roll-into' front wheel vise. Harbor Freight has them for $69 last time I checked.
      Shiny side up, bro.

    Have the same table but had to make an extended wheel stop up front. Work on nothing but big tour bikes, and the standard stop puts the center stand on the drop-out panel. I don't use the clamp at all, it's just in the way. Roll on, sidestand, then ratchet straps.
    Table itself is awesome & has taken a beating w/o a problem for years. One fallacy is the stop bar for locking it, unless they've changed it. Comes with a cheap tubing rod, I replaced that with solid steel. Recommend you do the same because when the cheap one bends you'll probably have to cut it to get it out.
    Also, you mentioned using a scissor jack under the bike. Don't use the automotive style. get one for bikes like the BlackJack. I destroyed two auto style jacks that way & almost dropped a bike the 2nd time -and the rear wheel was off, would have been a huge mess. .

      I appreciate the feedback and advice! Harbor Freight upgraded the pipe to hold the stand to solid steal and I got a motorcycle scissor lift from Black Widow, I love the setup now. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I've been using the harbor freight table for years with no issues. The one thing I did do on day one though, was change out that silly wheel vice for a Condor style locking wheel chock. Makes loading a bike on the table a one man operation. Most times don't even need to strap the bike down ...

      The center stand is one of the many reasons I bought a Guzzi. I now have 3. 2 Cals and a Quota for playing in the dirt. I also have the Central Pneumatics motorcycle lift table from Harbor Freight, (the predecessor to the Pittsburgh) that came with the air/ hydraulic jack. After about 12 years of frequent use, the pneumatic pump gave out and I manually pumped it up for about a year. I eventually converted it to a hydraulic cylinder powered by an electric pump. It was a good lift. Now it's a great lift. I'm in the process of converting my other HF lift.

    I've had mine for years, i keep my kz 1000 on it 24,7 but it handles my road king just fine, the biggest problem it's got is when I drive my bikes on it you don't have a platform to step down from it or wide enough for your kickstand until you can strap it but its alright

    • @freebirdsgarage
      @freebirdsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Put a cinderblock next to the table where your sidestand comes down. The height works, it's strong enough, also gives you a place to put your foot while dismounting. Once strapped, move the block.

      I tie the bike in the back with 6 tie downs. 2 to keep the bike upright, 2 pulling the bike forward, and 2 pulling the bike backward. That way the bike can't roll in either direction. Then I jack the front of the bike up to service the front end.
