    Bravo! Finally the missing piece! The rocking step.

    • @richardj6593
      @richardj6593 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without the rock it is hard to get enough power to get the ball over the net without using forearm. That is why so many people use their arm or have little spin on the serve. Amazing only you picked up on this in all the videos done on this serve.

    thank you! I try to learn the reverse pendulum right now. I guess it's helpful to learn one step before: The brushing of the ball with the unused, new motion.
    But I will try the rocking motion at the beginning and I will look out for a nice box between my arm and my bat.
    Looking forward to seeing your next video!

    and now try to hit the ball nearly on edge to add more momentum and rotation. then try contact the ball more to handle to do a nonspin serve... Then try to use a little bit more elbow to achieve even more whipping movement . Then you are there with crazy spin serve ....keep them coming .

    This is a pretty nice tutorial and I like how it's broken down. The key thing for me was the instruction on how to hold the paddle. You didn't go over much but you said 1 key detail: make sure the handle can get over the wrist. For me this has always been a challenge of what I'm trying to do with the wrist and you explained it very simply and it really helped. I'm much closer to having this serve now with this tutorial.

    Excellent tutorial. I've been playing for 20 years at clubs and have a reverse pendulum serve. I find that I have difficulty serving long and fast. Short serves are easier but I can not generate enough speed for it to go longer like timo boll who is my favorite. Unless I change to a faster and heavier setup. Thanks.

    Hi Matt, really enjoyed your videos. very thorough. Please can you include a second part of spin variation for the reverse pendulum serves. Also can you do a summary video for deceptions and most effective serves. Maybe also you can tie it with a third ball attack/ opener video?

    What a great video, thanks for explaining the leaning motion, never thought of that before.
    I struggle to understand how to put topspin on both normal pendulum, reverse pendulum and backhand pendulum - If you could make a video explaining how to impart the topspin , I would be so grateful. Thanks!
    I finally have learned to do topspin on normal pendulum, but I end up contacting the ball on the back of the ball, and not the side, which makes it much easier to see.

    Hi, great tutorial, thank you very much!
    Could you please add some advice on where the ball should lend on your half of the table to make the serve more effective?
    Should it be close to the edge, in the middle, 2/3, close to the net?

    • @MHTableTennis
      @MHTableTennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on length, if you are serving short then it's always good to try and get the first bounce closer to the net on your side :)

    Thanks. This is one way to do it, but this method kinda makes it so that you have to contact the ball slightly below, and not fully on the side like fan zhendong does it. I just slightly rotate into the ball and use my arm as a whip ending with my hand snapping at the contact with the ball. I am not able to do it very consistently yet though, but my fast hand movement confuses my opponents still. Watch matches on my channel and you might catch how I do it.

      The idea is to simplify it as much as possible so people can learn and develop an action from scratch in 3 steps, this is more similar to someone like Timo who has a much more compact and simplified action - it’s easier to learn.

    • @MHTableTennis
      @MHTableTennis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I spent three weeks inside closed training with the Chinese National Team so I’m fairly familiar with Fan Zhendong and his serves lol

    is the reverse pendulum an important serve to have in one's arsenal (that's better in some ways than a normal pendulum?) or is it a niche serve used mostly by top players only? (if so, why?). i'm wondering because it seems like such a difficult serve to get good at w/ odd wrist mechanics. is it really that great of a serve?

    • @MHTableTennis
      @MHTableTennis  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it’s good to have if you want a higher level of serve, I find it’s harder to read than normal pendulum serves and it’s also good to have serves which move in opposite directions. If one player receives pendulum serves better then you can switch to reverse. In terms of direction I would favour this significantly over a backhand serve which is usually more simple. It's challenging to develop but the payoff can be excellent.

    Are you allowed to toss the ball towards your body?

    • @MHTableTennis
      @MHTableTennis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      according to the ITTF rules the ball toss has to be angled 'close to vertical' so in that sense no you can't throw towards your body

      @@dan43544911 yes, if you look at Ovtcharov's tomohawk serve ball toss it goes about half a table width across, but because the toss is so high it is allowed - because the angle is still 'near-vertical'
