I don't think I appreciated how powerful this movie was when I was younger. Only now, after a lot of living and learning can I truly appreciate this movie for the epic that it is.
Teresa V timeless romantic drama, the silent love story that penetrates your heart and leaves breathless. A monumental picture of all times still mesmerize to awaken my heart and long for more...thank you truly
Yes I've seen this movie when we first time have cable TV in 1981 in San Francisco California and i was 13 yrs old.. I didn't understand it because I was too young but now I feel I understand it partially because of the politics involved in the story its a little confusing.
I grew up with music like this. As well as the music from "Midnight Cowboy!". My father bought popular LP records and played them to us. I miss the 60s and the wonderful (for me) growing up.
I saw the movie in the cinema in the 70th synchronized into German --- it was fantastic because of the screams size and the sound all over the cinema hall --- love from Sweden
I remember seeing this movie as an 11 year old in 1966. Being of Slavic descent and listening to the old timers’ stories made me familiar with what I was watching. The five year period from 1917 to 1922 was profoundly cataclysmic to Russia-then later to the entire world. But no matter how dire the circumstance-love can still find a way…
Disasters and zombies!!! I'd imagine zombies are a disaster 🧟♂️ 🧟♀️. I certainly wouldn't want to share my bigmac meal with one. Watch train to busan it's highly entertaining. I'm not the greatest fan of Doctor zhivago but I do love the bogart and bacall film noir movies key largo is a gem.
I saw this film in my intro to film class 2013 senior year of high school. I fell in love with everything it encapsulates. They always tell you how motion pictures felt like such spectacles back then and I believe it. To have been there, to sit through the overture in a theatre movie stars went to and just take everything in would have been amazing. Im not saying we don’t have wonderful films now, we do. It’s just there’s something so romantic about movies like this
Thrice in asking before I can appreciate this superb romance movie in its full splendour. First in 1977, my teachers and Form 6 classmates were singing praises of it during its round in the local theatres. Inexplicably, how could it happen that I missed the show then. In 1983, when video cassette players were popular in many households, I rented a VHS tape to view the movie. The small TV screen and the poor quality tape doused any spectacular visual scenes and muffled any sweeping sound effects. As good as not watching it. Third was in 2022, the golden chance to relive watching this saga movie this time on my Full HD TV big screen via Astro Hits Movies channel. The mesmerizing Dr. Zhivago theme music, the breathtaking scenes and intense human drama worked its magic on me at last. A truly great and unforgettable movie to say the least.
I taught at a seminar in Russia in the 90s and I spent time in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod and also in the countryside. And I think to truly understand this film it helps by understanding Russian history and also having spent time in their beautiful country and getting to know many of the beautiful Russian people.
This movies is so beautiful and tragic at the same time, it made me cry a few times. Omar Sharif and Julie Christie. She had such beautiful eyes. This is one of the greats.
The greatest love story ever told and for me the best flim ever made. A David Lean masterpiece. It will never be beaten. Omar and Julie had great chemistry between them plus it had an all star cast. Put simply brilliant
The Bridge On The River Kwai and Lawrence Of Arabia were both very well made films by David Lean so it is hard to really say what the greatest film ever made was.
Just watched Lawrence of Arabia on Dec 2, 2020. And have rewatched it four times since. Absolutely loved it. Looking forward to watch more films starring Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif.. watched The Night of the Generals, today. Its a beautiful film.
I suspect I'm called Yuri because of this movie (got no Russian parentage at all but my mother loved this movie, Russia and had a thing for Omar Sharif...)
Its a masterpiece of unparrelled excellence !!! No movie comes close to this one. Still a very sad one. I dont know if i ll watch it again. But more than A+ for david lean.
My dad loved this movie and took me with him to see it in the theater, we had to have an intermission at that time. I was too young to understand any of it, now that I have seen it later in my life, this movie just encapsulates so much range of depth in story telling, today we have nothing in comparison and that is our great loss.
Doctor Zhivago and David Lean Masterpiece. David Lean English film director, producer, screenwriter and editor. He is distinguished and widely considered one of the most influential directors in 20th century filmed maker of all time. Of course, Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia also is my two favorite movies and I always love to watch.
Awesome,Epic movie watched 1967 1st time. From then on kept watching even in video presently, never get tired of it,love the movie & all the characters, especially Ms.Julie Christi( never her beauty, attractive eyes fade away thru her 82 yrs. ❤old😍🇺🇸🇬🇧🎬
For what it's worth, Doctor Zhivago won 5 Academy Awards, not 6, as the trailers narrator mistakenly says. Adjusted for inflation this is one of the 10 highest grossing movies ever made! Another total triumph for Director David Lean, Cinematographer Freddie Young and Composer Maurice Jarre.
One of the greatest love novels/films I’ve ever watched and read, it’s extraordinary and brings out so many emotions I have not seen in a long time. The ending especially breaks my heart seeing him die trying to run to the love of his life. I just like to imagine what would have happened if they had met the first time they saw each other back on that train in Moscow all the way at the beginning.
Read the book. Now going to do the film. The book was banned in Soviet Russia. It won a Nobel Prize. Pasternak was going to go to Sweden to accept the prize but thought twice with threats of being expelled and losing everything.
Perfect! Marvellous! Stunning! What can i say. That was superb. Characters were strong , Russian Life was mixed , revolution brought love, poverty, illness, death. You should watch it.
This. This right here. I was born on a cold January morning in 1995, this movie was on. Had no idea till close to hurricane katrina but it affected me all the same.
I enjoyed the book very much, but the images in my mind as I read were far less epic than what this trailer shows. The book seemed quieter and more personal in nature to me. Often I find movies are a visual letdown compared to the book -- but this promises to be much different. I must eventually see it!
Back then this was state of the Art & it captivated everyone. These days it's even hard for those who saw it back then, to sit thru again. That said, Rod Steiger was way way ahead of the acting curve even then. His performance was truly life like, natural, nothing contrived & seamlessly evolving & connected. Alec Guiness was a stand out with both acting & narration. That said the guys & gals of the day swooned over Sharif & Christy & the visuals were all like a series of classic portaraits.
I saw this movie in a theater when it was new, and I was 11 years old, and despite the narrator's high-toned praise of what a monumental motion picture it is, I remember virtually nothing about it, nor that it made any significant impact on me.
I can't get over the frozen house. ❤Awesome. I wonder why the hair stylists of the 60s movies couldn't get the ladies hair right in many great shows then. A big distraction.

As is usually the case, the book is even better.

What do you mean by that. It was one of the greatest events in human history that changed the world for the better
They can't make great epic movies like this now. It's all disasters and zombies now. Julie Christie was absolutely stunning - a goddess!
This trailer made every character seem so awesome with that dramatic narration
That's very sad. I will watch Dune next week. Hoping that it is good.
Yes they can. Even better movies than this.

There's a lot of romantic movies from todays era as well. Keep studying and stay in school, and you will find them.

Spasibo!
I saw the movie in a cinema and the big screen is breathtaking. Impossible to contain tears at the end of the film
❤♥️
You cried in a public cinema HAHAHAHA that is ridiculous it's a film its not real PAHAHAHAHAHA.
The 1960's were the last decade of classic unforgettable epic films in my opinion.
The Godfather I and II beginning in 1972 was amazing and holds the #2 spot behind Zhivago as #1 in my top 5 of all time list.

watched The Night of the Generals, today. Its a beautiful film.
My father said this is where he got my name. I finally know why he used to call me a Russian princess, haha
I named my daughter Lara because of this movie.
I got my name from Omar Sharif
My mother saw this movie at just 11 y o... She fell so much in love with it, that she also decided to give me this name. I was born in 86.

Isnt Doctor Zhivago a villain in Ben 10?
I went with school in 1968 to see this as we were studying Russian history, magnificent film, even now.

What an awesome, excellent movie!
I know there’s lots of great movies out there but Dr Zhivago is the greatest movie ever made for many many reasons
