In todays video I show you how to install the mugen style tail lights from Hirev Sports!
These lights are great quality lights and I have NO negative things to say about them. I highly recommend them to anyone.
As you'll see in the video I went with the clear version of the lights. There is also a smoked version of them if you prefer that style.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video. I want to install these lights but I couldn't find a video that showed this as clearly or as detailed as you. Especially thank you for showing how to route and hide the wires. I'm much more confident now.

I just had to say "Thank you" for posting this video. It really helped me install these tail lights. Especially the part with what to do with the connecting wires. It was way easier to feed them up the interior of the hatch frame instead of the other videos that placed them up and around the frame, leaving the wires hanging down the center. I've had these lights sitting in the box in my room since February. Thank you so much, man. They look amazing!!!
Your very welcome!!!! I thought that other way of running the wires was cheap looking/the lazy way and I didnt like how it pinched the wires in the center. So after staring at the hatch for a long time thinking, i came up with feeding them up the inside of the hatch. I wanted something that looked OEM.
@@MoisesEmpire Definitely, man!! I hear you. Your way is soooo much better and makes the process look a whole lot cleaner and proffessional. I was a bit nervous because I drive a 2021 Hatch and I thought some things weren't going to fit, but thankfully that wasn't the case. I did get the V2 and they made connecting wires a lot thinner so it made feeding them up the frame easier. Good job, man. I really appreciate what you have done.
Oh Yeah i know what u mean about the thin wires. I installed a set if V2 on a friends car

First of all I'm super jealous sedans don't get sweet tail lights like that. Secondly, as soon you went to the cabin and I saw your shifter again I was like a kid in a toy store.....I WANT THAT! haha Your car is looking great!
Lol thanks man! These lights were originally designed for the typeR. Im just lucky that the typeR is also a hatchback so the lights fit perfectly on all the hatchbacks.
Its an awesome shifter. I highly recommend it.

damn them tail lights be fire. i just bought my 2021 sport hatchback on 2/19/2021 and i been looking at which tail lights to get and none of them look as cool as these ones. i am def gonna get them. my car is black also and it would look sick on it. imo. thanks for the review, i will def buy these ones. ill be getting the smoke version most likely.
No problem. I love them, the are 1 of my favorite mods that i have done. It really changes the look of the car a lot.

@@carcez i ended up buying them off Amazon. one seller had them on there for under 300. i jumped at the chance and bought them. installed a few days ago. and they look amazing. i would say try other sites and see what you can find. definitely worth it imo. changes the whole look of the car.

Already installed the tail light so cool for my civic ex 2021 thank you for the video and more power I'm looking to upgrade my rare bumper and looking for a diffuser any tips or idea? Thank you.
Not to many options for the hatchback. U could switch to a sport rear diffuser and re do the exhaust so that its center exhaust. Or u could add a rear diffuser like the one from downforce solutions.
@Moises Empire I have seen the diffusers from downforce solutions and they have multiple options but no pictures 😅

No issues so far. All the lights still work fine and yeah reverse is pretty bright since its LED and i have the clear lense so its even brighter then people with the smoked version.

Thats the brake light. Only turns on when u step on the brake.

Maybe plugged in backwards.
Hey man how did you get the animation to play when just unlocking the car?
It's a feature in the lights that is already there from factory. Newer versions of this light come with a switch to turn it off and on.

There a ton of websites u can get it from. Just google greddy supreme SP exhaust for the 10th gen civic. I got mine through a local performance parts shop.
Which one would u prefer smoke verison or clear ones that are sold out 😭 i cant find clear ones

The top portions of the trunk tail light doesn’t want to light up as I’m connecting the two wires. Any answers?
Not to sure. That wire only goes in one way so it can't be installed backwards. Does the turn signal work on the bigger light?

I checked online and it said these lights are compatible with 2016-2020 civics. Is it true, because I just got a 2021 hatchback in Nov and I saw someone with these lights and I thought these were the sickest set of taillights I've seen.
They will work on the 2021 hatchbacks also. Body is still the same as older models. Their site just isn't updated.

@@MoisesEmpire I really want to get the clear, but they're sold out. So, I think I'm going to order the Med Smoke and hold on to them, then try and get the Clear when they restock. If I don't get the Clear, at least I'll have the Med Smoke.
the back is a sticker or painting I like the design if it's a sticker, where do I get it?
Its vinyl wrap. I made it myself.

Yes. Fits all 10th gen civic hatchbacks.
How did you get that carbon cut out on th wing
The wing came with it.
Yo Umm did the Type-R wing come carbon fiber and painted black? If so u have a link?
Yeah. It comes with carbon fiber inserts for the side fins and I think they do come painted in either black, red, blue, white. They dont come in sonic gray for some reason so I had mine painted by a body shop.

how do i hide the wire, i just installed mine yesterday and left the wire just there cause i couldn’t figure out how to hide the wire into the weather stripping lol

Just got the V1s. Are the brake lights bright enough during the day?
Yes I think so.
If not then may have to buy led’s

Are yours made in China? Cause my jdm mugen tail lights kits is made in China which I bought from eBay. The wires harness setup is a little different from what everyone is getting the jdm mugen tail lights installed on. Or is it just that the automatic Honda Civic Hatchback EX lights wires harness are so different from the manual Honda Civic Hatchback EX or Civic Type R? Are there any difference between The both of them in plug and play wires setup from the assembly line at Honda manufacturer company?
Mine are made here in America and fit all 10th gen hatchbacks no matter the model.
I bought my second new mugen tail lights assembly from Amazon and couldn't get them sequential lights to start up the sequence lights animation to come on when I unlock the car doors. I plugged in all the colors correctly. Or did the colors I plug into are backwards? Wait does the automatic transmission and manual transmission Civic model have different factory lights assembly harnesses installed? Have you try remote locking and unlocking the car to see the sequence lights animation start up?
@@asianhotboyxeng go on hirevsports website and look at the lights description. The animation is a feature that can be turned on and off so maybe it is just turned off. The website tells you how to turn it on and off.

These are the V1. The V2 have a different shape to the lights.

I was in the same situation when i was buying mine. Im not a fan of smoked one tho, so I just waited till they had more clears.

@@Hunter-vb2kj I paid like 350 cuz of holiday deals but yeah I've had 0 problems with them. All bulbs still work perfect, no water or condensation in the lights, no fading and fitment is perfect. Really good quality.

@@MoisesEmpire you have any issues with the turn signal blinking way too fast when installing these? One light works fine and blinks as usual but the other is rapid blinking
Hey, I know you sold the car but how did these hold up in the long run?
Actually really good considering their low price. I never had a problem with them working properly. Just a small plastic part inside one light started to separate and at a certain angle u could see one of the wires. That was probably due to the sun over time tho since my car lived outside 24/7. Other than that they were great! Always worked and were bright and never leaked or faded.

Yes but I think they discontinued the clear ones like mine. Now they only sell the smoked version.

Lol 430 is actually really cheap for tail lights. Especially custom ones with animation like these.
430 is cheap. It ain't t compare to other tail lights like 700-1k
I bought mine from Amazon and everything was working other than the reverse light. I did everything I could to fix it. Any advise?
If you tried plugging the light both ways and still dont work then there is likely something wrong with the light and you might need to get a replacement.
