A 19-year-old girl without any prior professional music background did this. She wrote the lyrics, composed the melody, sang the song in the purest way that humans expected to connect with: no instrument, only the voice alone. It is not only beautiful. it's magic.

That part at 2:53 always makes me tear up. It's like at that very point my scars start to burn and my inner-child starts to cry for help - both because I miss being a child, but also because my childhood was traumatic and terrible.
I'm so sorry. My inner child wants to hold your inner child's hand and maybe hug her if she's ok with that. I feel the same things, and I have a similar dark past that haunts me still, decades later. I hope you are finding some healing. 🌱

Once in a great while there comes one artist who I just cannot say enough nice things about...Aurora is that artist! She has no, "visible", piercings, tattoos and doesn't appear to mark herself up in any manner, which I, personally, admire. She has smashed every single barrier we have a name for, Gender, Age, Nationality, and so on... She seems to draw upon those sentiments and feelings we all, as humans, share and does it gracefully and hauntingly beautiful. There is no other artist on this planet, that I am aware of, who can fill my eyes with tears and make me happy at the same time. When I first discovered her I was taken aback by her child like looks, but now I am comfortable and realized that she is far more than her looks..She is the perfect Woman, as perfect as people can be anyway, She has grace, elegance, style and beauty and her spirit is loving, peaceful, wise and beyond any doubt she is a great human being! When I'm in public, and this song comes up, I always have to skip it, because I start to cry every time I listen to this.
It makes me think of my mother and how much I love her. And while she's in good health and well, sometimes the realization hits, that eventually she'll die too. And this song makes me think of that inevitable one last goodbye.

I don't think that she needs protecting. If you look at her eyes when she sings, they hold pain. Sadness. But wonder as well. She experiences the world, sees the darkness in it. I think she is important because despite that suffering, she chooses to 'see the world through the eyes of a child'. She fights to keep from becoming jaded, to not lose that sense of child like wonder. That's what I see, anyway.
