    I must say this company seems to take care of their customers. I have the slide and had some issues most disliked is the price. However, the other issues were addressed without asking when I left a review. So I say bravo to big idea design.

    Hi!
    I got my TPT Slide on Friday. Bought it from Maxi‘s shop in Hamburg, Germany. The only issue I have is the pocket clip. It is so tight that it is nearly impossible to slide it in your pocket. So I have to remove it. Unfortunately I lost the small steel thing that holds the clip in place… 🙄
    Best regards,
    Claus

    Interesting tools, thx. I was interested in your comment about putting together so much IKEA furniture. I'm 70 years old and, while I lived most of my life before anyone ever thought of IKEA, there certainly were plenty of places to buy cheaply put together new furniture. I decided long ago not to participate in that, and instead bought inexpensive vintage and/or outright antique furniture that did not require assembly, or furniture that may have been slightly worn/damaged from use but could easily be brought back to completely functional condition. This furniture was relatively easy to find, was actually fun to locate and shop for, and in the end gave me furniture that was made of solid very high quality material with architectural appeal and thus real value that increased over time. As a result, I now have a serious investment in furniture that is solid cherry, walnut, birdseye maple, oak, etc, and there isn't a piece of veneer or particle board in the whole lot. This was an extremely wise decision on many levels. I have made money re-selling many such pieces, and it is still possible with a little looking around to do the same thing today. Or.....a person could go to IKEA and not get half what they paid for the furniture at a garage sale the next day. ;-)

    • @haluter

      I own one, and the Fisher space pen cartridge is easily the worst I've ever used.

    • @sc400gilliland
      @sc400gilliland 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@haluter I used one while working in a prison we often had suicide watch sheets hanging on the wall beside the cells, a regular pen would stop writing after a few letters maybe a few words and I'd have to shake the pen to try and get it to write again, I bought the Fisher space pen and it never let me down I loved that pen. As of right now I carry a true utility telescoping pen on my keychain and it works great for what I need it for it was only about $12 all I'm saying is it doesn't have to be expensive to function. Maybe for some it's great but $100 for a pen that will probably be stolen by some unsuspecting person who thinks it came from officmax....I'm out

    • @brandonnavarre3360
      @brandonnavarre3360 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I respect their company as they clearly produce some great products, but i agree that i couldn't justify putting that much into a pen im going to carry alot. easily lost, stolen etc.

    • @m00nstalkeriphone
      @m00nstalkeriphone 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You could also buy a Bic (or a hundred), that will most likely give you the most functionality for your money. That argument can be made in absurdum, but that's not why people buy things like this. It's about accessorizing, joy of ownership, special albeit fringe functionality, design etc. There's far more value in a pen like that or a Rothco or a Parker or whatever it might be.

    • @haluter
      @haluter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    @toby8503 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the big ideas design utility blade holder is rubbish. i own one and the design is great, it's why i bought it... theres just one huge problem with it... the blade scrapes on the titanium body, dulling it each time it is deployed... making it next to useless. how did such a huge design flaw evade them when they were testing it? really disappointed, especially for the price. 2/10
    having said that i do think big ideas design is a wonderful company and they look after their customers well.

    The prices are ridiculous

    • @m00nstalkeriphone
      @m00nstalkeriphone 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are not. What people doesn't seem to understand that behind this $69 tool there's hundreds of thousands of equipment, many man hours in design, prototyping and so on. In addition to that this is a niche market with a limited production. Without the "ridiculous" price tag they wouldn't even exist, since it would be impossible to make them without taking a loss. I'm willing to bet they don't make more than $10-15 per unit in the end. That's not a lot.

    • @m00nstalkeriphone
      @m00nstalkeriphone 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bushcraftnorway I don't have a $100 pen. But no, I don't see it as unreasonable given that you are not exactly paying for "a pen". You pay for the design, the materials, the work that has gone into it. And no, I'm not retarded or rude, unlike some people here.

    Unrealistic and overpriced "EDC"
    This is like EDC for rich, corporate wanna be cool nerds

    • @m00nstalkeriphone
      @m00nstalkeriphone 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No one said it was supposed to be budget EDC. Besides, it's hardly unrealistic but everyone makes their own choices depending on their wishes, financial capacity and needs (or "needs", if one wants to be cynical). I don't have kids, I don't have expensive habits, I don't have a car. But I have a TPT Slide, I have a $300 knife in my pocket while I walk to the grocery store, I have "expensive" flashlights, bags and gear. Because it's something I give priority to. I like these things, I like having them and using them. But I could also use a boxcutter from a big box store for $2, that would work too.

    • @samzippo1372
      @samzippo1372 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess you missed the point. He has done multiple videos and what not for this company. I also have a good knife and flashlights, phone, etc. but Titanium-pens, bit bar, wrench, beads, etc. no sorry, show other stuff!

    • @m00nstalkeriphone
      @m00nstalkeriphone 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samzippo1372 Sure, I get that part. I would love to see other content. At the same time Big Idea Design do have very useful and interesting things and he needs to grow his channel, this video shows off their designs as well as help support the channel in a critical phase. If this was the only video this week I would be the first to raise criticism, but as it is an extra feature I don't mind it.
      As for the the other part that is a matter of preference and ultimately it's the preference of the video maker to decide. You decide if you want to watch/be subscribed or not.

    • @trailbrake
      @trailbrake 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh no, EDC for the rich would be something like a David Oscarson pen at $755,000. These are pens for working folks who make a decent income and enjoy using something that is hand made in the USA at a reasonable price.
