Quick update, this changed my singing so much my professor asked how I was doing it, and I brought up tongue depression. He said it was brilliant the change it caused.
I got the course for my son. He's a heavy rock singer so I thought it would be amusing! On the contrary, he said some of the techniques he's learnt have really helped even his hard rock singing.
This helped SO MUCH! I hope this video gets more popular! I immediately heard a change from my voice, it became much clearer, still have to work on breathing from the diaphragm and the scratchiness whenever I sing but this brought a complete difference in my voice! Thanks!
@@loridisney3782 technically whenever I'm afraid of singing....i sound like a dying crow and cannot even sing easy things. But whenever i know no ones hearing me...im not afraid...I can literally hit high notes perfectly. What you're saying is true too tho ofc.

Nici Mouse neutral?? In opera the lowered larynx is crucial for open throat singing. Ya know people didn’t have mics back then so they needed that depth and in the sound so w lowered larynx is necessary.
O Caçador exactly that’s why there’s a million different styles of music now. You don’t have to sing with a lowered larynx, i don’t if im not doing classical. Musical broadways don’t, because they have microphones. Opera is acoustic, so yes you still need it. Don’t try to be a smart ass.
@@loridisney3782 Agree. What i know is high larynx is the most dangerous thing especially if you belt either mid belt or upper belt. Damage your vocal chord like Christina.
For a Tenor the low larynx is a true good technique. But I have never liked the sound it produces for more subtle arias or composers like Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, or even Tosti. But if you want to sing Puccini or Verdi, this technique is really effective for the Dramatic Tenor.
This technique it's useful for everyvoice, even if you're not a Dramatic tenor, but with the composers of begin of XVIIII low larynx doesn't work so well because they usually used another technique.
Wow I learned something here. Your teaching is good! Would you consider bringing your camera closer to you? On video it is nicer to have a close up. You did the close ups on the throat, that was helpful as well. Thank-you.
Excellent, you certainly know how, pull down with the yawn, and do your diaphragm exercises too. My voice coach had a theory that ladies' corsets in the 19th century were to blame for a lot of undeveloped diaphragms. Not sure if there's any truth to that!
Lowering the larynx is a very misleading thing. The larynx needs to be relaxed and not "kept down". The "voice box" still needs a certain freedom of movement when it comes to singing, because it will need to readjust itself according to the pitch of the notes sung. Keeping it in one place will create a "fight" in the throat and prohibit a freedom of tone.
I would suggest get a few voice lessons or join a choir . As a classically trained singer soprano. I stay within my range and High notes come naturally low notes don’t . Even if you’re not a classical singer . a few voice lessons would be so helpful they can teach breathing techniques etc. so you don’t damage your voice and you’ll be singing correctly and it will come more easier and sound better .
Holding it artificially low you end up only being able to sing forte. Also loss of flexibility and brlliance. It not rise. LET it drop, dont hold it down.
So how do you sing if you're inhaling (smelling flowers or yawning)? It keeps going back up if I exhale. to be fair, it's not going much down with his techniques.
I was playing around w my friends and ended up accidentally opera. I did learn singing and play instruments so I ended up doing it properly on key.. but I want to perfect it.. help!!!!
Ya'll just been training for random things like: 1. How to bartend. 2. How to maintain a firearm. 3. How to cook a beef wellington. 4. . . . Just in case you might need them in the future? Right now I'm here for some reason.
Issue though.. is how to keep it down or the level to which it should stay down while you are actually singing! Not sure about that.. would appreciate some commentary.
@@thesovietsage6688 It's very misleading for him to say 'we always wanna keep it down'. If a beginner singer hears this, he/she might engage tongue, jaw and neck to try to keep it down all the time. This could cause tongue/jaw/neck tension which is quite difficult to get rid of once it becomes a habit. In many cases, larynx should be allowed to move freely when singings. Operatic sounds should be achieved through good breathing technique, voice resonance, forward projecting and free moving tongue, jaw and relaxing neck. For me personally larynx is something I worry about only when I need a particular style or tone to come out. Just my personal opinion hope this helps

Guys and girl, drop the silly opera approach. Their vocal exercises force you to sing a melody without a chord compliment which is unnatural. Remember that the chords behind the melody that a voice sings enhance the sound the vocalist make significantly. Take up a guitar, piano, harp or accordian instead and try singing with the chords. Learn folk and popular songs first, especially ones first published before 1950. There are many, many terrible opera singers out there. Do yourself and the world a favour. Aim to sing musically. Opera does not equal music!!

Nice bud! Also remember to not be afraid to hit a high note. That's what mostly causes strain. The fright of messing up. Sing with freedom guys!
What causes the strain is not having proper training and singing outside your vocal range .
