all about 70-75 db just the tone changed, i'm more interested in whether or not accuracy if affected by the barrel. I would assume that only the inner layer's smoothness and sizing is a factor as that's the only thing that touches the ball and by how much..
Id say do this again, but with a slight difference. Change your Db meter to "MAX Hold", fast read setting, and ramp about 15-20 balls per barrel. This will allow your meter to get a much better max average of sound pressure. I would do this a foot from the barrel, then maybe 15ft and 30 ft to see if there's any recordable Db suppressing at range from the port designs.
According to the sample test. No it doesn't matter. I've known this for quite some time. Choose one that looks asthesticsly pleasing to your eye. Tips don't matter. A $40 CP one piece bore .685 will shoot the same as a $200 ul-I with .685 insert. It's a metal tube. Pick one that looks good with your nike.
The meter doesn't even measure continously. It refreshes and measures every couple of tenths of a second. If it measures exactly when the shot happens, you see a much higher DB than when it just misses it. Totally pointless test this way.

That Dye Ul-I is so smooth
Thank you for this. More product performance head to heads. Please!

I would be curious of the sound further away from the muzzle.

Maybe. Maybe redo this indoors?
I would have liked a sound catcher from down field too so we could compare how that sound travels to the opponent

This test is pointless with the dB reader when your base is changing +-15dbs...
What do you mean the base?
