    I have lipedema type 4, am 66 years old and a retired nurse. I started keto/carnivore 2 months ago and have lost 15 pounds so far. I use caster oil on my arms and legs every day after I shower and it has really helped with the swelling. Castor oil is the highest density oil there is, it's so dense it penetrates the skin down into the dermis and is anti-inflammatory. I really think it is helping me shrink my arms and legs so I thought I would pass it on.

      Thank you for sharing.
      I have been applying castor oil but not faithfully.
      Been on carnivore since 1 Feb , so almost 2 months now and have not lost any weight as yet.

      I was on keto and it took 10 months to lose 12 lbs. But low weight loss was not the worst of it. My hair started falling out!
      It is a mystery why keto works like a miracle for most but doesn’t work for everyone.

      @@Kwize652I hope you are aware that Carnivore eating allows the body to do a lot of healing. I lost the non-lipedema type fat (70 #) while on Keto but then stopped losing. I switched to Carnivore and lost some water weight.
      But apparently my body decided it needed to heal many issues first (Kelly Hogan, Carnivore YT, explains this).
      Blood pressure improved remarkably, much more than when on Keto. Dropped from 60 mil Lisinopril to 15.
      Hair thickened, after losing much of it post-CoVid.
      Eyesight improved from 20/60 to 20/30 (no more driving restrictions!).
      Cataracts shrunk and near-vision improved (I can thread a needle now).
      Blood sugar normalized.
      No more edema in my left ankle (the right has not been a problem).
      Serious hip pain (arthritis) reduced greatly and hip flexibility has improved so I can cut toe nails again.
      Icy feet have improved so that I often kick off the sheet at night.
      Constipation gone.
      I can now stand long enough to cook, clean the kitchen and bathroom surfaces. It used to be than 10 minutes was too long to stand. I can wait in lines again, when necessary.
      Arthritic, ankle, knee,and hip pain are close to normal most days.
      Sensory abnormalities in my legs and hands are close to normal (not as severe as if I’d had MS, but serious enough it scared me).
      Post-CoVid Brain fog (over a year of it) reduced so that I was able to recall the day, grocery list, every day needs again, and no longer jumble my sentences when eager to talk.
      Post-Shingles Gut pain, skin numbness, and bowel function + sensation problems (over 3 years earlier of it )returned to normal.
      The list goes on, as I am 75 years old. But I can walk on the beach again for 1-2 miles and swim laps for 20 minutes then follow it with moderate level aquacize.
      I have more healing to do, but I think most of it is related to Lipedema. Previously I had often been unaware of Lipedema pain because it blended with arthritis pain. Now I have distinct awareness of which is which.
      I still need to lose 50# or so, so am frustrated that the weight is not dropping, even though our story is apparently common among Carnivore folks who have Lipedema. It has been a year; it’s tough, despite eating only meat, eggs and butter for one or two meals/day. But I cannot give up and neither can you. The healing is worth it.

    Thank you for your videos What has been the most impactful in your Lipedema journey?
    Has it been diet and exercise?
    If so what exactly did you do?
    I’m trying but it’s not easy
    Got eating on carnivore have been doing keto prior for over a year but not weight loss or change in appearance as yet.
    Try to exercise in between challenges of physical restrictions 🤷🏼‍♀️
    Praying for a consistent good outcome 🙌🏼🌈💕

    Hi, I certainly enjoy your videos. Do you experience pain in any of your areas with Lipedema? Although you have lost a considerable amount of weight and still have the nodules are you concerned about further advancement of the disease?

    • @sturdywoman
      @sturdywoman  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @user-yx1zq7my3n I had pain at the beginning of my journey. Funnily, I didn't think of it as pain until it went away when I started compression and keto! I do still have some tenderness and bruising, for example, when my big cat walks on me but my swelling and inflammation have reduced so much that it is minimal compared to before. I've accepted that nodules are just part of lippy life so, no, I don't worry about it. Even if you have them removed they can come back. I work with a nutritionist who has lipedema and she has assured me that I'm doing everything I need to do to keep it under control long term. Unfortunately, we are all kind of trailblazing this thing together so 🤞♥

    In general, are people with lipedema more uncomfortable during the summer heat versus other seasons compared to those without lipedema? Trying to plan a vacation- 🙏

    • @sturdywoman
      @sturdywoman  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @rebecca3745 hello from another Rebekah! Yes, heat and warm weather tend to make us swell more, but if you want to do a beach vacation certainly do! I'm planning to go to the beach in a few months. Remember, if you are getting in the water that will also help drain fluid. Whatever you do, make it fabulous! ♥♥

    I have lipedema in my arms and legs and upper stomach, I don’t know what type. I am just learning about it. I also have Vascular-Ehlers-Danlos which is a connective tissue disorder. I have also wondered if the two are connected for me.

  • @evab2274
    @evab2274 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Hi, what's the reason for / benefit of wearing compression? Aesthetics, or does it help with anything? My arms never fit anywhere, I've been wanting to do something like this but I feel it's gonna be very uncomfortable and might give you a rash in summer, no? I also didn't know if this would be good or bad for circulation and what not.

    • @sturdywoman
      @sturdywoman  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @evab2274 great questions! Similar to wearing compression socks on an airplane, these are designed to increase circulation and stimulate lymph flow to relieve swelling. They are pretty comfortable if you get the right size. Most of them have a texture on the inside that gently tugs to the skin to help move fluid. Yes, it can be hot in the summer, though! I wear my leg compression every day but only wear arm compression when I feel particularly swollen. It's all about figuring out what works for you.

    I am quite curious about the mercury in the garment?

    • @sturdywoman
      @sturdywoman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @debrachase894 mmHg is a unit of measurement for pressure that tells you how strong the compression is. It literally refers to how many millimeters liquid mercury in a tube moves with pressure. Cool, right? You see it used with blood pressure sometimes too. Great question, though! We certainly wouldn't want to put mercury on our skin!

    Hi. Thanks for the information on this. I watched all of your videos yet so dont know if you've mentioned this. Would you mind saying what excercises youve done for your arms and how much did you lose from them? And is it painful and very tiring when you excercise them?

    • @sturdywoman
      @sturdywoman  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @whatever-ou2he hi! You can see how my arms changed in my before and after video to see how they changed here: th-cam.com/video/MwK_aUNbG-Y/w-d-xo.html Sounds like you've already seen it though 😆 I've lost about four inches off each of my arms, but that is somewhat offset by muscle I have put on. I use a TRX body weight suspension trainer a few times a week to build muscle in my arms and otherwise focus on walking, jogging, etc. I'm lucky not to have a lot of pain when exercising. I've found keto has helped a lot to reduce muscle fatigue and weakness both during and after exercise. Sending big hugs ♥
