If it helps anyone who wants to know how the ISNTREE BHA compares to the Paula's Choice one. I have used them both. I really liked the Paula's Choice one, its finish is quite oily, smooth and glowy skin is what you'll get in the mornings (I use them both at night). Also, I really like the ISNTREE one, its finish is quite hydrating and in the mornings I noticed my skin is not only smooth, it's like a baby's bum as well (quite glowy too). Which is better? Well, they're both effective as BHA toners, but I would go for the ISNTREE one for the price and how it makes my skin feels in the mornings.
Thanks for this comparison! Finally a cheaper alternative to Paula's Choice, I mean it's my holy grail skincare item for 4 years but it's not that affordable 😅
I am comparing the two. Both have 2 percent salicylic acid. The instree one have hyaluronic acid which explains the added hydration. I might buy the instree one since the Paula's choice is so expensive
I like so many alternatives. I can't use the PC 2%BHA without compromising my skin barrier even using once a week. When the COSRX AHA/BHA has never hurt me
Hi Kelly for my ultra sensitive, rosacea and eczema prone skin I use the by Wishtrend 5% mandelic toner on the perimeter of the face, neck and chest. In the t zone I use a small amount of the PC calm 1% BHA (the 30ml travel size has lasted months and months, as it has a gel/serum texture and one pump is enough for the t zone). My skin hates glycolic acid and 2% BHA is just too much for me. The mandelic toner works all over really, but that 1% BHA keeps my pores clear used once or twice a week. I use a retinoid and azelaic acid, as well as urea - all of which help with cell turnover and give a light exfoliation on an everyday basis, but the mandelic toner and 1% BHA boost my exfoliation needs once or twice a week (once in the colder months and twice in the warmer months works best for me). I do like PHA and sometimes use the Inkey List PHA toner in place of the by wishtrend mandelic toner. These are my favourites and work really well for me. Best wishes.
I was pleasantly surprised when Purito launched that new exfoliating liquid that includes actives as high as 7% glycolic acid (strongest AHA) + 2% salicylic acid (not their usual betaine salicylate). That must be a heavy hitting exfoliation for sure and thanks for sharing your thoughts! I already bought both the Purito & Isntree exfoliating liquid, waiting for my current product to be finished before using those. Can't wait to try it myself!
I wonder if they created this product specifically for the western market, as far as I understood Korean regulations did not allow as high of a bha so that's why all the products there use the betaine salycilate 🤔
@@morgianasartre6709 I'm sure they considered western market a lot when they were manufacturing that product as after all western countries are the biggest market for k-beauty now, but like Kelly said in this video, I thought the strict regulation on the usage of salicylic acid has been lifted in Korea? I think the new exfoliating liquid is sold in their local market too but I'm not sure.
@@tojin Yes sorry, I hadn't gotten to that part of the video yet, seems I have missed when the restriction was lifted cause just in the beginning of last year I was hearing it was still in place.
I just wanna say your channel is the best go-to for skincare enthusiasts! Your reviews are so on point. Thank you for creating such informative skin-related videos. So much love ~
I love that they are gentle, I can use them more often to prevent pimples and I don't have to struggle and recover every week after those chemical peels y'all do
I haven’t heard of the Wishtrend Acid Duo Hibiscus 63 cream, but I have found PHA to be a non irritating exfoliant so I will add this to my “Try” list. I have mature, somewhat dry skin with rosacea and have been loving a gentle, softly moisturizing toner with PHA from Pyunkang Yul, the Calming Deep Moisture Toner. It is part of a line for acne prone skin, but the ingredient list is full of skin soothing ingredients that help to calm my rosacea and improve the texture of my skin. I would absolutely recommend.
I was looking for a comparison between the paula's choice and isntree BHA solutions and finally found one!! Thanks for this vid it's been really helpful :))
Do you have any source for this change or regulations in sud korea? To my knowledge companies like isntree and purito were able to formulate products with 2% bha because they were intended to be sold in the western market, in fact they are not actually sold in korea
Thanks for the tips on the clay mask. I actually prefer K-Skincare exfoliants because my face don't like the strong stuff. Slow and stead is the Win for me. I just got the Isntree Clear Skin (1x/week) and I've used the Cosrx AHA/BHA and the BHA ones. Cheers!
Kelly, you’re a wealth of knowledge and your videos seriously brighten my day. I’m currently using the Mizon AHA 8 peeling serum which smells like detergent and I only use x1 per week. I’ve been eyeing and tossing between the Isntree Essence and The Ordinary 10% Lactic Acid (highly recommended by Madaboutskin) and not sure which to choose. I have very oily acne prone skin which is a bit resilient to strong exfoliants. Thoughts?
I’ve tried Nip&Fab SA 2% XXL toner and enjoyed it, tried TO’s Lactic Acid 5% and it was OK, tried Facetheory’s C2 and C2 Pro Cleansers (multi acids) and their Glycolascal Solution (far too strong so Nah), currently enjoying Indeed Lab’s Gluconolactone 10% toner and Boots (drugstore) Ingredients Salicylic acid serum, on Sundays I use TO’s SA mask Can’t wait to try Cosrx Blackhead Power Liquid Sounds like right up my street I think I’ve moved from AHAs towards PHAs but my love for salicylic acid is staying strong and true
Great products and Good useful information 👍🏼. You are the Best always 💕😘. Here's some of the information we people need to know.. my suggestion is to make video on this also.. 1) how can we avoid over exfoliating? I mean how many times a week we can a particular product?. 2) what should be skincare routine when using any of these products?. Etc questions.. please make detailed video on it.. this is i think much needed information apart from knowing good product.. we must know how to and when to use it..
Prescription strenght retinoids are typically rather harsh, otc high percents of retinal can also cause some irritation and flaking but retinols are usually pretty okay, unless you are suuuuper sensitive or your skin dislikes the particular product of course.
Hi there new subscriber here, hope you are well, thanks for all your videos i bought a lot of things based on your reviews and omg amazing ( Prem make toner, the ceramide ato cream, the kombucha tea essence) just wow! Do you use retinols product ? Any advice on those ? Thank you so much and have a great day
Hi ms. Kelly. I always follow your advice when it comes to skincare products. :) thanks you so much. :) I just want to ask if it is safe to you use aha/bha while using klairs vit.c serum and klairs vit.e cream? I noticed my skin developed hyperpigmentation. 😥 Thanks you. :)
Math!s had good advice here to split up your use of vitamin C and aha/bha into separate routines! And Morgiana also has a good reminder to always wear SPF when using these types of ingredients.
Actually according to some dr. dray you can use AHA/BHA before vit C, since they're low ph ingredients there wont be any conflict. It even said that bha may help your vit c penetrate deeper, i use both my morning routine without any issue but like all thing in skincare i would see what your skin can tolerate
@@joanneexume3655 The question was if it's safe, while technically you can, we know that l-ascorbic acid is pretty potent and often irritating as is, if you enhance the penetration even more it might lead to problems for many people so if they are seeing adverse effects like hyperpigmentation (potentially a result of a broken barrier) then for them it's probably not the best to be using them together.
Your pro tip sounds like a alot of work I would just suggest a person use The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque. I know it's not K Beauty but at least you can know both steps with this since it a clay mask with BHA in it.
