    This video is part of a series in which I trial a brand or theme's skincare products for a minimum of two weeks; afterward, I give a review of each product based on my experience, the ingredients, and the cost. I film these bare faced (with the skincare discussed applied) for transparency. These videos are made to share my own experience and general thoughts. I've been anxiously awaiting this review!!! And two parts for the DRAMA! One of my all time favorite brands!!! Have nearly as many products from them as you do LOL plus backups!! Just recently purchased their chestnut aha product after being obsessed with their bha, but have yet to open it as i have so many other acids open right now! You NEED to try their aloe toner as well! So calming and soothing, yet watery and hydrating! Thanks for the thoroughness as always!

    Gosh, you really put so much effort into editing and substance, it's immensely appreciated! You recall which video covered constituents, which is a solid tangent from the topic of this video, (with the link appearance being timed just right- some people forget the links entirely) and you offer a mini explanation so those not in the know can still follow, all without missing a beat, then you bring it back into the flow of a more general review, it was seamless. 👏
    That plus all the ingredient lists, guiding text boxes and generally how you conduct and organize these videos helps my unchecked ADHD brain follow along. You're very detail oriented in the best way, I think you'd make a really great teacher!

    Watching old videos because of my recent order (with a lot of Isntree products). It kind of felt like I was grading my order like a test to your classes. I actually did pretty well. So watching your videos really does help and I hope others feel the same.
    A thought came to me when you mentioned that "we don't want lingering signs of our past breakouts" ... exactly! I always need to break up with my breakouts. Just wish we didn't have that on again off again relationship 😂

    • @thescarletgraywitch8052
      @thescarletgraywitch8052 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AliceintheRabbitHole I'm at about 5-6 weeks. Although, I tried to minimize my skincare during a week long pupsitting trip and started using it every night. Also, I've been using Cos de Baha serums for the "sandwich" thing they said to do, and those thicker, aloe based serums seem like the biggest difference. As soon as I got home, I started using those again with some more calming barrier support products and it's improved. Although I can see I'll have to have patience with my dry areas... the cooling, moisturizing marine ingredients based products feel soooo good right now, especially with the 110 degree Temps outside. I'm just glad that except for the grocery store, it's pretty much only animals that see me right now! 😂 I HAVE to get that onion based toner!!

  • @fairphantome
    @fairphantome 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    YAAAAAAAY I've been waiting for this video (series!). Excellent, helpful review as always! I was so close to cracking and repurchasing the more expensive BHA liquid you referenced because I've been dealing with some skin congestion and I know that treatment works, but now I'm going to try the isntree. At some point, I also want to try up the onion (purple is my fav color so not a problem for me!) and the AHA (I used a previous version and look forward to the improved!). I also have some interest in the HA essence (I enjoyed the og toner years ago) but I run into the tricky thing of when my skin is the driest there is also less humidity in the air. I'd love to know about your thoughts about the green tea+LED after trying other antioxidants with the LED. I keep being intrigued by green tea but then going for other things because of the marketing or the price (amore pacific yikes).

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amorepacific was just too pricey for me (and personally for not enough results BUT that could be my skin type for sure!) But yeah, I can’t figure out why Andrei is so stuck on green tea in LED therapy when there are soooo many other antioxidant options!

    I have been curious about the chestnut and onion products from Isntree, but now I want to try them in my next order. I am happily waiting for the second part of my May Stylevana order, I split it up based on the video where you talked about how it will take longer to get products that indicate a longer period of before shipping. For anyone who hasn’t noticed this on the product page or on each item in your shopping cart, instead of “usually shipped within in 24 hours”, it will say “usually shipped within 7-14 working days “ or “usually shipped within 30 working days”. I already have a new shopping cart that I add to when I find a new product I want to try or when I know I will be out of a product in about three months. And then I wait for the best prices or discounts, because there will always be more than one.

    Love the phone call with past Alice🤣. When I first heard of Isntree I bought the Issinfree green tea micellar water thinking it was from them and didn't realize until I was like half way through it that it wasn't😅. It actually wasn't that bad but then again it was just a micellar water so🤷🏼‍♀️
    I'm excited to try the onion toner, even if I am a bit worried your nose might be betraying me🤧 (j/k sorta lol)
    I might get a few of their other toners to try also since I'm still on the hunt for a good replacement for G&G liquid hydration.

      I wasn’t kidding at all in my flashback - I totally mixed those brands up…and probably for at least a year LOL!
      I will be nervously awaiting you trying the onion toner hahaha! I feel confident though as Ara also didn’t smell onion. I did a single blind test…which is to say I stuck it under her nose and said “CLOSE YOUR EYES AND TELL ME WHAT THIS SMELLS LIKE” - a very professional, research-based approach 🙃😆 She said there’s a faint smell of “something”, but she didn’t say onion 👀

    I usually distinguish innisfree from isntree in that innisfree products tend to have fragrance and can be found at sephora. That isntree HA essence has had all sorts of opinions, lol. Some weren't impressed by it and some absolutely love it. Have you tried the Benton Green Tea Toner?

    Thanks Alice, I think that onion toner will be on my shelf soon. Do you know, or can estimate, the amount of niacinamide it has? • @AliceintheRabbitHole

      My guess - and it’s only a guess - is that it would be at if not under 5%. And I say that because I have reacted to higher levels of niacinamide in the past, but this is smooth sailing for my skin!

    I tried the chestnut 2% bha in hopes of finding a replacement for Paula's choice 2% bha, but sadly the isntree was too drying for me and it took forever to fix my moisture barrier. So disappointing, I have no idea why that is since PC is a little drying but not to the point of huge patches of flaking skin. I might look into the onion line tho as I struggle with acne!

    • @karatalksaboutstuff7333
      @karatalksaboutstuff7333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't tried the Isntree one, but this is the same issue I have every time I think I can find another brand of BHA. Something about the PC is just so much less drying than anything I've tried so far! I think I'm giving up and just paying the PC price. I use it sparingly, so one bottle lasts me 6 months -- not exactly breaking the bank.🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole

    I still think hyaluronic acid is still exciting for someone living in the US. Most of the hyaluronic acid here is sodium hyaluronate. Occasionally you will see hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid. Asisn brands have much better hyaluronic combinations, and they're not unreasonably expensive.
    Sodium hyaluronate is great because it's one of the lighter molecules, it's stable, and I'm assuming it's the easiest to manufacture. Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and regular hyaluronic acid are great because they're heavier. But I like to have as many forms as possible because my skin really loves it.

      Yes I have - it seems to be quite popular! I went very deep in the rabbit hole one day on Andrei’s work (lol I can’t remember his last name - it’s in the video though 🤣) and his entire logic is that antioxidants neutralize any potential damage from LED. The thing is…it’s kind of complicated. Because on one hand, LED therapy is made to treat and not to harm. And while there may be exceptions due to certain conditions (such as melasma) then not using LED is a better option from the start in those cases? BUT it’s ultimately not a bad idea, although if the premise really is neutralizing free radicals, then there are many options to choose from. Antioxidants are as ubiquitous as hyaluronic acid I would say 🤐
      I go off on all that to say: I like the combo, but I suspect it’s not limited to JUST green tea!
      And great news with BHA - newer research has come out suggesting it’s not pH-dependant! Lab Muffin has a post about it if you want to see more 😃

      @@AliceintheRabbitHole yea that good about the pH sometimes my skin can't handle the low pH exfoilant.
      Yea the green Roibos is suppose to be like greentea and a different part of the the plant or something I haven't done much research like the matcha powder , I think their using different parts. I know that for a while mr Kong's mom Penn smith skincare was going on about it.
      I think the Benton greentea I oner was made for more dry skin people but has other things in it and the closet I have seen is isntree to amara Pacific I mean ware is all the green tea dupes. At all, it will hurt to fall in love with 2 essences that the mini size is 100$ omg 😱 have u tried Benton greentea toner yet ? I have it on the list actually I got it from Benton on Amazon along with he iope bio essence I got the Benton for like 11$ I just did a subscription is case I like them so I can keep the good price and if I don't like it I'll just cancel the sub.

    Amorepacific green tea essence annoyingly is much nicer than the Isntree toner. But its like getting 85% of value for 1/10 the price. Don't recommend Amorepacific unless you have a lot of disposable income or find a great deal.

      LOL yes, it is annoyingly better - perfect description! But too much $$ to me personally (my splurge from amorepacific is the powder cleanser - pricey but at least it lasts and lasts and LASTS hahaha)

    The green tea fresh toner burnt my skin. At first I thought it was a fake product, got another, same problem. It turned out I had developed a sensitivity to hylauronic acid. Its in everything. Curses.

      Update. Not allergic to hylauronic acid. Allergic to TEA. Can't drink it, it makes me throw. If I put anything with it in on my skin it burns.
      I'm worried england will render me stateless!

    Alice hi!! we have arrived! I’m so excited for this!!! I love hearing your thoughts 💛 I was actually really interested in the onion products because I’ve already known about the benefits and have used products that had onion inside of them but it was never the star so this was intriguing right from the start but the prices hurt my wallet 🥴 I’m a budget girl. The toner is $28 and I’ve only paid $13 for a toner 😂 where I shop
