I've been using the corsx daily salicylic cleanser for about 6 month and it changed my skin! Changing my bha from exfoliating liquid to cleanser was such a good idea. I also moisturize a lot, but I never feel oily when I use it, which I love. It's also super cheap and a little goes a long way, so a tube last a loooooong time!
I used to think these acids (glycolic, salicylic...) weren't for my skin because I'd always get a breakout EVERY TIME after using them. I tried the Hanskin AHA cleansing balm and omg- my skin had never been this consistently clear, ever. My skin type is dry and prone to clogged pores and I usually use some kind of niacinamide serum and azelaic acid to clear up breakouts fast but once my skin is healed, I use the cleanser every other day and couple it with a moisturizing spf afterwards and thats it. I haven't had clogged pores/ blackheads in months- it's my holy grail.
I have dry skin, but my I'm also acne prone and will get tons of white heads and generally very clogged pores. I can say the Paula's Choice 2% was a godsend for me. I don't have perfect skin, but its helped my texture, acne, and don't dry me out. I also have very sensitive skin. So definitely a good one 👍
@@jessxkay I completely understand. I have super sensitive skin too. You could try it, patch test, then work your tolerance up to twice, three times, etc. You can also try the Corsx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid one. @@ulyaamalia8663 also I want to add that Paula's Choice has a lot of options for BHAs... But if you have oily acne prone skin, the BHA from the clear line is my recommendation. You shoud consider trying the Paula's Choice "RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment With 2% BHA." I absolutely LOVE how Paula's choice 2% BHA affects my skin and REALLY WANT TO USE IT AGAIN but it causes my eyebrows to fall out. Even when I didn't use it for about a month or longer and they stopped falling out and then I used a miniscule amount on my cheeks and nose (not near the eyebrows) AND washed it off after 15 minutes AND even washed it off in a way so the water stream doesn't touch the eyebrows - they started falling out again just after that! I finally got to try the glow recipe toner, and WHERE HAVE IT BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE?! I used it at night, and the next morning I woke up to such a bright and glowing face! I was still half awake, and that woke me up so quick because I couldn’t believe my eyes. I can’t wait to build tolerance, so I can use it everyday. Def recommend!
I just love his calming voice - I want him to tuck me in at night and read me a bedtime story... "Once upon a time James, Hyram and Robert followed a bread crumb trail into the woods...."
i used to put liquid aspirin (the injectable kind, not the fizzy one) on my face in highschool and i never had any acne. i'm glad to see mainstream industry caught up to my crazy ideas. although probably the acid is much more diluted now than the full-on nuclear strength of that in aspirin
@@JamesWelsh No. it's an injectable used as a post-op pain killer. I just used it because everybody used to have in the house (i'm from an eastern european country and we really didn't have much substance regulation during communism) and it was dirt cheap. 1 vial was the equivalent of 5 cents now. it might not be available without prescription now. I don't know its status in the UK, maybe you can get it over the counter. hope this helps :)
I am from Poland and we also have liquid vitamin C drops, for children to be taken orally. Most of them are 10% vitamin C in glycerol. In the recent years a lot of women here started to use them on their faces as well, me included. A bottle of the vit C diet supplement drops costs an equivalent of a few euros, when vit C serums can easily go well in the 40-140 range.
I’ve seen some videos from dermatologists on TH-cam saying that salicylic acid is good for a pre shave cleanser to avoid ingrown hairs too, main reason I’m trying the cerave product you mention

Not only did I cheat on the PC BHA after many years together...I've decided to leave the relationship. I found one I love more that treats my skin better and is more respectful of my wallet too. The name is Qrx Labs BHA Liquid with Niacinamide and Green Tea. We are good together. Check out the profile on Amazon. 💙
But it comes from a good family- the QRxers! And we have a good thing going! We won't break up under pressure nor even with PC 20% off sales w/ free shipping! 😃🤣😂
I have dry, acne prone skin, and The Inkey List salicylic cleanser has been working well for me. I pair it with a thick moisturizer and I have yet to notice it drying my skin out too much.
I am currently using the Cos de Baha 4% salicylic acid 2% niacinamide serum. I like it, although I wish they gave us a proper B3 levels. It is nice and I will likely repurchase it. I have very oily skin and my favourite way of using BHA is mixing it with 10% niacinamide in one routine (usually evening, once or twice a week - I go with hydrating toner, niacinamide, BHA, wait a minute to absorb (clean your teeth in the meantime), calming moisturizer). I wake up with clear skin, no visible pores (both shrinked and no black oxidation dots) and less oil production. I used to use the 10% niacinamide and 2% BHA from the Ordinary, but the former has a sticky formula and the latter was discontinued. Right now I am using 10% niacinamide serum from Geek&Gorgeous (loving it!) and the abovementioned Cos de Baha serum. I will probobly look for other BHA serums to test, as the 12% niacinamide may be an overkill in the long run.
I have very oily and black head prone skin. NOTHING worked for me before I started using the COSRX BHA BLACKHEAD POWER LIQUID, based on James's recommendation. It has 100% cleared up my pores and controls oil so thanks, James. I use it 3x a week at night.

I may be a pleb but i just use Stridex pads. They’ve been working for me for a decade❤️ My skin is moderately oily and acne prone, it’s thick as hell and not sensitive.
I've found great results with the Nip & Fab Salicylic acid Face Wash, it was slightly drying at first so I didn't use it every day but its really helped keep my break outs at bay, and is gentle enough to use on active breakouts I'd say! Great recommendations James I can't wait to try the Paula's Choice!
Hi James, my personal favorite BHA is in my cleanser which is Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser. I was actually looking forward for you to mention this product since you love Cosrx so much but so far this is my go-to cleanser as I found that it works and not that drying.
Great video 🤗🌻 My favorite exfoliating liquid is the one from Paulas Choice, because I have normal but very sensitive skin. And it works sooooo great, really loving it. Just sometimes a little irritation comes out but its absolutely fine.
James you are such a lovely person,I've had a 💩 week but watching your videos not only am I learning so much but your very calming I feel really chilled listening to you,you would be brilliant doing audio books, anyway hello 🤘😄🤘
Oo perfect! I got the Paula's Choice Mini, and I'm almost out of it and was going to reorder the full size during the Sephora sale. I've only been using it like 3 weeks, maybe a month, and my skin does look slightly better, but I know it doesn't happen super fast so I wasn't expecting much, I just like to try out minis because I have tons of allergies, so I like to make sure the product doesn't cause any reactions. But if you say there's one better than the Paula's choice....I might order that too 🤣🤣
Oh dear, you've done it again!! 🙌After trying Paula's Choice based on your recommendation, I wanted to try an alternative bha since I always like to try new products and I really trust your advice, so this video could not have come at a better time 🤓🖤
I love Paula’s choice products i do use the 2% BHa exfoliant. I just love it. My skin is smooth, nice texture. Where were these products when I was a teenager.
Great video, I’d love some recommendations for Bha’s for dry skin too or just a routine for different skin types other than oily. I love your content so much. Thank you, James ♥️
@Lindsey Havniear I have dry skin and have used & loved the PC 2% liquid exfoliant (I use it twice a week because that’s all I need for a BHA; I’m not acne prone and use it for keeping texture smooth and evening out skin tone). I also love the Glow Recipe PHA/BHA which is very gentle (it’s really too gentle for me so I probably won’t buy it again but I’m a sucker for all Glow Recipe products & always buy them to try out 😂) and super hydrating. Hope that helps 😊
i’m currently loving the cosrx calming foam cleanser with salicylic acid and centella, and ingredient i started using recently and that my skin absolutely ADORES! It also has glycerin and after i use it my skin feels hydrated and super soft! i personally use it for body acne since a little bit goes a long way but my skin is quite sensitive so my face should like it too 💞
I always try and find a cheaper alternative to the Paula’s Choice one but idk what they put in that formulation but it’s the best one by far no matter what!
The best one I ever used for someone who has combo extremely dry and combo skin is herbivore blue tansy bha . I look like a completely different person with glowing skin it’s wild . It has a natural form bha I’m blown away
I personally did not like the Paulas Choice original BHA exfoliant- I found it oily and the pH is lower than the others which irritated my skin, and my skin isn't even sensitive. I do however enjoy her other liquid BHA toners, but as they are so water-like, I found myself going through them too quickly. My faves: I do find I LOVE the Paula's Choice 2% BHA gel for spot treatment! I also adore CosRx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid and have been a die-hard fan for years- a can't live without product for me (3 pumps covers my face and neck- I apply pretty quickly then massage into problem blackhead areas ie. nose and chin). Lastly, I love The Inkey List BHA serum when my skin is acting up a bit more. The slightly viscous texture allows it to spread quite far and the small bottle lasts quite a while. Actually, all of these products mentioned, I find great value for the price and last me a long time as I use the little amount necessary. :) And finallly, the CeraVe SA Bumpy Skin LOTION i(3% salicylic acid) s fabulous for KP. You're fabulous, James!!!
I, and many others, got the Farmacy Deep Clean Toner in their Boxy Charm subscriptions. I am new to skin care and it is the first (and only) toner I have used and I use it once a day. I am lucky and that it doesn't irritate my normal skin at all. I actually really like it!
Just bought my first Salicylic Acid product today! I bought The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser to start with from Boots! So pleased to see it in there! I also bought some Inkey List HAIR stuff... So intrigued! I'd love to see a "and sometimes hair" review on their hair line! ;)
I have dry skin, adult hormonal acne, prone to cysts occasionally. I used paulas choice hoping for good results but every single time i used it i woke up with a cyst. Only used it once a week. Only stuck with it maybe a month. My skin is also sensitive and reactive
I have rosacea on my cheeks. I personally use the Glow Recipe toner every 3rd day. I only do a skin routine at night. I use Glow Recipe toner on the 1st day, the next day retinol (Glow recipe Avocado sleeping mask), and then a calming/moisturizing routine the 3rd day).
Paula's choice is overhyped imho. I'm very oily and sensitive and acne prone. The Inkey List salicylic cleanser all the way for me! I use it 4x a week with super results and zero irritation. Paula's choice leaves my skin red for 24hrs afterwards and is so sticky. Cosrx is next on my list to try. Thanks for a great video.
idk why but he said he used the facial cleaner in the shower for neck/back breakouts and the brightest lightbulb went off in my head. wow. is this enlightenment
Can you do a video on dry skin + acne prone skin? Lots of these products targeted for acne skin is for oily people. And unfortunately acne products can dry out skin more. I feel like I'm playing tug of war with products lol
I love the Glow Recipe BHA and the CeraVe SA cleanser- both have made a noticeable difference with my enlarged pores. I have combo skin, and find they aren't too drying- and the GR smells divine. Love this vid too (of course) xx
The glow recipe banana cream is very greasy(even if you only use a tiny bit) bit it works soooooo well, I’d recommend cleaning after you use it at night.
James, please try Aprilskin. It's another Korean brand. It helped clear my acne. I've been using products from their Carrotene line, including their sunscreen. But...I only trust your judgement on things and I wanna know if their ingredients are really good.

Hey please suggest me that it works foe hyperpigmentation?
I just love his calming voice - I want him to tuck me in at night and read me a bedtime story... "Once upon a time James, Hyram and Robert followed a bread crumb trail into the woods...."
And Marcus!
Please do an AHA similar video! Very informative 💜
i used to put liquid aspirin (the injectable kind, not the fizzy one) on my face in highschool and i never had any acne. i'm glad to see mainstream industry caught up to my crazy ideas. although probably the acid is much more diluted now than the full-on nuclear strength of that in aspirin
Why have I never heard of liquid aspirin?! Is that like....muscle pain gel kind of thing?
As person with overall dry skin, but acne-prone (especially with the masks) i love the glow recipe one!!
Yass I was just craving some content and yesterday thinking of this topic, James is my saviour lol 🙌
Thank you so much for this video. As someone with oily skin, it's awesome to get a breakdown description of things that have worked for these issues !
I’ve seen some videos from dermatologists on TH-cam saying that salicylic acid is good for a pre shave cleanser to avoid ingrown hairs too, main reason I’m trying the cerave product you mention
ugh this man is gorgeous i literally could never
One of the serums which James used to recommend was The Body Shop's tea tree serum, which apparently has salicylic acid in it.
greeeeeeat video as usual, thank you! I started off using benton aloe bha toner to ease my skin into bha and then got paulas choice bha!!! Changed my lifeeeeeee!!! I have oily/acne prone skin
James, I'm not even kidding, you're the sole reason why I bought the rice toner from I'm from and now I bought the Axis-Y Serum. . Don't know why but i trust your advice all the time
I truly fell in love with paulas choice BHA and I won't cheat on that one ever 😳
@@geoc1005 How dare you???? Whats his name?
This video is gold!!!! We don’t deserve you James 🧡🧡
I have become so diligent with my skincare, sticking to a very strict diet, routine, and compatible products all year long!!
I 'm becoming your a big fan of you!! I love the way you explain the products and your personal experience makes me trust on you and run to buy products. Love youuuu!
I may be a pleb but i just use Stridex pads. They’ve been working for me for a decade❤️
My skin is moderately oily and acne prone, it’s thick as hell and not sensitive.
i love your icon meanings in the description box explaining clearly what each icon will mean 💖😘 too cute..
James says we are perfect but James you are perfect
Hi James! So glad you done a video on BHA! Been wanting to try one for so long and never knew which one to get. Thank you 😁
I wonder how he feels about Medicube? Especially with all the new ads these days, would love an update!
One of the best video of James! THANK YOU 💕
LOVE the chapter feature in your video!! Wish this tool was used more often!
Can you do a video on what food to eat for your skin + what fruit/veggi derivatives are good in skincare!! 🙏🏽🤟🏾👑🖤🖤
But if you say there's one better than the Paula's choice....I might order that too 🤣🤣
Great video! I love how thorough the video is 😄
Oh dear, you've done it again!! 🙌After trying Paula's Choice based on your recommendation, I wanted to try an alternative bha since I always like to try new products and I really trust your advice, so this video could not have come at a better time 🤓🖤
Nip+fab salicylic fix toner is AMAZING as well
Hellllloooo James!! 💜Loving this video and the Double Cleanse Podcast 🙌 finally got to hear the latest and it was wonderful 👏 🖤💜🤗🤗🖤💜
👀👀💜💜💜💜 Hey bestieee and yesss it was so good !!! I love listening to DCPC when I'm cleaning... My face or home. Lolz 😅🤣
@@jamier9851 It's for my bus rides to and from work! Makes me calm and feel like I'm not so alone 😅💜🖤🤗😘💜🖤 Hope you're having a great day! 🖤💜😘😘💜🖤
Oh my god..your skin is so glowing.. And thank you so much for this video...
This video is awesome James, so helpful with the timestamps too thank you!
I'm obsessed with that light on the background of Luna, I can't find it anywhere. 😭
Its probably custom. People make them on Etsy!
The Super BHA video to end all BHA informative vids?? I'm in
Thank you for a break down on these. I start reading through ingredients and I just get overwhelmed.
I love Paula’s choice products i do use the 2% BHa exfoliant. I just love it. My skin is smooth, nice texture. Where were these products when I was a teenager.
if u skin is very sensitive give a chance to the aloe bha toner from benton, this product is very gentle but it works so well🖒
The Farmacy was my first BHA but my skin loves it, especially when I'm extra hormonal every month.
Clicked the moment I got the notification!!
Love your videos so sooo much James🥰❤
Thank you so much!! 🤭💜🙏🏼🙏🏼
i’m currently loving the cosrx calming foam cleanser with salicylic acid and centella, and ingredient i started using recently and that my skin absolutely ADORES!
Paula's Choice 2% saved my skin. It's a godsend.
The best one I ever used for someone who has combo extremely dry and combo skin is herbivore blue tansy bha . I look like a completely different person with glowing skin it’s wild . It has a natural form bha I’m blown away
STAYC on the background!!!!! We love to see it
I personally did not like the Paulas Choice original BHA exfoliant- I found it oily and the pH is lower than the others which irritated my skin, and my skin isn't even sensitive. :)
And finallly, the CeraVe SA Bumpy Skin LOTION i(3% salicylic acid) s fabulous for KP.
You're fabulous, James!!!
I know you changed the music in your intro since this but I love that you used Stay C’s So Bad opening notes for your intro
I'd love to see a "and sometimes hair" review on their hair line! ;)
His skin is goals .
I love that you have a mimikyu in your setup he's my favourite pokemon!
idk why but he said he used the facial cleaner in the shower for neck/back breakouts and the brightest lightbulb went off in my head. wow. is this enlightenment
My skin is combo & the Paulas Choice 2% Liquid Exfoliant has work wonders. Ordered the Glow Recipe Watermelon PHA/BHA so we’ll see how that goes! 😬
Bro his voice and accent is awesomeeee
Can you do a video on dry skin + acne prone skin? Lots of these products targeted for acne skin is for oily people. And unfortunately acne products can dry out skin more. I feel like I'm playing tug of war with products lol
Yassss I’ve been waiting for this!
I love the Glow Recipe BHA and the CeraVe SA cleanser- both have made a noticeable difference with my enlarged pores. I have combo skin, and find they aren't too drying- and the GR smells divine. Love this vid too (of course) xx
did you use them together ??
Informative video as always, love your calm nature and voice ☺️
I wish I could replace all the Siri options with his voice! It’s so soothing.
