Honestly, it wasn't his specific story that made me tear up, but the amount of compassion and empathy from the young people in that room. It's good to see that future generations might not be as fucked as I thought.
Good for you Mushy. I hope you roll with this now to make the rest of your life a triumph. It's tough in the adult world but you have proven that you have the 'right stuff' to succeed.
Hello Musharaf! I worked at Thornhill today and Mr Burton is still SO inspiring! Well done to you....I saw some pictures of you on your return to school!
Educating Yorkshire was a fantastic reality series. Such a brilliant school with a Head Teacher anyone would have loved to have. Plus Mr Burton helping Mushy overcome his stutter all because of watching The King's Speech is amazing. You can just see the delight on his face when his idea begins to work. Well done to Mushy though, overcoming a stutter is a very difficult task.
This is what England is really about. Respect and peace. Helping people through there journey in life. Regardless of race or religion. Thanks for the video it made my day...
The love and compassion in that room is amazing to behold. I'm not a big crier, but I've got some tears streaming down my face. Every school should be like this. Every teacher should be like that teacher was.
very moving and brought me to tears. I've suffered from a mild stammer in the past and confidence issues, so know how brave that kid was. An inspiration to all of us. thanks for sharing
I wish I had a teacher like him at school. My history teacher laughed with the kids at me. I don't stammer so much now. I just speak too fast and slur my words.
You are very brave, I have had teachers like that, too. I didn't have a stammer, but I was very, very shy. Finally, someone suggested I just watch comics perform, some even repeatedly. I must have watched hundreds of hours of comic perform. I sitll get shy from time to time, but now others think I am a gregarious soul with great humor. I also remember what Robin Williams said when he messed up his lines, "Rented lips." That helped enormously.
+Potaishee they said it was year 7, in the UK we only have two schools them being primary and secondry school. these kids are in the first year of secondry school making them about 11 when he was bullied.
brought me to tears.. I love when teachers care enough to actually take time and help.. Great job Mushy + the teachers, you are wonderful human beings..
I'm not one of those people who watch mushy videos, but this really, truly moved me. I am extremely grateful to see such compassion in the audience, and such strength that this young man showed. Not only did he work to overcome his disadvantage, when he did, his words were to wish others well. I hope that we all can learn to show a fraction of the spirit these kids displayed in our daily lives!
cool...I have stuttered since elementary school, now in college. When I got stuck in class presentations, people would just yell stuff like "hurry the fuck up". The teacher did nothing about it...what kind of magical fairy tale world did this take place in.
Oh damn, this gets me every time. Amazing teachers, wish they all were genuinely as caring like this bunch. I'm glad Mr. Burton was upgraded to assistant head. He deserves it.
This is great. When I was great I used to have a horrible stuttering problem, and I had a problem with public speaking, and I can just relate. I wanted to cry like a baby. Beautiful.
This is so beautiful, he is an absolute inspiration. But we also need more people like his teacher in our world, who won't give up on the kids that are a bit different and stick with them until the end. When I was young I talked funny, mainly I couldn't pronounce my r's. Add crippling social anxiety to that and I almost failed out of elementary school many times because poor marks and low reading levels, and nearly left just as many times because of bullying. But I had a teacher similar to 'Mushys'. She would take me out of my class a few times a week and just work with me. She stayed patient and caring, and it is only because of her that today that I can so easily speak in public. So thank you to the teachers who care.
what a fantastic teacher and young man. I currently work in banking but I will be sacking it off over the next few years because I can be as good as this guy. Money does not equal happiness and I am so glad I have learnt that
to all the people saying this is fake, get a life please it's true and it's amazing. this is from educating Yorkshire on TV. a school in yorkshire has cameras set up around their building and it's a whole series about the school.
This I really inspirational I think its so great that he had the guts to get up in front of his school and actually say a speech. Moral is to never give up on something cjz the simplest thing as listening to music can help a really hard task. So proud!
This made me cry because my Dad had a terrible stammer. After years of struggle he was able to overcome it. This was a really touching video and I will be showing this to him, thank you for sharing.
They say "those who can, do and those who can't, teach". That phrase is not only tired, it is wrong. This video of Musharaf being able to speak is the exact reason why great teachers matter and the reason why those who want to be teachers can make such a difference in their students lives. Had it not been for some of the teachers I had, I would not be where I am today. All it took was finding a method of learning that worked, some hope and a bit of good luck and I will be eternally grateful for that.
Seriously a lot of you people are fucking heartless -_- Yes it was showing on my TH-cam for like what felt a month, and yes i did get sick of it, but after finally watching it, I have liked and favourited it as it made me cry, it is heart touching and this kid must go through a lot!
I had a kid in my college public speaking course that was like this he just couldn't get the words out then he panics and it just tumbles down from there I am a terrible public speaker so I felt his pain but I got through it. I felt so bad for the guy because I know how embarrassing it must have been. I hope he eventually retook the course and got it done because it would be a shame not to get your degree because you cant speak to a crowd. Don't ever bully someone for this fear is a hard thing to overcome because its a primal emotion.
Wow, man this video made me cry so much when he stood in front of his classmates and teachers, I just burst out into tears because it made me think about the time I have left with my friends in Secondary school, and it's not long. I'm just so upset because I don't want to leave them. I'm so proud of this boy and of the teacher for not giving upon him.
God bless. Very inspirational. People who have not been through hardship in their life will not understand. It may seem like a simple stammer, but the meaning is way deeper.
It's so amazing how he turned from a student who can't say one word to a student who really can read the most beautiful thing that he felt the confident he needed such brilliant teacher that he could transform his skill of reading to this level .. Seriously we need more teachers like him
This video has spammed my suggestions/inbox for the last few days so I had little choice but to watch this and hopefully my days of youtube pushing this on me are now over... until the next video!
Will make you cry and cry. Two fingers up to all the bullies that made his life so much more difficult that it needed to be. Always fight against the bullies, never be silent. And to those in education who stand up for and stand by those who are struggling - congratulations and well done. And to those in education who do not intervene, act upon or who tolerate bullying - be ashamed.
I think it is sicking to hear what people have wrote on here about stammering, I have a stammer and people who do speak fluently do not have a bloody clue about what this guy or me goes through each day.
only clicking this video because its everywhere i go on TH-cam, every fucking video , EVERY FUCKING TIME!! EVERY FUCKING SUGGESTION, EVERY FUCKING RECOMMENDATION !!!!!!!!!!!!
MrElectricSkittles how the fuck do you know its not fake??Im not saying it is..but you CAN'T know if it really is true!if it is it is really touching..if not someone got money for free
yo también vi este vídeo porque me canse de verlo en las recomendaciones, y lo abriste para ver que tan bueno era... (debido a la tanta recomendación) pero a la final buen mensaje: no dejes que una dificultad propia impida hacer lo que tanto anhelas.
I know exactly what this is like. When I was a kid; I was terrified to speak my mind... had a hard time learning what was right and wrong to say, but now I can speak in front of large groups without fear. Its so moving seeing someone else going through the same thing and overcoming his fears. The power of love right here!
Ich bin froh darüber das es noch Lehrer gibt die diesen Titel auch verdient haben und nicht einfach nur studiert haben und sich Pädagogen schimpfen....
You people who say that this doesn't deserve the views etc, are very small minded. This is something that has affected this kid along his whole life in a really bad way. Think that you could never speak clearly and had to studder like this during every sentence. Think of how many scenarios it would affect you. How many scenario's this would stop you from enjoying. This issue isn't a small issue. It's a big issue that creates 100's, if not 1000's of other issues within his life. And these are things that he has to go through every day. Amazing my man Mushy. Keep up the good work.
I'm so glad for you Mushy. But I loved the students who were crying for you ; never thought British people could be so sensitive. You are lucky to have such friends & teachers.
This is so inspiring, and hats off to the teacher who knew what to do. However, who could possibly be these 2,474 people (at the time I watched this) disliking this video? If you couldn't love this, what else could you?
How do people not understand that he has a speech impediment?! It is so obvious that is what he has overcome. And for all the people complaining about the video being all over youtube so they had to watch it, here is a fucking idea, be your own person and don't watch it! Nobody forced you to.
Upworthiest has some good videos THIS IS ONE OF THEM I love how supportive his classmates are, and I know how hard it is to overcome something like that - he's brave letting this be filmed (unless they just filmed without permission) his parents MUST BE SUPER PROUD 8D
I had a huge problem with public speaking all throughout school. I couldn't even read out loud in front of the class without stuttering because of how nervous I would get. My Cal Poly professor gave me the best advice I've ever gotten and now I can speak in front of crowds of any size, and thats act like no-one is paying attention or listening to you. It sounds weird but it honestly works, if you think no-ones listening it lets the words flow much easier at least for me it did. Hope this helps someone!
My mind won't let that kind of thinking work for me. But I did have a wonderful public speaking professor from Cal Poly who was extremely patient and compassionate toward me. I was the oldest person in the class because I waited until my last quarter to take it. I was so terrified of that GE requirement. I definitely stuttered a lot and got stuck in some speeches, but I let my non-verbal communication shine and wrote great speeches. I got the highest grade in the class. I've found that attitude you carry within yourself while stutter really effects the listeners. When I used to stutter in front of strangers full of anxiety and fear, many would get uncomfortable and behave poorly toward me. Now I try to just smile and feel okay with it as it happens. People are much more patient and encouraging.
As a guy who always had a stammer since childhood i know how it feels. He's a brave lad just for standing in front of all the teachers and pupils even though he knew his speech isn't going to be perfect. BLESS U BRO don't lose hope x.... and for the americunts who are being racist because of his religion, shame on u all! it really does make you look bad. Soon the tables are going to turn and the joke will be on you!! Peace from ENGLAND x
As someone with a stammer, this gives me great strength and inspiration to face my fear of speaking to people I do not know in case they judge me negatively. Great Job!
Unless you have a stammer you guys have no idea how hard that must have been to do - I'm glad they encouraged him to do that - take that leap, it'll set him up for a more confident life than most of us with the same affliction :)
I'm seeing a lot of people missing the point with this. This boy has had this stammering problem for, I'm guessing, all of his life. And to be able to hear yourself, or feel yourself, talking far more fluently would be a phenomenal thing to experience. All these people I see that are criticizing this are pampered people that don't know what struggle is, legitimately need some more insight to the story, or are doing it just to be assholes.
Just had to find Roldy and take him to White Castle. Damn bullies are assholes there's nothing extreme about them... I believe in you lil Kumar. I went through the same thing.
DoneByMe What the fuck do you mean? I will tolerate immigrants, but I will not tolerate you insulting us. Remember, this is OUR country, not yours, and that's the way it shall always be, no matter the demographic changes. The only reason you're even here is because we allowed you to be. You come here, you bomb us, you kill us, and now you are being racist to us, in our own fucking country... fucking outrageous...if I were you, I'd be trying to make the best impression to white people (you know - ethnic Britons), because things might turn out very badly for your people if you continue behaving in the way you do.
This was very, very moving and so wonderful to know that the solution really works with the use of music and of course, the encouragement of a dedicated teacher..sonya
Honestly, it wasn't his specific story that made me tear up, but the amount of compassion and empathy from the young people in that room. It's good to see that future generations might not be as fucked as I thought.
Seriously, that's when I teared up as well. That spontaneous reaction from his classmates... man. **wibbles tearfully**
Same
i promise you anyone who is crying in that video is more then likely still bullying.
*year.... not grade
Well, now we are well and truly fucked.
Thank you guys for all the nice comments im so glad you all loved it
Good for you Mushy.

That's a teacher committed to education of the purest form. I wish all teachers could be more like him.
People ask "Why on earth would you want to work in education?" Look at Mr. Burton's face at 1:16, that's why!
Great teacher plus the power of music! A delight to watch...very emotional! Awesome.
The love and compassion in that room is amazing to behold. I'm not a big crier, but I've got some tears streaming down my face.

I can't believe he was bullied in year 7 for something that's not his fault those people are stupid and don't realise his struggle.
High school kids are retards.
Middle school kids are the same.
+Potaishee High School kids are a bit less worse then middle schoolers, but yeah pretty cuntilicious
+Just Average I used to have a lisp until I was about 14. Think about that.
+Potaishee they said it was year 7, in the UK we only have two schools them being primary and secondry school. these kids are in the first year of secondry school making them about 11 when he was bullied.

Bless your little heart. Precious. I've seen you before but it makes me cry every time. Don't ever let anyone take your voice away. Shine on.
cool...I have stuttered since elementary school, now in college. When I got stuck in class presentations, people would just yell stuff like "hurry the fuck up". The teacher did nothing about it...what kind of magical fairy tale world did this take place in.
Yorkshire
doesn't seem like a magical fairyland now does it?
That is absolutely unforgivable!!! I'm so sorry you had to go through that..
That is really rude of them to do that. Unfortunately patience is a learned skill, not an innate one.
I'd fuck those assholes up if i was there, sorry mate, that shit ain't cool.
Thornhill, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England this took place in. Not much of a fairyland lol!
the look of the teacher as he saw that this is working...he is so proud of him, that´s fking awesome
Beautiful.
Did anyone else see just before he spoke as he got up there the boys at the front were literally in tears 💕😀

This is something emotionally fantastic...!
Surely the human brain is mesmerizing. And even more astonishing is the array of feelings and emotions we could experience.
This I really inspirational I think its so great that he had the guts to get up in front of his school and actually say a speech. Moral is to never give up on something cjz the simplest thing as listening to music can help a really hard task. So proud!

2:55 when the teacher said " he was bullied " then he knew himself.
man this part really made a scar in my heart
I had a kid in my college public speaking course that was like this he just couldn't get the words out then he panics and it just tumbles down from there I am a terrible public speaker so I felt his pain but I got through it. I felt so bad for the guy because I know how embarrassing it must have been. I hope he eventually retook the course and got it done because it would be a shame not to get your degree because you cant speak to a crowd. Don't ever bully someone for this fear is a hard thing to overcome because its a primal emotion.

I don't tear up easily, but this one did the job.
Will make you cry and cry. Two fingers up to all the bullies that made his life so much more difficult that it needed to be. Always fight against the bullies, never be silent. And to those in education who stand up for and stand by those who are struggling - congratulations and well done. And to those in education who do not intervene, act upon or who tolerate bullying - be ashamed.
i even cried when watched it.
best wishes to the boy and congratulations to the teacher, they both made a great job!
2,476 people without a soul. But they don't matter, do they?
اشهد لك انك بطل واخص بالشكر للمدرس اللي اعطاك دافع معنوي وايضا اصحابك اللي حيوك في نهاية مقالك

I think it is sicking to hear what people have wrote on here about stammering, I have a stammer and people who do speak fluently do not have a bloody clue about what this guy or me goes through each day.

Hell of a JVC commercial.
I'm so glad for you Mushy.

Upworthiest has some good videos
THIS IS ONE OF THEM
I love how supportive his classmates are, and I know how hard it is to overcome something like that - he's brave letting this be filmed (unless they just filmed without permission) his parents MUST BE SUPER PROUD 8D
I had a huge problem with public speaking all throughout school. I couldn't even read out loud in front of the class without stuttering because of how nervous I would get.
Calling the US racist by calling them americunts? Nice comment but a bit ironic.
As someone with a stammer, this gives me great strength and inspiration to face my fear of speaking to people I do not know in case they judge me negatively. Great Job!
So touching .. excellant teacher and friendly classmates .. brilliant
Unless you have a stammer you guys have no idea how hard that must have been to do - I'm glad they encouraged him to do that - take that leap, it'll set him up for a more confident life than most of us with the same affliction :)
What a top lad!
The part at 1:17 is almost like the scene from the Dead Poets Society where the teacher helps the student unleash his inner poet.
I am a 9'th grade teacher and that was very inspiring , thanks to all the teachers of the world who care enough to make the effort needed.
Beautifully done Mushy!! Praying for you and your journey!!
its great to know even if you have problems with your confidence and self beleife you have a friend some where
I'm seeing a lot of people missing the point with this.
Wow! He did great!
I am speachless ... this is simply education .. and that is simply a true teacher... god bless him.
Shame on everybody discrediting this boy for his success.
You made me cry like no other. Thank you, Mushy.
Why the dislikes? I don't understand
Probably from racists.
***** Or people against oration.
It's TH-cam, losers come to crap on others anonymously. Ignore them.
Всё я посмотрел это видео . Теперь это видео не должно у меня всё время поевляться в конце !
Just had to find Roldy and take him to White Castle. Damn bullies are assholes there's nothing extreme about them... I believe in you lil Kumar. I went through the same thing.
I have the biggest smile on my face right now! Kudos to those teachers and that school
respect to the kid
who would dislike this???
Kids with shaky confidance thinking they are better than him.
+DoneByMe you're an idiot
Found the racist
Very moving and touching, beautiful.
