I’m a middle school teacher, and by midweek, I’m hitting snooze an extra time when the alarm goes off in the morning. What gets me up on Wednesdays is knowing I have a new Nateland to listen to while I get ready for school. Thanks for getting me through the week!

Nate spending 7 minutes explaining and re-explaining how a story needs to be tight was a masterclass in unintentional irony. Keep it up fellas!

Nate: It's important to stick to the essentials of a story and get to the funny part.
Also Nate: Spends half the story trying to figure out if he was in Seattle or Vancouver.

I've never related more with Nate than after hearing his disgust with, "septuagenarian". The look on Nates face as breakfast and Aaron casually discuss the age range for septuagenarian, followed by his, "What?" and "Who ever says that?" at least 15 times in 60 seconds was just more proof that he is the Greatest Average American. Thanks for all the great laughs each week, I appreciate you guys, keep it up.

If you listen closely, Larry king wasn’t asking Jerry Seinfeld if he was canceled. He was setting him up to discuss the fact that Jerry canceled the show, not the other way around.

OMG! I watch this all of the time, however, the "Natedog" comment just ruined my desk. When Nate responded "it went away, when he did." I spit my pop out all over. Twice. Once at hearing it originally, then again when I thought it was out of my system and I went for another drink... Thank you.

Since it’s nearly impossible to get a comment read from a pre-recorded show, I’ll save the effort and submit this pre-recorded comment. “It was so funny when Nate struggled to pronounce that word and Aaron was silently laughing so hard. Then (insert B-word) told that embarrassing story about the awkward situation from his past. My favorite part though was when the one guy used the internet to diagnose himself with that unfortunate medical condition”

We have hectic mornings at our house too. My wife leaves for work before our 3 kids get up. She helps get things together, but it's mostly on me to get the kids dressed, fed, and in the car. Every morning I listen to Nateland as I get my children ready against their will. Today my 2nd grader was hiding behind the couch refusing to go to school while you guys talked about Oprah. I love my children, but today I can identify with the vasectomy guy.
    I'll go proofread this now.

"The Most Competent Sitter" should be the name of the next special. And it should end with Harper saying "Goodbye Folks". Always hilarious, makes my week to watch and feel like just hanging with a few of my funny friends. Keep up the good work Gents. Shootout to A+Aron and The American Ninja Worrier. Also more MIck, can't get enough of his stories and laugh when he's on.

My wife and I suffered a miscarriage January 2021. This January we had a positive pregnancy test which was exciting but we were nervous to lose another baby. Today we had our first ultrasound, and we were both so anxious. The nurse instructed my wife to put on the dressing gown. My wife and I instantly looked at each other and began laughing thinking of Brian’s situation. Your story helped ease the tension we were feeling. The ultrasound went great and we heard the heartbeat! Thanks for helping us get through it!

I love hearing everyone’s funny moments and thought I’d share one from my childhood…
My dad was never one to joke around but he seen a golden opportunity to mimic a popular comedian of that time (Ray Stevens) who had a comedy song out called “it’s me again Margaret” where he sang about making lewd calls to a woman from a pay phone while snickering obnoxiously. So one afternoon my grandmother left to go to the public restroom at the lake when my dad got his genius idea. Since they only had one stall and there was a vent that allowed you to easily hear whatever someone said outside the door, he handed over his fishing pole and headed over to say “he he he…it’s me again Margaret … he he he… are you “nekked”!?” He started snickering at what he had done but quickly shut up when straight ahead he sees my grandma coming out from behind some trees not too far off in the distance. Before he could move an inch, a woman not much younger than my grandmother walks out and just glares at him with a death look as she quickly takes off. We all laughed SO hard and we re-shared that event for a long time.
…That is … (no joke) …up until my grandmother became the victim of an actual perverted phone stalker. Then it was just a sore subject. 😕
    Good times. 👍

As a man who has had 4 heart surgeries, and several smaller heart procedures, I was actually awake for one. When I was 20, they did a heart cath to look into my heart and check the valves. They take a camera up your femoral artery, and just kind of hang around. I was awake the whole time. Pretty neat seeing the inside of your own heart

I once had a procedure done which required me to wear women's pads during recovery. I was given the biggest pads they make with no instructions on how to proceed. The doctor was a female and just assumed I knew what I was doing. I get home and stick this thing straight to my skin like a band-aid. The next day when I returned to see how things were progressing, I had to completely undress in front of the same doctor who gave me the pads. As I start ripping this pad off of my skin she looks at me with the most bewildered look on her face. Then she realizes what has happened and she feels completely awful. Apparently the sticky side of a pad is supposed to stick to your clothes, and not to your actual body. After she makes sure I am ok, we shared a really long laugh followed by telling many of her friends what had happened. So, Im right there with you Bo-Berry Biscuits.

Hearing Nate talk about exceeding an audience's expectations...was like watching a planet circling a giant hairball. Nate kept circling the topic (aka hairball) without crashing into it. While Aaron--Nate's best and most perfect audience--gazed at him like he was in love. These are the moments that make the podcast great.

Nate, when you started out I bet you never imagined you’d be inspiring Pastors everywhere. My husband, a Pastor for 28 years went with me to your Houston show this past weekend. The whole drive home he proceeded to passionately tell me how much he learned from you with regards to timing and he’s planning to soon implement what he learned. His sermons are peppered with humor where appropriate, but now his timing should be unbelievable!! He loved how you start off seemingly in a certain direction but end up with an unexpected turn which makes it so funny. Oh, and he thinks he might be dyslexic after seeing your pre-show clips. Thanks Nate.

When I was in high school we went to New Orleans for clean up post hurricane Katrina for our church mission trip. We found out a couple months later the man whose house we had been gutting had been orchestrating the murder of his wife. When we read the news article and looked at the timeline it coincided with the time we were at his home. we have pictures with him and everything. We don't let our youth pastor live down the time he took a bunch of teenagers to go help clean up a murderer's house...

Hello folks! Regarding naming of decades and use in conversation, my parents compete in the local, state, and national Senior Games and the terms octogenarian and nonagenarian are utilized frequently to refer to both categories and individuals there. I'm guessing its because hundreds of people in those age groups compete and it helps quickly classify the events and categories for grouping and start times. Also, as a community college instructor (who has also worked as an adjunct professor), we use those terms when dealing with gerontology in our sociology classes. So long story short, unless you're an adjunct sociology professor or Senior Games participant I don't expect y'all to be using the terms in your daily life. Let's go folks!

Amazing hospital gown story Bates! Glad I’m not the only one. My doctor told me to strip, and put on this paper gown. Like seinfeld, felt like I should put a pickle next to me as I sat on the butcher paper. Anyway, while I waited, I felt the need to “make an adjustment,” forgetting the gown was paper. Well, ended up ripping a hole in exactly the spot your thinking. Made for an interesting conversation when the dr came back in. By the way, I wasn’t there for anything below the waist. 😐

Hello folks! Actually, the TV show Night Court brought Mel Torme back into pop culture, more specifically Harry Anderson (RIP)-as he was a massive Mel Torme fan.
Mel was an amazing Jazz singer and entertainer. Word on the street though is that he didn’t like being called the Velvet Fog as he didn’t think it was a flattering nickname. His voice was unique, he had perfect diction and pitch. Regardless, the moniker stuck.

Love the podcast, and I really hope this comes across as constructive and not a put down. But I wish Brian and Aaron would break up Nate's rants some. They usually end up with Nate puttering off into "i don't even know why I'm talking about this" and I tend to agree. Don't let Nate go so long into the rants or maybe add too it rather than silently listening. They end up making the podcast sound more like lectures than conversations.
All love btw! And wish you all the best

Hearing Aaron talking about getting up at 6:00 a.m. to have family prayer caused me to remember our morning ritual when I was a kid. My dad would be headed to work by 5:00 a.m., and my parents thought it would be a good idea for us to get up and read scriptures and have prayer together before he left. This was not a popular thing among any of us nine kids. (And probably not Mom either)
The older kids decided that there would be a penalty for dozing off during this time. So they put a sponge in a bowl of water and kept it in the fridge. Then they would desperately hope that somebody would fall asleep during scripture and prayer time so they could be pummeled with the nearly Frozen sponge. My parents always claimed to be upset by this tactic, but I don't remember them ever doing anything about it. This was cruel and unusual punishment, but boy did it ever work!
Thanks for all you guys do, I look forward to every wednesday. I drive for Uber so listening to and re-listening to your podcasts are my salvation.
I'm going to see Nate on the 25th of this month (February 2022) here in salt lake City. And then Aaron and Baked Beans in April. I couldn't be more excited.

My husband and I learned about this podcast just a few months ago. I went back to the beginning and have been listening in order. He started with the most recent. When I reached the “hello folks” versus “let’s go folks” episodes I tried to explain it to my husband. He said he thought “hello folks” came from an episode when the guys talked about vasectomies. I have been wondering who was going to get a vasectomy, Nate, Aaron, or Bartholomew. I now realize he meant this episode. I’m laughing at the story and the fact that my husband could have thought this was the origin of “hello folks!”

This conversation about Nate being a confident sitter made me think of an experience I had last night. I was in my wife's yoga class [ I hardly ever go and am out of shape] . i struggle bus my way through this whole thing and god knows it wasn't great. at the very end there is a meditative part where you are not supposed to move, even if you have an itch or sweat bead. Boy I tell you what, there was no way I was moving because I can at least be really good at that. greatest average American vibes all the way around. lets gooooo. lol

I know of Mel Tormé because of Night Court. Judge Harry Stone was obsessed with him, which I guess was funny because he was not on Frank Sinatra’s level, but Harry was absolutely obsessed anyway. It also allowed the show to get many cameo appearances from Tormé, as he was just a small enough star to come onto the show, but was still well known. But a guy like Sinatra wouldn’t have done cameos on Night Court.

Aarron calling bhad babie “bad bunny” with such confidence annoyed me so much but made me laugh so freaking hard . As a Latino, we are proud of our stars who transcend language and i love that he knows the name at least and corrects himself … but shit that was so funny .

Breakfast’s birthday suit blunder reminds me of the one kid in elementary school who would always drop their drawers all the way to the ground at the urinal-purely naive but still unfortunate for everyone else.

Competitive sitters everywhere strive to have the same level of confidence as Nate has when he is actively sitting. #SittingGOAT

I think Nate should start a “Top Sitters” website like John Reep did for podcasts and naturally be number 1. And he even has a source to prove he’s number 1!!
I’d be willing to bet that “the most comfortable sitter” is a complement Nate never thought he’d get. I really hope it goes to his head and he starts talking trash to Aaron and Barstool about their uncomfortable sitting style.

    Hello folks!
When will the Nateland stand up tour start?
Nate can start his set and about halfway thru Aaron Land will give his and then Nate will finish up. Meanwhile, Bovine will hang out on the stage and intersperse (try that one out Nathaniel) lines the entire time.
Seriously, you folks need to get on the road together. Come to little rock. We'll go to the zoo and look at some "pinguins" and "Ben Gals".

Thank you Nate! I've never seen Shawshank either in all my 37 years. People tell me I need to watch it and I'm just like meh, I have a lot of movies or shows like that because I was just never around the TV when I was younger and they don't interest me to go back and watch now.

“Calibrated Delusion” sounds the name of the band Aaron would start if comedy didn’t work out.

The vasectomy story that Buttersquash was telling really hit home, so to speak. Ten years ago, when I was 42, I went to get the same procedure, except my doctor fancied himself a regular Slappy White. He couldn't stop cutting up. I am quite immature myself, so we had an instant chemistry. (Not the person you want to have chemistry with, for starters). For clarification, they do not knock you out or sedate you for this. They use local anesthesia but you are WIDE awake for the whole gimmick. First he made the necessary incision and snipped the necessary plumbing. Then the cauterized wherever cauterization needs to take place. A puff of smoke comes up like genie is fixing to show up, then I smell, well, burning Scott. He jokes about what he called the fire. We both chuckle, then, hidden someplace, hopefully in his smock or something, he drops one of those big super bouncy balls and makes it bounce away from us towards the corner of the room. That really knocked him out as he said a loud "Uh-oh". That's the last procedure you want to have done with a husky doctor visibly bouncing as he was laughing with a scalpel in his hand.

Surprised that Stephen Colbert’s interview with Eminem wasn’t mentioned in this episode especially with the discussion of Jerry Seinfeld on Larry King where Larry King seemed “clueless” because Colbert truly had no idea who Eminem was even tho Eminem had already released a few albums and was a staple in the hip hop scene. Love this show though please keep up the great work.

To give some credit to the three year old and to malign myself, bleach is clear, not white. I took a swig of bleach from a water glass when I was 16, because I thought it was water, and I thought I was gonna die. Turns out one sip is pretty harmless.
